After about 10 years away from the hobby I recently got sucked back in. I had made a couple squads of Dark Angels over a decade but never got very serious about either modelling or playing. Now I am working on 2-3000 points of models and doing a custom chapter. I really like the idea of converting/kitbashing, but I tend to work on 10 things at a time so here is some of what I am working on:

Pedro based on the AOBR Captain
I think I need to fill in the gaps on the Dorn's Arrow and maybe the power fist, otherwise I am happy with it for my first model.

Vulkan based on a Techmarine
I need to figure out a good hose material. I was trying to use steel wire but it is a bit stiff. I am sorta hesitant to use something soft and have the paint crack if it gets pushed. Does this happen? Gonna try and add a techy looking cape and maybe a hood, will be first attempt at putty.

Various deadnoughts (I really like dreadnoughts).
I got a bit magnet happy and all the arms and most of the flamers, search lights, extra armor etc are magnetized.

Drop Pod #1
This is the only thing I have really painted. I'm using the drop pods to try and solidify a paint scheme. I mixed a bit of old boltgun metal into the black and grey paint I am using. I really like a metallic sparkle but it is a pain to make it even. Needs a little more detail, touchups, a final black wash and some highlights, I think. I am not sure about highlighting, never really done it before and I want it to be subtle.

Any suggestions, comments, criticism, questioning of my sanity welcome.

I like them! Take care of the mold lines on the captain. Only thing that troubles me is that the storm bolter looks wat to damn heavy.

Thanks! Yea I am trying to figure out a way to provide contrast without some bold color. I want a gritty urban kind of theme. I can't highlight (unsteady hands) so I am looking at edging in brass and/or a pearl finish. In particular on the shoulder pads.

Gonna do that for the characters at least. If my styrene/sculpting skills develop I will try doing it for the others. At least getting some wire and doing head to weapon jacks.

Thanks. I think I pretty well got original the mold lines. That glaring line on the cape (bottom left) is from where I scraped off the purity seals. The primer really blew it up. I need to sand it out, maybe putty.

Yea I am going for heroic/attention grabbing. I really don't like the actual Pedro model with it's fairly normal sized storm bolter but with 2x the rate of fire. It's supposed to be a Primarch's weapon and I figured oversized was the way to go. With it built into a robotic arm I figured he could manage the bulk.

Thanks for the comments! I should get some more pics up tonight.

Ah I get it. You want something that looks big and heavy so it gives the feel of something a primarch could carry without crushing it in the palm of his fist.

Oh btw, are you going to make the scythe look less biological?

Doing primarchs is difficult. I had to do quite a lot of conversion on a Chaos Terminator Lord to get the sheer size of a primarch across.

The only thing I can think of saying about your brilliant models is:

SHADING SHADING SHADING.

I personally HATE having to do shading lines (cause i'm terrible at it) but have to admit it does make so much of a difference. especially with dark colour schemes

Oh, and just be careful not to make them too Dark Angely in colour...
