The subject line says it all. Have there been any whispers in the deep, dark places of the world about any potential Chaos updates in the future?

Maybe this is premature, but give a cultist a break.

As soon as all 1000 loyalist chapters get their own codex.

Oh? You actually think they're going to do individual army codices for Chaos? This is news to me. I'd love to see that.

I HIGHLY doubt that every First Founding Traitor chapter will be getting their own Codex.

Also, the latest rumors go something like Tau, BT, Necrons/Dark Eldar and then...?

So anything Chaos, at least at this point, is very far away.

Of course, things could change!

I know this has been rumoured for a while, and my Thousand Sons would love to see it happen, but I just dont see this happening. I would rank this in the area of being released around the same time codex: Adeptus Mechanius, LatD, Squats, Harlequines and Dark Eldar come out. All of them sound like great ideas and are entirely possible for GW to make, but with how long it has taken Dark Eldar to get updated I don't think any of the above listed are going to go any futher than GW's brainstorming dept.

I have heard a few rumours of a chaos Traiotr Legions add-on or mini-dex of soem sort. I can't see them giving each legion their own codex. They might as well make a few "tweaks" for each legion and thus make the current CSM codex an essential book to go along with it. personally i woudl be happy with an extra HS slot and bassies for my IW.

hope its tau to make my dream of the all kroot force might become a little more likely xD

though in all likelihood any more updates for chaos marines/imperial guard/space marines will be single legion updates or something

I kind of thought the individual Traitor army codices were too good to be true... I'll believe it when I see it, I suppose. It'd be nice if they did another codex similar to 3.5, but brought up to speed. Basically, all the flavor, options, and badassery that made the 3.5 Codex so nice, but without the clutter. While I've never played that Codex, I've looked at it... And it's quite formidable to read through, heh. One thing I liked in particular about that old Codex was the way it was split into four sections, one for each of the Dark Gods. That was rather nice, I thought.

Mmkay... Most of what you said was about Tau, and the rest was pretty vague... Not sure what you hoped to add? Oh well.

I haven't seen any BT rumors though, just a lot of people clamoring for a BT codex. And the only Tau rumors I've heard revolve around some new FW Tau suits. Then again, I haven't been looking for them either.

All of the latest things I've heard revolve around people seeing new DE sculpts, people hearing about Matt Ward writing a new codex and apparently seeing some new 'cron models, and lately a lot of Inquisition stuff. Although the Inquisition stuff might be getting unduly fueled by the 3E codex absence.

Gathering the Informations.

Tau/Black Templar were supposedly on the "several year plan" as scheduled for minidexes.

Both ranges are fairly complete, and the codexes don't need as much work as Necrons, the Inquisition, or Dark Eldar would need.

I've never played against BT or read the codex, and I'm too lazy to download it, but I've heard that BT are kind of unpowered or something.

I hear the same thing about Tau though, so I dunno.

You mean you're too much of an upstanding citizen to download it. No one in their right minds would ever download a Codex! That's downright criminal!

While I would love to see a Thousand Sons Codex (my wallet would hate it), I highly doubt that any Codexes specific to one Chaos Legion will ever happen. I'm guessing Necrons, Inquisition, Tau, Black Templar (or maybe Dark Angel), and Dark Eldar before anything Chaos comes our way.
That order would make sense too. That puts Necrons as a Spring/Summer release, Inquisition as a Fall Release, and Tau and Black Templar (two somewhat-popular armies) showing up right around a certain materialistic holiday.

Poor Dark Eldar. I've been waiting to start them for about a year now. I'm not losing hope, though.

And yeah, I figured it might be a bit of a wait 'till they get back around to Chaos. Ah well. I hope the first thing they do is replace that clunky Dreadnought model. Seriously, that thing needs an update.

I don't see why. Without Drop Pods, it's kinda a useless unit if you ask me.
I do agree with you on Dark Eldar, though. There's a lot of potential for the most radsaucepedia models in that line, especially with the good stuff they've been knocking out lately (I'll let Beastmen and Space Wolves slide).

Plastic chaos dread woudl be nice. Almost as nice as a box set of plastic Oblitz. I woudl be happy paying £25 for 3 oblitz if they were in plastic...it's still an £11 saving for 3 nasty metal monsters.

As far as Chaos goes, GW has been making them anything but chaotic the last few codexes anyways.

They best they where was in the black booklet in 2nd edition when they got marines, mutants, demons, cultists, everything.

Chaos should have traitor legions, but they should also have everything else also.

I have like 50 cultists and about 50 demons.

I can use the generic suckage they call demons, while cultists literally have no use.

They have already killed Chaos, to make codexes now is to admit they screwed up big time with them, which they did.

May as well Squat chaos at this point.

Alot of good mates of mine have taken extended leave from 40k due to the inconsistancy with GW and the current chaos codex. It's kind of sad that the current chaos codex is not too old and is not unabalanced and yet can be horribly broken at the same time. And the negative opinion of the current dex is not just in these wargamming forums but many others as well (and anyone I talk to). What is also interesting is that there are many good, positive arguments (and not just people still crying about the loss of the 3.5 dex) why chaos need a new dex or some sort of Chapter Approved revision (or any sort of legit update to fix this, even on a small scale). I feel there has been too much of a focus on Space Marines recently, with awesome dexes, awesome plastic minis with beautifull sculpts (I'm looking at you Sanguinary Guard and Vunerable Dreadnaught).

*Sigh* Maybe I should just jump on the band wagon and collect that pre heresy World Eaters army I have always wanted to do. At least I will be able to use a good dex and with cheap, welll designed minis.

PS: How come the plastic Daemon Prince has not been released yet? It's been ages since it was first anounced!!

There were pics of a plastic daemon prince kit released in 2008. The kit appeared to be as customisable as the plastic Chaos lord kit, with many different parts to choose from. This is the best set of pics on it that I can remember. I realy like the look of it and to this day I am still waiting for it with high anticipation.

Personally, I see none. I practically have my Word Bearers shelved and only take them out for Apocalypse.

Then again, with over $600 saved up for Dark Eldar, GW better be less worried about chaos and more worried about Dark Eldar.

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."
