Why do people keep saying a mega armored grot is a killa kan? Would a boy in mega armor be a deff dread? Is a meganob a gargant? No. A megagrot would be just that a mega armored grot.

Now having said that a 2+ for 6 points... hell no thats friggin rediculous. A mega armor is 40 points for a reason.

Points are the effective worth of a unit. A Nob having 2+ armor is MUCH MUCH more effective than a Grot having 2+ armor. I approximated the grots to be about 6 points because of their INCREDIBLE lack of mobility. Slow and Purposful, Fall Over rule, and that they can't be in transports all round up with a unit that CANNOT MOVE WORTH gak lol. Their max fire range is 12 inches with the grot blastas, or they are 8 points to have 18 inches in range with shootas. They will have little effect on the game with exception to holding objectives. They are practically incapable of other activity.

Also remember Mega Armor is a 2+ save AND PK (25 pts) AND Combie Shoota Weapons (5-10) so they are still paying only 5-10 points for the 2+ save if you think about it.

so mega grots are 1/3 as killable as ork boys... but they are valueless in CC. 2 pts more and they are 1/6 better in firepower than shoota boys. I have better mark up the price a bit for both having durability, and because specialized units always cost a little more. 9-10 points base? 11 maybe? agh but think of their disadvantages! Maybe I should make them even less mobile to save points cost.... I need to ponder this...

How about making them only roll a single D6 or 2d6 take the lowest for all of their movement? That would be a serious drawback.

We also need to realize that point for point they have less firepower that a similarly priced squad of Boyz and will be wounded on 2+ by any weapon in the game. That alone is a huge drawback, they will also die like dogs to anybody with a power weapon in CC and are very unlikely to strike back having only a single each that is likely to miss and have a 1/6 chance to reduce their attacks next round each time you roll. In all I'd say at six to eight points a piece they are a decent unit that has only one job.

The true test will be to see if Dash would use them at six points each.

lol I like it... but wouldn't it be more grotty for the gun to be low str. but lots of shots? but maybe I can open a whole sub-genre for Mega Grot Heavy Weapons.

Each Mega Grot Squad may have up to one Mega Grot Gunnery Team (identical to IG hvy weapons teams... aka the same but with two wounds.) So it is one model, and rolls to fall over as one model.

Team: 15pts

In addition to the teams normal cost, they must also take one of the following.

Grot Zooka: +10pts: As per Codex Ork

Rocket: +10pts: As per Codex Ork

Gattling Grot Gun: +5pts: S3, AP-, * shots, 24", Misfire Special Rule.
_________The gun gets 6D6 shots, -1 Die for every full inch the squad moved.
Misfire: For Every roll of 1 to hit, then roll to wound against the Mega Grot Squad. (wound on 3+, save on 2+)

Twangga (mini ballista-like): +10pts: Fires a Bolt, Speedy, or Shreddy projectile (must be declared before measuring range). Bolt = S5, AP3, Hvy 1, 24" :: Speedy = S4, AP4, Hvy 1, 36" Twin Linked :: Shreddy = S4, AP5, Hvy 1, 18", small blast, Rending

PS: Just made my 5th Mega Grot model and also made 2 Mega Grot Hvy Weapons teams as above. THEY'RE AWESOME! I've got a Twangga that has spears roped up with bombs, and the Gattling Grot gun I scratch built even spins! now I just need a stupid working camera to show you all. This is my favorite scratch project ever!

Another quick update (this is a day newer than the last one) I am NOT going to infact change the price of each individual grot because of this...

The squad moves 2d6, then 1d6 (if I run). BUT 1/6 of the models will fall over EVERY turn. Making it easy I have a squad of 12, two will be toppled and moveless, so even if I roll high, they can't leave the models behind without killing them. After futzing around with this, the entire squad can't reliably move more that 9 inches a game. A GAME! You can't charge if grots are toppled either because they are not allowed to act. So the prices are static as they are

As a simi counter to this problem (but really because it is fething funny) I have a new thing the squads can get to sorta 'deep strike'. Read the Forum's begining, It has all the hvy weapons and this updated.

This is awesome and hilarious. They can only footslog though, which might be an issue in gameplay.
