The Sanguinor, Exemplar of the Host

The Sanguinor is a golden angel of vengeance who descends from the heavens only in times of the Blood Angels' greatest need. To most he is a myth, but those few who have seen him cut a bloody path through the Blood Angels' enemies and blaze across the battlefield like a hot and angry wind know different.

Am I the only one that thinks this character shouts "I am the Deceiver in disguise"? Golden, floating above the battlefield, and descends from the heavens in times of greatest need. The Deceiver is known to disguise himself and infiltrate factions, perhaps it is all part of his great plan to prepare the Blood Angels for the coming of the Necrons...

Sounds like USA politics and the current president... Zing!~

Anyways, no I don't think so. Blood Angels = More pretty fun than the EC. They even have pretty masks!

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

I wish, that would make an awesome pre-introduction to a new Necron codex!

A long with, of course, the Void Dragon waking up, and teleporting the entire planet of mars somewhere.

I also felt the Trickster guy from the SW codex was vaguely reminisent of the Deceiver(the face, deception, and he blows up).

is a valid idea. As we all know, Deciever is up there with Tzeentch and Eldrad when it comes to JUST AS PLANNED

And what plan is that? Get a fanatical force even more stirred up against his shock troops when they come into fruition?

This theory is as ridiculous as the 9/11 inside job or faked moon landing theories, in my opinion.

Eh, GW is fond of tropes and archtypes.

Obviously both characters are taking advantage of the messianic king archtype. But then so does the Emperor, and probably a few pieces in fantasy. The golden avenging messianic king is an archtype older than literature, and I'm not ready to call all of them the deceiver. (just as planned...)

Same thing goes for the trickster. Every trickster archtype is going to be described fairly similar. I don't think there is anything deeper going on than subconscious and social archtypes.

BUT, if I was going to play devils advocate, in the fluff the CTan god the Destroyer spawned the archtype of death. Perhaps then archtypes are not naturally occurring social constructs, but psychic projections and inherited memories. Then I suppose you could argue that the deceiver is the source of these archtypes.

Maybe get a fanatical force super stirred up against Chaos, anathema of the C'Tan, in order to shift the Eye's attention away from a diabolical Necron plot to seal the Eye of Terror for all eternity?

Not all theories have to be crazy, though I agree that the Sanguinor = Deciever is pretty far fetched, and based only on the model's looks (not even fluff/art similarities)

Nah the deceiver is not that good, the most he would do is get a flaming bag of poo and leave it on the blood angels door step with his name on it, now that I think about it he isn't a very good trickster.

On a side note the exemplar host makes me want to hop onto the blood angels bandwagon faster then I had previously thought.

This is good.... isn't it?

The Deceiver hid himself as a rogue Imperial Governor, wasn't it?

Page 8 - Assassination attempt

This text mentions of the attempt by a Callidus Assassin to assassinate a Planetary Governor named Takis. She used her C'tan phase knife and attempted to kill Takis, but she failed and her weapon passed straight through him. He knocked her aside and took her weapon and absorbed it into his hand. We can then probably assume she was absorbed as the last line talks about how her polymorphine drug "gives human essence such a delicate flavouring" (8). The fact that the being could absorb the C'tan Phase Knife meant it could only be a C'tan, as its body was made of the same material as the weapon which would have destroyed anything else. Also, we can assume that it is the Deceiver as the only other C'tan to be released from stasis was the Nightbringer, and it would not bother to hide as a governor, it would simply kill everyone around it and consume their bodies and souls. This is proof that the Deceiver is operating to attain power in the Imperium.
