space marine multi-meltas are free. melta guns are the square root of 25(avoiding points post problems)

They aren't free for space marines...

Here's my Review of the Codex so far!

The Magus seems to be overpriced...

also he has a separate price entry for every weapon that is on the Servo-harness.
I suggest sticking it together in one big package for 30 points.

The idea of Augmetics is cool, I like it.
It says however that it makes him fearless, but below in the unit Special Rules it says he is already fearless...

I'd have to say the Tech Guard are overpriced for basically being veterans with an AP5 lasgun, that and the fact they cannot get upgrades aside from the weapon and augmetics.
I suggest making them 80 points if you keep them the way they are.
The idea of no negative leadership modifiers is cool.
Maybe instead of Hellguns they get an Assault 2 hellgun, or maybe give it longer range if you still want to justify them being 125 points.

The mechnicus Rhino is a cool idea, being able to fight in close combat as such also, I could imagine it plowing through troops that way. It however makes me kinda laugh as I imagine a Rhino with servo-arms sticking out of it.

The seculator is by far the coolest idea in here. Would be a beast to convert, probably tons of plasticard and it would come out being like a defiler.
They should cost probably more points however, around 140/150 I'd say.
Maybe being able to take another arm weapon also.

Praetorians seem to be a bit overpowered with an invulnerable save of 4+. Maybe a + or a 6+ would be more appropriate to represent that they continue fighting on even with body parts missing, because comparing their armoured bodies to the Sacred energy shield of a Space Marine Captain doesn't seem appropriate. Terminators don't even have a 4+ invulnerable save...
Their power-gauntlets seem a little overpowered being the fact that they add strength and are power weapons AND have two of them... should probably make them cost more points...

The skiitarri seemed underpowered for a starting cost of 230... Perhaps lowering that
Aside from that they seem very good.

Gotta say I love the heavy-support choices.

The ordnance Rhino is an awesome idea, maybe calling it a Predator instead of a Rhino though since Rhinos transport people... maybe use a new name altogether. Punisher? Eradicator? Something related to blasting them to smithereens I guess...

Heavy weapons servitors are cool. Maybe lower its starting cost to 80 or 90 is my only suggestion. Perhaps being able to intermingle them with Tech Guard infantry would be cool too, kind of like the Combined Squads rule for the IG.

The Knight is the coolest entry here.
My only suggestion would be raising its armor values by 1 on each side.

Land Crawler has a lot of choices for it, seems okay however.

That's my slant on everything so far.

Looks good please keep it up!

Even if they were, that wouldn't make them fair or right. All of them are too cheap. The Melta-gun for the Magos is 5pts, what the hell? The one for the Skittari is 10pts and Twin-Linked, that's not so bad.... but at BS4, WTH? And lastly, the Multi-Melta for the Servitors is.... 5pts.... are we making a joke now? Multi-Melta for the same points as a Multi-Laser? Even after the points of the Servitor that's 15pts, that's less than the base purchase should be!

it does look odd.

do you want consistency? or scaled to the unit using it?

10 pts for mageos, 5 points for techguard, 15 and TL-gun for skittarii, 10 points for servitor MM.

haha, while I was writing short suggestions on each of the unit entrys you guys already posted more stuff...

and you're right Multi-meltas are free.

but they still shouldn't be free for this codex in my humble opinion...

I never use the Multi-Melta with my marines so I wouldn't know if it should be free of not...

marines should never take it, because it can't move and fire and its range is so short.

these units can actually use it so prehaps a increase should be made.

Why Space Marines get some weapons at a big discount (read: free), I'm not quite sure, but they are also GW's flagship. Should IG get Multi-Meltas for free? Should Hellhounds? Or Terminators? Or any unit for that matter? No. The only thing I can imagine, besides "because," that Space Marines would get them for "free" is because they are else-ways paid for by their unit price (if I remember correctly, you can only get those weapons for free if you take a full squad?).

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

I've always thought that multi-meltas should be assault weapons for some reason...

would kind of be overpowering because of its range.

Multi-meltas aren't free for SMs look at the codex pg138 - MM 30 pts, Pg142 MM 15 Pts. THey are free to a 10 man tac squad but that is because you are paying for it by purhcasing the marines at over the odds cost (16 per model compared to the better equipped and vastely superior Grey Hunter at 15 pts) to include the heavy (and special) weapon.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

OK, i changed all melta guns to 10 points each and multi-meltas are now 15 points.

the only unit that can take a MM is the heavy weapon servitors with the Skittarii and i belive that balances out with the cost of 15 points.

well the point of that is you don't have to take all of them OR you can take all of one type and 30 points for a TL-plasma pistol, melta gun and powerfist is alot IMO

80 points seem way too cheap for always having unmodified leadership, they are 12pts each so maybe removing the extra 5 points for the sergeant

The mechnicus Rhino is a cool idea, being able to fight in close combat as such also, I could imagine it plowing through troops that way. It however makes me kinda laugh as I imagine a Rhino with servo-arms sticking out of it.

thats 20 points each + 30 points for the champions eviserator, so are you sure about lowering it?

would 125 be better?

1. The magus I believe should 100-125. But yeh, somewhere in that price range. He just seemed incredibly overpriced, even with 4/5 toughness.

well the point of that is you don't have to take all of them OR you can take all of one type and 30 points for a TL-plasma pistol, melta gun and powerfist is alot IMO

2. Will you give rules to it when you buy them seperatly to still be able to fire 2 weapons a turn like with the Tech marine with servo harness?
I also suggest adding more choices for that.

Perhaps having a close combat setup versus a shooting setup
He could take the TL-plasma pistol and flamer and a power weapon (if that's possible) for a close combat hero
Or maybe even he could put a huge harness on himself that mounts a plasma cannon or a heavy bolter, but then be made slow and purposeful.

Thats because the techpriests who are not fearless can get it too

3. With Augmetics then if you gave it too the tech guard then they would be fearless?

80 points seem way too cheap for always having unmodified leadership, they are 12pts each so maybe removing the extra 5 points for the sergeant

4. 125 points is really overpriced if you ask me for just having veterans with hellguns... and I feel the unchanged leadership although it is something special, it shouldn't be a basis to make them 125 points. I'd see 100 points at the most per squad.

The ork in me thought of that

5. Haha, maybe for a dedicated transport you could have a souped up Razorback. Twin-linked plasma cannons come to mind.

I did add another weapon arm, i will make it 125 points

6.k... musta missed the part about another arm.

50 points perhaps? Terminators can get a 3++ save for the same price and have a 2+ armor at the same time. what if i gave them slow and purposful instead of relentless. would make them slower to get to combat

7. Terminators though do not have +2 strength weapons, two of them in an arm, a souped up invulnerable save, twinlinked guns, and are no fearless...
to make the Assault terminators as you said with a 3++ armor save you would have to give them the thunder hammer, which mind you strikes last. Also strength 8 for the thunder hammers always seems to be overkill against most armies I play...

either way I think the invulnerable save should be changed, make em 40 points, about there
And don't make them slow and purposeful. That would be under powering them.

thats 20 points each + 30 points for the champions eviserator, so are you sure about lowering it?

8.I must not have checked them over closely the first time through.

Now I noticed that they have toughness 5 and alot of wounds...
the 4 sounds seems a little much especially since you'll be getting 5 of them...
but yeh, now that I look closer you priced them right.

I called it a rhino because its on a rhino chassis, but another name could work. Punisher, Eradicator? i could be wrong, but i think those are Lemun Russ varients.

9. Yeh I know those are Leman russ names... haha... I'm just unimaginative...
But still, cool name!!!

i think 20 points for a T4, 3+ save, move and fire heavy bolter is good

10. I guess..... They just sort of reminded me of an underpowered Devastator squad...

It can do that, but i am an idiot and forgot the points cost

11.Another suggestion for the knight is too give it more special weapons! that's all though...

thanks for replying to my critique the codex looks good

Sorry, I meant Electro-Priests...the dudes with Electoo's/grafted technology onto the skin to harness bio-electric energy...etc... that sort of unit. I remember reading somewhere that they are a cult under the Mechanicus umbrella. But I guess they could be count as body guards to the Magos.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

That sounds like a group that even other Mechanicus groups would view as heretic....

Hey for an idea, perhaps there should be a way to build up this list as being a Dark Mechanicus Techno Magus...

different unit options and such!
