Was kind of bored this Easter (though not bored enough to write a 2000 word report on Light Rapid Transit), so I decided to put a plastic Space Marine together and paint him up as a Blood Angel. He had a white undercoat followed by a basecoat of Blood Red. This was followed by a very heavy wash of Baal Red. I know everyone else will say use Devlan Mud, but I kind of liked this effect.

He looks cool. Do you collect a blood angels army or is this just for the hell of it?

@ Link - This was just for fun. I've got enough parts to put together a squad of five marines, so I might do these as Blood Angels and see where it goes.

@ Munch Munch - Better pic now attached!

I really like how the red has turned out, with lots of colour variation. Nice work! Are you going on to finish painting the chest eagle, eyes etc? and what do you plan to put on the banner?

Ah, thank you. I like it, though I think you should give it a wash of delvan mud to make the shading more apparent. Also a highlight of grey on the black would look good too.

@ Oshunai - Yes, I think I'll pick the details next. Uou can't tell from the photo, but the eyes are green! I'll keep the banner simple and put the Blood Angel's chaper badge on there.

@ Munch Munch - Good plan, I'll pick out the chest eagle with grey highlights and apply some Badab Black to the chainsword and pistol. Relucatant to go down the Devlan Mud route for this fellow. Maybe on the next one!

I like it. Reminds me of the Terracotta color of days gone by.
