Hey all,
I saw a post on Santa Cruz Warhammer a while ago about converting old Robogear models to 40k models
(http://santacruzwarhammer.blogspot.com/2008/06/converting-toys-into-great-40k-models.html) .

You should check it out, It has some good tips. It really inspired me, so I ordered a cheap model off ebay (Demolisher, pic attached)
and set about conversion ideas. I really think it would be a good Deff Dredd or Killa Kan,
but I honestly have no idea.
If anyone has some suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated

(P.S. I've heard that Robogear models aren't necessarily the best quality models, but apparently if this doesn't work, they're good for bitz)

After the abomination that was Mechwarrior clix, I abhor tonka toys. But if you like it, you could always take the guy out of the cage and put an Ork in the driver's seat. Some glyphs/bits from the bike/kan sprue should do well to orkify it enough.

Yeah, I was planning on putting an ork in there, plus I'm definitely going to change the hand to a looted powerfist or a powerklaw (some sort of saw ccw maybe?) and maybe have something shoulder-mounted (suggestions?)
I'll most likely buy a Kan pack and if this model is as bad as it's rumoured to be, I'll just build the kans and use this for bits.

Right-o, old bean,

That actually doesn't look like that bad of a model to convert. Chop out the driver, knock off that arm and add a wrecking ball or grabbin klaw from an Ork Vehicle and throw on some glyphs and you would be good to go.

You have to be careful using 'toys' because sometimes they end up looking really bad. There was a Zoids Raptor 'Dreadnought' on here a while back that fit the bill for a toy conversion that didn't work out.

I have that model from the picture in the OP and I intended to use some for Deff Dreads/Killa Kans. Then GW goes and releases their own plastic sets. :p

Perhaps I'll use it yet.

Thorgut- Is the driver removable? It would make it a lot easier if it is.

Yes, the driver is separate. It should be simple to throw an Ork or Grot in there.

Sweet, thanks.
Also, A word of caution for everyone: shipping from Moscow, Russia to Australia costs ridiculous amounts of money and takes an age. Be aware!

Is this what you are trying to go for. Something more or less like this?? Just slap a ork in there and you are done.

Click this link and exit out of it.
