The Dragon Slayers are a chapter that I have wanted to create for a couple years now but they just keep getting put on a shelf in my head and forgotten. But thanks to Monster hunter Tri and How to train a dragon I have decided to at least get their Fluff rolling.

*****Disclaimer*****
The following is a rambling of my incoherent thoughts regarding the dragon slayers. and as such this will probably be annoying for some people to read. I apologize for this.

My Goals for posting this information up is;
1) hopefully someone can help me organize this information better.
and
2) help me define them as a chapter a little better.

So here goes.

Dragon Slayers

Origins: Due to the chapters spread out nature their exact time of founding is inconsistent between sources.
Homeworld: N/A The chapter is spread out into various warbands refered to as “Hunts”. Each Hunt operates from a strike crusier containing all support needed. Individual Hunts pull recruits from planets they visit who appear to have the potential to “Slay the dragon”. Preferably from Death Worlds where the initiate is used Creatures larger than himself who are far deadlier.

Combat doctrine
The Chapter takes to the Field in Hunts, vary rarly will their ever be more than one Hunt at a location. Each Hunter is lead by a Huntmaster, who is the most senior Hunter of the group. Each Squad is lead by a Huntleader, while individual marines are refered to as Brother with a Hunt or Hunter when adressing members of other Hunts. Each Squad fights independtly of others, providing support as needed but otherwise are trained to be completely self sufieccent. They have learned this style of Fighting due to their lack of numbers and the fact that most missions they undertake are just to kill a threatning/large opponnet and not to undertake prolonged campaigns unless the beast proves to be elussive.

During the 13th Black Crusade Several Hunts were present. They appeared randomly after appearance of Greater Daemons and Princes.

A Hunt is currently Hunting in the Armaggedon sector, having taken a serious toll on Ork Warlords.

Chapter Organisation
The Chapter is Broken up into Hunts, The largest Hunt containing usually 75 Full Hunters and as many as 50 more Initiates, Normally Hunts are between 25-50 hunters with roughly 10 initiates.
Each Hunt is broken down as follows.
Hunt Master(leader of a Hunter, functions like a chapter master)
Hunt Leader(Leader of individual squads, functions like a seargeant)
Hunters( Squad members)
Then Initiates.

Beliefs
Each Hunt has its own set of tradtions, this is due to the fact that each hunt usually has its favored prey, Orks, Tyranids etc. and each hunt believes their prey to be the deadliest. But typically each hunt is very Humanitarian and once someone earns their respect they will aid them any way they can, this doesn’t apply solely to the imperium, there are some Hunts who help the Eldar protect their exodites.

The Ritual
Every Hunt has their own rituals that they perform before hunting a beast, usually this is drinking large ammounts of Alcohol while entertaing the local populace of their exploits.

Rites of passage.
Every member stays an Initiate until his Trial at which point the hunt finds a appropriate beast for the initiate to slay, he is deployed against this beast alone, with Lite armour and his weapons. although the hunt does deploy in case of emergency but the initiate is unaware of this.
Geneseed. Gameplay purposes this can be an assassin.

Im at a loss for this part. I know they don’t have any records of it but I kinda feel that’s the easy way out.
They have been around for awhile but they werent founded during any of the major foundings so im thinking like the 15th founding or the 7th or something.

Gameplay purposes
Daemon Hunters Codex based chapter

Special abilities of Grey Knights Justified for Dragon Slayers
Fearless:
The Dragon Slayers have fought the largest most intimidating creatures to face the imperium, they are the emobiment of “And they shall Know no fear”.
Deep Strike:
Sometimes they don’t want to wade through all the minions to slay the beast, this allows them to “cut to the chase”.
True Grit:
They are trained to fight with weapons that are larger than most Marines are used to, thus allowing them to wield storm bolters and weapons seemlessly.
The Aegis:
Sheer willpower? Yea I have nothing better than that.
The Shrouding:
Dragon slayers are master hunters, this abilities shows them always moving and hiding to avoid unwanted attention.
Rites of Exorcism & Daemoni Infestion
I am up to Ideas for these, otherwise I can not think of anyway to explain these.

So I need help filling out their Fluff. the basic ideas are their. so any help/ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks
-Toeko
