What happens if a Inquisitor has a child? Is it taken away or are they allowed to keep it? Since I know that Inquisitors have been in relationships but their isn't any mention of family. Also, if you are a Inquisitor, and your father a Rogue Trader and he dies, would you still be eligible for it? Also, could they take in children and/or grandchildren as followers and make them Inquisitors?

Similarly, would the children of Psykers be taken away? And if you were a Psyker and became approved by the Imperium to live, would you still be able to inherit the Warrant of Trade?

S/He is an Inquisitor. They can do whatever the feth they want with the child. And that probably includes eating it. It's quite easy to imagine an Inquisitor with a family holed away on some remote planet, visiting only occasionally (every 5-10 years?). That said, most would be too dedicated to their cause to really start a family.

As for Rouge Traders, that's a career, not a rank. I think you're confused thier.

Psykers is...well that's a good one. I don't know if Psykers are allowed to breed, or if they do it one purpose to maximise a pysker farm or something...

If Psykers sleep with other Psykers, do you get baby psykers? Or is the 'Psyker Gene' completely random, rather than hereidtary.

With the constant demand for psykers just to keep the astronomican and other roles needing psykers running, it's not too far fetched if the Imperium want to start looking into for reliable Psyker resources than the 'come as they please' Black Ships.

I think its a ressesive gene. Seems likely with the supposed rarity of human pyskers. But also random ones happen also.
But as pyskers are gennerally shunned of taken away on the black ships i doubt you'll find a pysker-regular human parents.

And the idea of reliable pysker sources sounds plausible but it isn't the IoM way to do what common sense dictates.

Yeah, I figured that, just wondering about it.

No, I was wondering if a Rogue Trader who has a child how joins the Inquisition still counts on the family tree and/or inheritance list for the Warrant of Trade.

They probably do that somewhere, but it's probably not common, due to fears of chaos corruption. It's like having a feast laid out for chaos. One thing goes wrong and *BAM* there goes the system.

Anyway, I asked this because I thought of a character who becomes a Rogue Trader, with his father being part of the Ordo Hereticus, his Grandfather the current head of a Noble House and his Great-Grandfather being the previous Rogue Trader. So I was wondering if the fact that the character being a psyker, or being the apprentice for his father means he can't recieve the Warrant of Trade due to not being considered part of the family or being a psyker.

Lol. Your character seems like a real Mary Sue.

That said... I think a noble wouldnt haave much trouble getting the warrant of trade.

Hmmm, Rouge Traders are often held in contempt by official Imperial Authorities, and the Inquisition doesn't bother with them much. I honestly don't know how a Rouge Trader family would take to having one of their own being taken as a henchmen and becoming an Inquisitor. It would be like they never existed almost. I just don't have enough info on Rouge Traders to really help upu here.

@Viking: Common sense? It's what the Imperium is made of! If you have a problem, chuck men/missiles/crap at it until it is either dead or full.

Two psykers together perhaps have a higher chance of baby psyker? Or just higher chance of...wierd crap. Yeah. I bet someone, somewhere, tried this and the Inquisition rightfully toasted thier ass when it all fell apart.

Whoopsie, a lot of questions.

My two cents:

Why should the Inquisitors Child be taken anway? Nowhere is stated that an Inquisitor cannot have children. Most will probably choose not to have any, because a family is a liability in this kind of work, but I am quite sure that some will have nonetheless. Probably living a rather aristocratic life and having lots of Bodyguards around.

If the charter of the Rogue Trader does not say otherwise, of course an Inquisitor can take it up. Most would probably pass it on to someone else though, as a senior Inquisitor could only loose power and influence that way. Don't forget, a Rogue Trader Charter is a great prize and worth billions, but for the truly powerful it is more of a golden handshake to be rid of political enemies.

Of course they could take in their own kin and train them, make them acolytes and so on. But I would say that this would commonly be frowned upon by their peers. The Inquisitional Rosette is not heredetary and I am quite sure that the powers that be would drop a serious boot on any attempt to make it. (Simple logic, if it wasn't so, most if not all Inquisitors would already come from some Inquisitor-Clans, you know how nepotism works.)

If the children of Psykers are psukers as well, they will of course be given to the Black Ships. I would also say that children of Psykers would be taken away quite early on and placed in a Schola Progenium for example, and strictly monitored for any sign of the psychic curse. You don't take any chances with the wyrd scum.

The violators of the Emperor's law must be punished… how dare they question His will, His judgement… if their deeds go unchecked then chaos will surely rein… I have no choice but to sentence the offenders to death, effective immediately and without appeal… you have your orders gentlemen, may the Emperor's blessing go with you.

Inquisitor-Clans do exist. However I cannot confirm that they are due to actual familial ties or just philosiphical.

Do you mean the philosphical schools like the Amaltheans, Puritans etc.?

I simply cannot believe that the other powers would allow real Inquisitor Dynasties to exist - imo that would be too disruptive to the delicate balance of power in the Imperium.
