All right, so I've been playing around with this idea in my head for a while now. I wanted to do an
IG army but wanted to do something different. I also wanted to do a nontank centered army so I wanted to do a true guard horde. I've always loved the beastman models, since I played them in Mordheim, and thought. Wouldn't it be cool to make a
40K army of beastmen. I searched the net, and saw that some people had done some beastmen as attachments to their guard or as individual squads, but not an entire army of them. I also wanted to keep them as "feral" as possible becuase I haven't decided if I will be using these as "traitor" guard or some type of inducted regiment. I know that some of the old fluff includes beastmen abhumans.
My plan is to use the Gor models for my basic infantryman, the ungor models for conscripts, the bestigor models for veterans and commisars, centigors for roughriders and minotaurs for ogryn. And of course shamans and the like for sanctioned psykers.
Anyway, onto the pics, I hope they load from the DAKKA gallery.
My various bits, including gor bodies, heads and horns, Ungor bodies and heads, and various catachan arms and weapons bits.
Heavy weapons team. (Note that the gunner hasn't had greenstuff added yet) Also note that I removed all Imperial icons from the weapons, becuase I'm not sure if these guys are going to be traitors or not yet. I'm thinking that they probably will be, since they have those Chaos icons on their belts and necklaces. ;-}
Close up of the Gor gunner conversion. I had to cut the leg at the knee and remove some of the leg, and glue them in the kneeling position. (Pics are pre greenstuff)
Some closeups of the legs after greenstuff.
Here are some pics of the ungor. Note how the arms don't line up real well. I put enough glue to hold them in place before I greenstuffed it.
Onto the Gor plasma gunner. The same basic problem as the ungor with the arms not lining up that well. Although their wasn't near as much gap as with the ungor.
Allright so I'm pretty happy how these guys are shaping up. I'm a little worried about the ungors "broad back" but I think once I get paint on it, it will look good.
I'm going to work on some Gors with lasguns and will post pics of them before I start painting up the test color schemes.
