In C: SW the Land Speeder Squadron lists a Heavy Bolter under "Wargear." It then lists all the options and upgrades. The final bullet says "Alternatively a LAnd Speeder may be upgraded to a Land Speeder Typhoon armed with: Typhoon missile launcher....XX points per model"

Does this mean the Speeder no longer keeps its standard Heavy Bolter or does the the Speeder Get to have both the TML and the HB?

It keeps the Heavy Bolter, which can be exchanged for another option if you so wish. Just keep in mind only a single speeder can be a Typhoon for SW, not all 3 like the SM Can.

"Armed with" does not mean "Armed only with". It is Armed with a Typhoon Launcher, as well as it's original weaponry, as it is an upgraded Land Speeder.

Oh Darnit!

I think I will have to have three separate Speeders squadrons then!

Thanks again

Yes, you will indeed need 3 separate squads. This also means you can take a max of 3 in a SW army, instead of the 9 a SM army can take.

This is because:
a) SW fluff indicates they aren't that fond of speeders, so wouldn't have many of the more advanced ones
2) You can already fit a Bajillion and two missiles into a SW list as it is WITHOUT speeders, being able to take 9 Speeders AS WELL would be to game balance what a crowbar is to a kneecap (yay for ZP).

Don't worry Gwar isn't right about everything. He insists that a landspeeder equals only one landspeeder, and while this reading is correct, the English language doesn't make it the only interpretation. Everywhere in the codex where you can only do something once, it says one model blah blah blah.

Ask your tournament organizer to clarify if this will be a sticky issue for army comp. Otherwise you are allowed to upgrade all of them as per the English language. After all any landspeeder is still a landspeeder.

BTW... Gwar will disagree with this. I'm not going to argue it any further than this post. These arguments have been done to death. Search for the relevant threads and make your own decision.

A) fluff does not rules make.
#2) is the largest piece of bs you have ever spewed. Not counting landspeeders, the only way SW can out missile launcher an SM codex is if you take Logan and If you take 60 wolfguard. And even after all of that, SW only beat out the SM codex by 5 missile launchers.

I read it and agree with Gwar! completely but thanks for the heads up on the existence of other interpretations.
