Very nice, i was impressed by the painted result. I think the head could look better if it were more rigid. Great work.

I think the head could be a bit more "mechanical". At a minimum, I think I'll add some rivets and perhaps use greenstuff to "square up" the nose a little. Maybe this new "greystuff" I hear about that does corners better. Now I just need to buy the chaos codex and find a game that takes titans to give my energy a boost... Interestingly, my Tzneentch army has a ton of other scratch built stuff, and I got most of the rest in a trade - I estimate that if I had purchased all the counts as miniatures outright it would worth re at least 10 times what I paid for it (especially with the titan) - Here are some pics - check out the dreadnaught (made from the heroquest tomb bit and a broken epic titan), sculpty scarabs (the army was originally all about nurglings) and wood block landraider. Not my best work, but still fairly pleased overall - and not bad for where I was 7 years ago. Each sorcerer had themed thrall wizards - harem girls, mummies, barbarians etc. None of those anymore of course - not that I'm bitter. The obliterators are classic dreadnaughts.

Wow! very njce! It's amazing what a few basecoats can do to a model. I second the comments on th eweapons though; mainly the VMB looks tad small. Could you post it with a regular mini for scale? I seem to have missed out on the scale shot.

That is fantastic. It looks perfect for 1k sons.

I'm really impressed, the only critique I could add is that it could use some heraldry of something on the legs.

The game is ongoing - going to finish today hopefully. The objective is to control the alter on the top of the zigurat for as long as possible. So far Chaos has 1 VP, managing to seize it for a turn with a demon assault. The Iron Wolves have mostly been hiding from the titan using the Zigurat for cover - it has wracked up only a handful of space marines, some guard, and a speeder. Void Shields are down. I'm going to belly up to the objective with the titan if need be - although I'll probably get meltagunned into slag. There are about 8 different space wolf characters about to clear the objective - but you only score on your opponent's turn, so they have to survive a round of titan firepower to do it...

It does indeed - I almost deliberately painted it to stand out more (also considered trying to make it generic enough to fight for chaos or imperium) - glad I didn't do either one! Perhaps it will motivate me to buy the current chaos codex and get serious about playing thousand sons again. Played the battle with the old codex...

And chaos won the battle, 3 VP to zero. Here's the last turn - some spacewolf hero and a bloodclaw with a meltagun taking the point blank shot (void shields down) and...
...Miss! Titan survives unscathed. Didn't really do all that much other than turn an infantry platoon into paste, but it dictated that the wolves had to take the long way up the pyramid, which helped. Never really had a good shot with the plasma blastgun and the vulcan mega bolter was a bit meh, though it did blast a skimmer. There is an interesting tactical problem with titans, in that I found that my weapons were always on the wrong sides. The plasma blast gun was pointing at the Imperial Guard and the VMB at the wolves, which led to much fiddling and angling trying to get shots as the two weapons fired "cross eyed". I was using the old VMB rules - it looks like its AP 3 now, which would have been more useful.

Thanks for the comments all! I'll post again when I get more of the detail done.

Great Looking titan. Definitely unique, and it seems to compliment the theme of your army well.

One question. Where did you get that Jackyl head ?

Made it out of sculpty. It wasn't meant to be the final version, but it seemed to work well, so I stayed with it. I wanted to find a toy of some sort to steal from, but no luck. I'd still like to add some detail to it.

Well, about a year later, I've done a little work, and may play a game with it that might motivate me to do even more....

Head more rigid and machine like (hopefully)

Next up a bit more painting, the alter on the back deck, and then the leg heraldry, which I've decided to sculpt out of greenstuff. Also looking to add an optional back weapon mount to up it to a reaver.

I approve of your use of bionicle parts on the titan. While I cringe a bit at the thought of spray painting legos, The final result looks pretty good. I would suggest putting a wash on the Thousand suns, as they look a bit too bright at the moment.

nice work I'd love to see a bit more paint on it and some battle damage.

The alter and candlesticks for the back were in the way on my painting stand, so I painted 'em and stuck them on, even though I'm not really actively working on Anubis Rex at the moment. I figure its a good place for a ritual...

Well, Tanksgiving approaches, so once again I've dusted off the titan (literally, it doesn't fit in any of my cases at the moment). Started working on the underside detail and the legs.
Still no decision on what to do on the front leg armor. Also trying to decide how brave I am about battle damaging it. I really like the FW warhound that looks like its been to hell and back, but I don't want to carve up my model that much.

Tanksgiving? Never heard of that occasion, sounds fun!

Loving how this is turning out, you turned a handful of bits into a pretty darn good looking titan. It reminds me of the old armourcast titan! http://www.ironhands.com/warhnd4.jpg

Tanksgiving is a great holiday - its like Apocalypse with 50% less headache since it plays much faster.

I did model it after the old armorcast style, though looking at your picture is pretty clear mine is quite a bit bigger, for better or worse.

I was about to post my "actually, I don't really play 1K sons except at Tanksgiving any more" post when I realized....

....there is only one TRUE bunch of Egyptians in space! All hail the Changer of the ways!

1K sons = Immortals
Scarabs = Scarabs
Silver Tower = Monolith
Greater Daemons = C'Tan
Socerers = Crypteks and special characters.
My Cool Bird/Snake Daemon Guys = Tomb Spiders or Wraiths
Scorpion theme defiler = ????

Happy days are here again! We have finally found a way to beat your puny psychic hoods.... : )

Huzzah! What is more, this is an excuse to buy a necron Ghost Ark and paint it in blue and yellow. What is more, it doesn't count as starting a new army...

Here are the pics from Tanksgiving. The Admech titan rules work pretty well - firepower is limited, but it has good survivability - made it through both games, damaged but still kicking (or stomping).

That Titan is very cool. I liked the idea of it having a shrine on the back of it because is reinforced the way people in 40K have a habit of worshiping their machines. You inspire me to make my own Titan for my Nids one day.
