That would work, too but he did end up making D4s. It's a shame about the massive delay, but I am looking forward to getting these... eventually

Ah the mighty slap of reality in the face of KS

but he has been keeping us informed which is what you want when things are dragging on. It does make it less painful

It was a kickstarter for 12 sided dice. Making D4s was as simple as changing the faces. The d4 designs are actually quite clever, none of them are regular pips.

They had me once they revealved ying yang, and trfiorce, inspired ones.

Yeah, I'm still looking forward to these as it's such a great idea! He just hadn't done quite enough legwork beforehand, and had to have them cast using a different method than he had planned... and of course it became super popular which is always a double-edged sword on KS.

Dice made in Chna and quality control issues evidently go together like Peanut butter and Jelly.

Backed this one and RocketDice, both, 2 years ago and they had each had similar issues and delays.

At some point this year I'm going to receive 300+ dice that I ordered in 2013 and It seems a bit crazy to me.

He's still doing pretty good though. I've backed 86 successful projects now on KS, including this one.

My other dice project that I've backed on KS, Artisan Dice, still hasn't delivered on some of it's KS stuff..and it's a fully functioning business..you can order dice from them right now and get them. Out of the stuff I've backed, they've pretty much set the standard "This is NOT the way to do a KS." They made the horrible mistake of allowing people to add on it with backerkit after the KS ended...also on really blowing up the add'ons and stuff while the KS was running. They've had some machine breakdowns and other stuff over this time, but the last delivery day for anything was Nov 2013..and those were the metal dice. I didn't get my wood dice until May of 2014? I think there are people that still haven't gotten their metal dice yet. They posted something about the metal dice engraver being fixed in the beginning of march.

QC, or molding anything in China is a mess. Unless you've got everything ready to go beforehand and you've got some really clear communication over there, or you've got somebody on the spot standing there going "it needs to be made like so and so", you're going to get delays.

The best and fastest KS I've seen had almost everything ready to go beforehand, either they needed very little funds, or (if it was company that was getting new designs going for mass production) they did a survey as soon as they had been funded and did "which are you planning to order in what and started production). I'm pretty sure that Fire & Bone (www.fireandbone.com) started producing the skulls as soon as possible, since they're the only KS I've ever had that shipped out on time, or delivered ahead of time.

Back on this KS...

They did screw him on the price of the dice bags, so he is losing money on this, and he did delay a bit trying to get the quality of the dice as precise as he wanted.

Any preorders (or support) he would really appreciate.

I'm not complaining.

He's offered full refunds for anyone who didn't want to wait, he's pushing through after having lost money on the bags, and having to have pay for prototypes over and over. He's determined to deliver the product

Why not an 8-sided D4?

This topic made me invest in dice... but after looking around and finding that EM4 does 8-sided D4s. Either they're new or I'm really unobservant - EM4 is where I usually go to get my D6s* and polydice; except for Chessex D4s, with the numbers at the top. But any pyramidal D4s annoy me with their rollability, so I'm keen to try the 8-sided out.

*Specifically numbered D6s, because otherwise a handful of rolled dice looks like a sea of pips to me. I don't imagine that squeezing a bunch of pips on the smaller faces of a dodecahedron, like wot they're doing with these doublesix dice, will improve that effect much.

So a D12 with 1-6 printed twice instead of 1-12 then ? Lol wow innovation !

I've got a similar idea for a D2 ..as coins don't roll very well I've invented a 6 sided D2 that has 1-2 on it 3!!! Times .now your even more likely to get that roll you want !

Y'laugh, but a D3 is a handy gadget, especially for GW games.

They have to be the coolest D4s I've ever seen

D3s do come in handy. I got mine from Impact Miniatures. Tom, over at Impact, is interested in specialty dice so Impact carries uncommon dice such as D14s, D16s, D18s, D5s, D7s, and had D3s, although he currently doesn't appear to offering D3s anymore.

Pips by any other name... But yeah, they look pretty snazzy. Particularly like the bottom two with circles cut into fractions.
