After recently discovering a lost treasure (dont know where from because i didnt buy the game) I decieded to paint up the crashed Aquila Lander. While working on the parts I realised the tail fin was missing from the wrecked fuselage piece. After trawling the auction and bitz sites to no avail I would like to try to scratch build the tail fin but have failed on any descent referance pictures(Ive been on the GW website). So I throw it out to the good people of Dakka for help? Many thanks.

Your project looks sweet as is. I have the kit painted in a similar manner but I love yours. If you really need to put a tailfin on this one- maybe you could try to incorporate one from a military aircraft model- I think the tail of an F4 Phantom would look sleek and sexy on this bird. Good luck with the project!

You can still get this kit on the GW site you know?

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod80001a&rootCatGameStyle=

If that's no use let me know and I'll dig out mine and send you a pic. It's still unpainted so you should be able to use that as a reference.

Thanks for the quick replies, as far as using an already existing kit part from an aircraft model I feel this would involve some scratch building at least to get it to fit, so really I might as well start from scratch and replicate the original shape. In reply to Elaverick I would like to take you up on the offer please, if you could post some pics that would be good or if you could actually trace round the part in pencil and add measurements that would be great. Many thanks and feel free to add anymore suggestions anyone.

Why not just put a melted/destroyed piece of plastic on it? It is a wreck.

Tony, the reason you were unable to find reference pictures is because you were looking in the wrong place(or so it seemed from your post).

The Aquila Lander is a Forge World product.

Not the greatest reference photo, but like Insaniak's--it shows you how all the bits fit together.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions and reference photos. I should be able to cobble something together that looks quite reasonable and I,ll post pics when Im done. In reply to Insaniak that is some great work. Once again many thanks.
