Update #5 Jul 11 2014

The March family are comin'!

Hi folks,

Just over a day into the campaign... I never, in my wildest dreams imagined that Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke would have over 310 backers and the total would have hit £25k. That's so exciting! Loads of you are going to be building gangs, playing games and helping to make the rules better. Awesome!

And, it means that a new Kingpin, Jo March, can be added to the campaign. Double awesome!

Jo's regular sized and ready to be added to your pledge as a standard choice, or for the extra £12 add-on price in addition to what you get in your basic pledge. She will hopefully be the first of many characters from the March family.

Pa March likes to think he's in charge, and he's a smooth-tongued son-of-a-gun for sure, but, it's Jo who has the real power. She's smart enough to let Pa walk, talk and act like he's the boss, but, without her intelligence, planning and strategy, he'd be nothing more than a rambling snake-oil salesman.

It helps that Jo's mighty handy with all manner of guns too! It's not just about the firepower though, Jo's not adverse to charging in and settling matters up close and personal. There will, of course, be some skills that use her faithful pet rat, Scrabble, too.

This one is a very cool stretch goal that will be free to all backers, no matter what your pledge level. The Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke Background Book is a way to show off the amazing sketches, illustrations and painted miniatures from the world of Infamy.

More than that, there are well over 20,000 words of short stories already written and that number is growing all the time. Background text and the history of London has been vital in shaping the game and the range. With this Background Book you can truly immerse yourself in the Big Smoke!

You can already check out just one story - Welcome to the Big Smoke - written by the talented Dave Allen and, given some layout goodness by another Dave, Dave Taylor! But the Background Book will feature so many more.

Everything is in place to ensure it will enrich the stories behind your games. I'm pretty psyched about it! If things go really crazy with this campaign - I guess I should actually say continue to be really crazy - and there's demand, perhaps I can get a printed version done too.

If the campaign hits £30k I'll continue the free theme, and the art theme, by adding a set of 10 Art Postcards to every pledge at Scuffle and above.

So, there's a ton of funky stuff ahead. I'll put up the voting for postcards later on if the stretch goal is reached.

That's all for now you fine people.

Cheers,
James

Update #6 Jul 12 2014

The background book is here!

I've been having a really great Saturday here at Infamy HQ. The sun's shining, there's a light breeze coming through the window of the war room, I've eaten a tasty cooked breakfast, a healthy lunch of raspberry cheesecake... at least I had some fruit! And, you're keeping me on my toes with your incredible continuing support! Another stretch goal is in:

No matter what level you are backing this project at, you will now get an awesome free PDF of the Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke background book. This will contain more than 120 professionally laid out pages of art, painted miniatures, background information and stories. It should be a brilliant way to enrich your adventures in the Big Smoke.

Above is a little look at just a few sample pages, to show you that it's already well into development. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the look of it, or the stories inside. I'm definitely excited about this one!

So, what's next? I'll get to the £30k stretch goal in a bit. First I want to talk about this campaign's first backer stretch goal, which has come close so much faster than I expected!

If the campaign gets up to 400 backers then I will bring in a new deal. For everyone who spends £150 or more on their pledge, the price of add-on miniatures will drop to:
•Regular - £10 (saving £4 on RRP)
•Large - £12 (saving £5 on RRP)
•X-Large - £14 (saving £6 on RRP)

Not too shabby I don't think!

As mentioned in the previous update, at £30k I'll throw in a new freebie to all pledges at Scuffle or higher. 10 high-quality postcards of Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke artwork that you, as a backing community, will get to vote on the designs for.

One will be the main Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke image of Nikola Tesla, sitting on the shattered remains of Nelson's Column.

Beyond that, you'll get to pick seven designs from the existing concept art and illustrations (don't throw any votes in just yet, I'll make a specific update for it once the time comes!)

Brand new art!

Once the campaign is in its final days, and you've seen more of what Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke is about, you will also be able to suggest two brand new pieces of full colour artwork to be created by Silviu Sadoschi (the talented artist behind just about every image that you see as a part of this campaign). So, you can choose the characters and the scene!

Once the suggestions are in, I'll pick my favourite six and throw open a final round of voting.

The two winners will be illustrated by Silviu and added to the post card pack. In addition, the people who suggested them will be sent a large, high-quality print of the art. If you want me to ruin it I can even sign it!

What's up next?

The stretch goals seem to be dropping pretty rapidly, so I'd better throw out one more for you:

Around this time a year ago I was involved in another Kickstarter, helping my friend Alex run his ArcWorlde campaign. As a part of that - and because Alex, myself and two other reprobates (Joe from JoeK Minis and Alan from White Dragon Miniatures) are in a collective of companies we call British Independents - Alex created a character called Captain Brindie.

This dashing, swashbuckling gent proved to be a very popular miniature and it was decreed that we would each make a version for our ranges somehow.

So, that's what I've done!

The Captain Brindie miniature, who will rock up at the regular size, is already finished! You'll have to wait until the stretch goal to see him though. Sorry!

He's also going to be a Kickstarter special. What that means is that once the campaign is over you won't be able to buy him in any online or brick and mortar stores. In fact, the only way you'll be able to get a copy if you don't buy him through this campaign is by purchasing one at a miniature show I attend, or winning him in possible future competitions.

So, this is quite a special miniature!

I have already put up a little teaser of him at a work in progress stage on Twitter, so you could always go and take a look there if you want a preview.

Ok, that's all for this update. Hopefully I can show you more soon.

Cheers,
James

We'll find out soon enough eh.

I hate to be a broken record, and the range looks fantastic, but I wish companies would stop *describing* the scale of their models and just post a picture either comparing them to a range of other models, or just with a ruler.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Update #7 Jul 13 2014

More stretch goals goodness - art cards

Hey everybody,

I'm about to settle down to an evening of Kickstarter campaign tinkering and World Cup watching, but there's exciting Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke action to talk about too.

A big hello to new backers coming over from the world of Guild Ball! I'll be making an update later tonight that gets into more detail on Harry 'The Hat' Hallahan and how he came about. Suffice to say, I'm really pleased to be working on this model alongside Rich and Mat. It's been loads of fun sorting the character out and bringing in some new ideas.

But, until then, Art Postcards are here:

Every backer at Scuffle and above will get a set of 10 art postcards. The designs will be picked by you guys over the course of the campaign. I'll do an individual update about this next week. But, for now, you can all look forward to getting some cool art.

The campaign is now on the way to the £32k stretch goal. This will bring in a new model to the streets of London, landing in the regular category - Captain Brindie.

This is one of my favourites of the new Infamy: WtTBS miniatures. Brindie is in a very relaxed pose, enjoying a smoke and a drink, and was sculpted by David Arberas. In terms of his background, Captain Brindie is a dashing, swashbuckling sort who is famed for his acts of valour and daring-do... the thing is, he's actually a bit of a coward, he just happens to be extremely lucky and extremely good at inflating his own reputation!

Here's a look at the Captain Brindie sculpt. His mechanical monkey is an optional part and you'll be able to build the model without him on the shoulder. You can, of course, use the spare simian on the base or with another project.

Just a little tease of what could come after Captain Brindie. Nothing more than a name right now but this should be a good one!

And a final reminder that we are only a few backers away from getting cheaper add-on minis added for anyone spending more than £150. So, please spread forth, like a flock of annoying pigeons, and tell your friends about Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke!

Cheers,
James

Update #8 Jul 13 2014

Guild Ball crossover - Harry 'The Hat' Hallahan

Hey folks,

The World Cup is over and done with and Germany are the champions. But let's be honest, the real winner was football... or something like that!

Ok, I have to admit it - what with the build up to my Kickstarter being at the same time as the World Cup, I've barely been able to pay attention to football's premiere event. But there was no way I was going to miss out on some sort of football-related excitement this campaign.

So, allow me to introduce Harry 'The Hat' Hallahan, a crossover miniature between me and the fine folks at Guild Ball! This is something that I've been talking to Rich and Mat about for a while and we've concocted a character who we are all rather happy with!

The design process for Harry consisted of three main elements:
•Working out a character who could fit into the worlds of both Guild Ball and Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke - we eventually decided that a bruiser, hooligan type who could potentially fit multiple guilds or go clobbering on the streets of London would be very cool.

•Writing a description to send to Silviu Sadoschi, my concept artist - this described the physicality of Harry, his clothes, pose and his multiple accessories, which were all designed to allude to various Guild Ball guilds as well as fitting in with the Big Smoke setting of Infamy: WtTBS.

•A back-and-forth between Silviu and the three of us, where we gave feedback and tweaked the art. This mostly consisted of 'Can you make the hat a bit bigger?' followed by an updated concept, followed by 'Can you make the hat a bit bigger?'

And we finally ended up with the dangerous looking chap you see above - Harry 'The Hat' Hallahan.

So he'll have rules for both games?

He most certainly will! Rich is taking Harry as an opportunity to do something a bit unusual for Guild Ball and test out a Union guy who can play for various guilds. I should probably be worried that this model is a guinea pig in his evil game design plans, but I'm really digging the idea and think that it could be super interesting.

As for Infamy: WtTBS, Harry will be a true bruiser on the streets of London, cracking skulls for fun and offering his muscle to any Kingpin willing to pay the right price. The different equipment that comes with the model will go some way to dictating his core specialism.

Who will be making him?

The three of us will make a final decision about Harry's sculptor in the next few weeks. I guess it's fair to say that I will be leading this process somewhat, as I am producing the model. I'll be in close consultation with Mat and Rich though, and we've made sure that the concept is beefy enough to sit comfortably with the look of existing Guild Ball models.

I have some very skilled sculptors in mind and, like the rest of the Guild Ball models and many from Infamy: WtTBS, he will be a digital model. This will give lots of versatility and potential for easy tweaks, which is probably going to be important with all three of us attempting to spoil the miniature broth during the approval process!

Looking ahead

Hopefully this is the start of some fun times ahead for Infamy Miniatures and Guild Ball.

As I've already discovered through being a member of British Indie, alongside Warploque Miniatures, White Dragon Miniatures and JoeK Minis, partnerships like this help build the growing British miniatures and wargaming scene and make running a company more fun! By sharing techniques and ideas we can all benefit. More than that, you guys can reap the rewards by getting tons of cool new stuff that's the very best it can be!

But enough of my gibbering!

I'm very excited to have this cool crossover miniature out there for all to see and can't wait to progress him to the sculpting stage. It's been really hard keeping it a secret!

Cheers,
James

Update #9 Jul 14 2014

New stretch goals unlocked - Captain Brindie, Dimension Hop Tesla and cheaper add-ons

Yikes, I sure picked a fine day to book some meetings! There I was, expecting a fairly slow Monday, and suddenly a Lifer pledge was snapped up by an amazingly generous backer, along with many other people joining the Kickstarter.

I apologise it's taken me a little while to make this update, I've had a day sorting out other bits and bobs about the campaign. Hopefully the good stuff inside will make up for the wait!

Over 400 backers!

This is so awesome. Five days in and over 400 people of exceptional taste have backed the Kickstarter. I honestly didn't dream that it would happen so fast and I'm extremely proud that you all see something in Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke that has encouraged you to put in for a pledge.

It just makes me more committed than ever to ensure the minis and the game are bloody amazing!

It also means that the 400 backer stretch goal is down.

img]https://s3.amazonaws.com/ksr/assets/002/278/804/26d5fd1cfb2dc9098b62b244af99e504_large.jpg?1405357829[/img]

This means that anyone who spends at least £150 in total on their pledge amount will get some pretty great discounts on add-on miniatures:
•Regular - £10 (Estimated retail price £14 - £4 saving)
•Large - £12 (Estimated retail price £17 - £5 saving)

•Regular - £14 (Estimated retail price £20 - £6 saving)

Which might come in handy now that a few more stretch goals have fallen for regular sized miniatures too:

Captain Brindie has landed! This is the first 'Kickstarter Special' miniature in the campaign.

"What's a Kickstarter Special?" I hear you ask. Well, let me show you with this handy infographic!

So, Captain Brindie will be available in a few other ways once this Kickstarter is over, but, still quite tricky to get hold of as I don't currently go to an awful lot of shows.

(check further up for the image)

I'm glad that feedback has been great on him so far and particularly glad that most people have been shocked by the idea of building him without the clockwork monkey!

The pace of backers today was so great that I didn't even have a chance to tease this stretch goal properly before it arrived!

Dimension Hop Tesla is a character who came about through a desire to bring some slightly more unusual elements into the world of Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke without taking the carefully built background to a really insane place!

That this alternate, female version of Tesla has come from another dimension acts as a facilitator and device for the justification of other such oddities (which I felt were too cool not to do) also being a feature of future parts of this campaign. But, by having her as a dimension hopping genius with a new-fangled device that can tear rifts in space and time, it actually fits with the world I've established in a fairly feasible way.

Don't worry! She isn't going to usher in a wave of dinosaur riding knights with miniguns... though perhaps that's a Kickstarter I should launch once this one's done!

Her background is actually all worked out and there's a proper fit in the overall plot and story arc of the world.

Also, she's a wicked looking concept by the uber-skilled Silviu Sadoschi, with elements to her equipment and dress from different time-periods and worlds. And, with the incredible Joaquin 'Freeman' Palacios due to start sculpting duty on her, she's bound to look every bit as good as a finished model!

As with Captain Brindie, Dimension Hop Tesla is a Kickstarter Special miniature.

More stretch goals to come!

Don't worry chaps and chapesses, I have some pretty funky stuff to come in the next stretch goals. I'm particularly excited about the £38k one, it's truly epic!

Once £36k is hit I can get my background writer, Dave Allen, to put down some more background information to really bulk out the history of London even further. I'll also be able to add some new colour illustrations to Silviu's list of things to do!

This is one that I know some people have been waiting for. You can see concept art for the Suppressor on the Infamy website and it's caused some folks to get a little bit excited, what with it being a titanic, walking, steampunk, tank-type-thing of destruction and death!

Well, I've been a little bit cheeky with the Suppressor. Despite showing a work in progress shot or two recently, the sculpt has actually been finished for a while now!

I'll let you take a better look if the £36k stretch goal gets hit!

What else?

I'm going to film a video update later tonight or tomorrow. I need stuff to talk about! Please add your burning questions to the comments in this update and I'll do my best to answer them in the recording.

I'll announce the next backer total stretch goal in another update soon, and, of course, details about any other stretch goals that might tumble!

Thanks for making it another crazy day guys.

Cheers,
James

and finally in this flood of updates

Update #10 Jul 15 2014

Bigger background and the Suppressor is coming!

Yay! Another stretch goal has been surpassed. I was just about to sort out my evening meal, but, if there's any good reason to go hungry for a bit longer, this is it. I've been excited about this reveal for a while now!

Before I get all giddy about what's to come, I'd best talk about what you fine backers just unlocked:

The free PDF Background book is going to get more pages. Hurrah! What does this mean for you?

Pretty as a picture

I've already fired an email to my awesome artist, Silviu Sadosci, with descriptions for two new colour illustrations. These will be big, complex pieces - like the existing images of Tesla sitting on a ruined Nelson's Column, or Uncle John bursting forth from London Zoo with his animal circus.

What will they be of? Well, fans of some of the models I released before this campaign began will probably be happy. That's all I'll say for now, but, I think it will be cool to make backers a part of the development process for the art, so once I get an update from Silviu (which shouldn't take too long as he is spookily fast) I'll share his preliminary sketches with you in a backer exclusive update!

Storytime

There will also be more words, which is rather fortunate! Dave Allen, who has written loads of brilliant background and stories for Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke has clearly been watching the upcoming stretch goals.

He pre-emptively sent me a 3,000+ word short story that we have never discussed! I'm guessing he will want some pennies for it. Cheers for that Dave! I am actually very happy though, it is one of the most enjoyable reads yet and brings in various characters for the first time. Perhaps I'll get some art done to accompany the new story too.

So... yeah... I got a bit carried away with this one! From the first time I mentioned the Suppressor to some friends behind the scenes, there's been nothing but excitement for it. Somehow, all that enthusiasm led to... well... I guess I'll just show you some pictures of this beast!

It's pretty large! In fact, if you were to come to Nottingham and head to a place just down the road from Infamy Miniatures. Goes by the name of... what is it? James Workshop? Something like that! Well, they've got these things in their range called... Fearnought? I think that's it. They make some resin ones. They are rather full of contempt. Is this subtle enough for everyone?

Well, the Suppressor is pretty much the same size height. So quite a hefty kit. Quite a lot of parts too actually. I'll show them if the stretch goal gets broken.

"Aren't you a little tall for a skirmish game?"

Yeah, it is big isn't it? But, have no fear, I've worked out some funky ways for it to fit into games of Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke in both competitive and story driven games. I'll say more if it gets unlocked rather than go into too much detail here!

Hopefully you like the look of it. I'm getting 3D prints made in the next few weeks, so you should get to see a physical model before the campaign is done. I will then have to try and restrain myself from painting the 3D print!

Because it's so big, the Suppressor won't even fit the X-large miniature section. He is an add-on only model (though I'm considering adding a Massacre+ type pledge) and with an estimated retail price of £45 I'm going to take that down to £40 for the Kickstarter.

Alrighty, time for me to go and get some food I think! I'd love to hear what you make of the Suppressor.

Cheers,
James

Not at the moment no, it's all going to be online living rulebook at least in the short term

the rules are in their infancy and until they stabilise and seem to be working well he doesn't want to print anything that will need replacing in short order

Once things are set he'll look at doing one (From the various interviews I've listened to it sound as if KS backers might get some sort of break/deal on it but nothing is certain, and it probably wont happen in the time frame of the KS fulfilment)

Update #11 Jul 17 2014

The Suppressor is here!

Hey folks,

Huge thanks for all of your support. With a surge of backers, the £38k stretch goal has tumbled. The gangs of London had better watch out, because this mechanical marvel is more than a match for them!

The estimated retail price for this big, multi-part resin kit is £45, but, you can choose to add-on the Suppressor kit to your pledge for £40 (just increase your pledge amount by £40 and you'll be able to tell me you want a Suppressor during fulfillment after the KS closes).

In the last update I promised that I would tell you more about the way that the Suppressor works in games. Well, I will, but first, let's have a really good look at this awesome model, sculpted by Dave Kidd. Don't forget to click on the image to see a big, high-resolution, zoomed in image. My favourite bit is the boarding ladder that goes up the leg and side of the machine!

If you're into mech stuff, like I am, you may already be getting those metallic paints at the ready! But, you might also be asking how a big stompy machine like this fits into games of Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke.

Stolen tech!

The first way to use a Suppressor in a game is by replacing multiple models in your gang. Though it's rare for a Suppressor to end up in the hands of gangs, the machines do sometimes get breached when groups of Peelers enter the annexed areas. In these situations, after the unfortunate pilot has been disposed of, the Kingpins will either scrap the machine or, if he/she is ambitious, keep it for themselves.

So, stolen Suppressors sometimes fight for Kingpins with a gang member inside piloting it.

This is done at a sacrifice to the number of slots that you can fill with characters. It's more of an 'eggs in one basket' approach and only really viable for games using larger numbers of models. Despite the strength of the machine, a stolen Suppressor will never be as effective as a Peeler driven one. The gangers just haven't received the same level of training that the Police force do. It's always going to be rather deadly, what with the huge level of armour and the heavy weaponry, but less-experienced pilots make for more vulnerable targets.

The danger of a fully operational Suppressor!

The other way to bring the Suppressor into a game is through a scenario. There are various missions where your gang must take on one of these scary machines. In some, one player takes control of a gang, the other a Suppressor. In others, two gangs do battle in an area where the Suppressor is attempting to subdue them. In many of these cases the machine is piloted by a Peeler and uses a different, much more deadly set of stats and skills.

These types of mission are story and narrative focused ways to incorporate the huge walker into your games and ensure the machine gets as much use as possible.

Of course, looking ahead, I plan on releasing rules for other Peelers, and this is where the Suppressor can become an even more integral part of the game of Infamy: WtTBS! But I should focus on the Kickstarter now, not start to get excited about what's going to come after fulfillment!

I think it's high time I returned some of the generosity you've shown me! If the campaign reaches £40k I will throw in a free copy of the Kickstarter Exclusive Nikola Tesla miniature to anyone who pledges at Massacre or higher.

The campaign has grown so much faster than I expected, and the 500 backers total isn't too far away. Once it is hit, I want to reward you fine people with something really funky. You can't get much more funky than a climbing monkey! So, that'll be the 500 backer reward!

Harry 'The Hat' Hallahan is now regular

I've had a chat with Rich and Mat from Guild Ball HQ and they are cool with me adding Harry to the regular list. This means that you'll be able to pick up this awesome Guild Ball crossover model as a choice for your standard pledge if you want to. Huzzah!

Ok, that'll do it for now. With any luck I'll have that video update sorted for the next post, so, if you want to throw last-minute questions at me, put them in the comments.

Cheers,
James

I was in on this one the moment it went live. I'm a big fan of the minis, love the setting, and having had a taste of the ArcWorlde rules at Salute I've a lot of confidence that James will do a great job with these ones too.

There is a competition running on FB and Twitter to win all the minis in the campaign. You just need to share and/or retweet (one entry for each) and to have pledged to the campaign. There's no minimum amount, a £1 gets you in. If you win you'll get your pledge converted to store credit as well winning ALL THE MINIS! lol

I am so torn right now. I'm already pledged in for Skirmish since there were only a couple miniatures that I was interested in. Getting Telsa as a freebie would be nice, but it isn't exactly free considering Massacre level is steep being $222 for 13 miniatures.

Yeah, that $16 per mini, even though 4 of those are large. But, some of the best looking minis around in the market right now.

The new stretch goal at $42k is awesome. Free online painting tutorial for the KS exclusive Tesla? I've been in on too many KS campaigns and that is easily one o my favorite stretch goals of all time.

Yeah the issue is I have nothing to base what large or X-Large mean visually though, so it doesn't add value to me when I just see 13 miniatures. They said they were 32mm and the shadowy image of a man doesn't really help me visually line them up with their other figures. I know at this point its all in my head but that is why I'm torn. They definitely are some nice looking sculpts though.

Totally understand the issue with unknown sizes. Here's what I have found on existing models:

Tallulah Belle 30mm base
Watson 50mm base
Holmes 30mm base
Jekyll 30mm base
Hyde 50mm

Here's Chee Chee doing his height measure at the doctor:

Looks like Toad is as large as Hyde:

I've gone in for three smalls, I'm just going to pick up exclusives/specials, since they are a bit pricey.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Update #14 Jul 19 2014

Free Nikola Tesla for Massacre backers!

Good evening you fine people,

I'm very pleased to announce that thanks to a real surge in backers today, the £40k stretch goal has been passed. Yay! Thank you for being awesome.

Everyone who has a Massacre pledge level or higher will now get a copy of the Nikola Tesla Kickstarter Exclusive miniature completely free! That leaves you with the eight regular choices to spend on whatever other models you'd like and there's no worrying about missing out on this brilliant sculpt. It also means that by backing at Massacre you get a great saving of £73 on the estimated retail price. Over £200 worth of stuff will be winging its way to you at fulfillment for £130 (or less if you managed to snag an early bird!)

What's next? Well, I guess that the first thing to look at is the 500 backer stretch goal, which is now amazingly close.

This is one of my favourite models of this campaign and I'm so stoked that it's already close to arriving. It actually started out as a bit of fun, a cool variant that digital sculptor Adrien Debos was playing around with, but something about the pose and the height of it made it resonate with me and it's gone further and further up my list of 'Da bestest Infamy modelz!'.

There's a blank sign option too so it can be any street you want.

Only 11 backers away at the time of posting this update!

Lots of people are going to get a Tesla miniature now that the £40k stretch goal is down. What better way to celebrate that than putting together a tutorial video, showing how to paint him to a high-tabletop standard, and putting it online for everyone to see? Well, getting brushmaster Ben Komets to do the painting, and the rest of the team at Painting Buddha to film and edit it, that's what!

So, yeah, that'll be what happens at £42k. I'm pretty stoked.

Upcoming Beeble Babble

I'll be able to chat a bit more about this on Monday as I'm due to do another live hangout with Michael Bartels - the second Beeble Babble to feature my ugly mug! If you've not checked out the first it's packed with tons of Infamy info. The one on Monday is a chance for you to throw questions at me while I'm live on the interwebz!

And just a little tease for you here. The Mk1 Defence Bot, or, as I sometimes call it for short - the six-shooter - is up at £44k. This model was conceived of years before I even thought of Infamy and it's so satisfying to be close to working it into the range. The sculpt is totally finished too!

I think that's more than enough good stuff for one update! Hope you like the teases and rest assured, I've still got some more cool things to come!

Cheers,
James

The miniatures are more expensive than your standard metal or plastic mini. They're sculpted to a far higher level of detail and then cast in resin which adds a significant amount to the cost. It'd be similar to buying Forge World minis albeit I think these are better again than most of those. Bear in mind that you can play a full-sized game with a gang of around five minis so your overall outlay isn't that much. You'll also get the PDF living rulebook included in your pledge too.

Update #15 Jul 20 2014

Climbing past more stretch goals - 500 backers!

Hi folks!

After a very busy day at FigureWorld yesterday (great to meet and chat to a few backers!) and a much needed early night I'm back to address the activities in the Kickstarter. And there have been some exciting new developments.

This one came around quicker than I expected. Amazing! As soon as I have the first casts of Nikola Tesla in my hands I will get one shipped to Ben Komets and the Painting Buddha team so that they can make a video going through the painting process. This will be put online for anyone to see for free. We're hoping to get something online before the campaign is through, or, failing that, very soon after.

As a little tease, Ben has sent me this image of the Kickstarter Exclusive miniature, painted in Photoshop to test out colours. Very cool!

Even more mind-blowing to me - over 500 awesome backers are now supporting Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke! That means that one of my favourite sculpts so far gets added to the campaign - the Climbing Chimpanzee. It's a Large miniature.

Hot on the heels of the awesome chimp comes another of my favourite concepts from the Big Smoke... well, from the United States actually, but transported overseas to provide backup to those with the funds to afford it - the Mk1 Defence Bot.

The Mk1 will be available if £44k is reached and is a new choice for the X-Large category of miniatures, standing way taller than a normal man, even in this squat pose.

I've been so focused on this Kickstarter that my usually obsessive eye hasn't been paying a whole lot of attention to the number of likes on the Infamy Miniatures Facebook page. It's just about to hit 3,150, which is very impressive.

However, being the greedy swine that I am, I'd love to get a little higher. With that in mind, I'll add another model to the Infamy: Welcome to The Big Smoke range at 3,250 likes. Paranormal is a very cool concept and I've got the excellent Allan Carrasco lined up to sculpt her.

Another new mini

Making an elegant segue from Facebook talk, I'd like to congratulate long-time Infamy Miniatures supporter and regular liker/commenter Evl Hmr (and his wife, Mrs Evl Hmr) on the birth of their new baby boy Charlie.

The Full English - coming soon!

There have been requests from various backers for a new pledge level offering more minis together and more versatility. Well, I've been doing my best to come up with the best possible option and I've got to The Full English (name suggested by Ben Stones - this much-loved greasy breakfast that has gotten me, and by the sound of it, many of you, through a rough morning or two!)

I'm not launching it yet, because there aren't three X-Large options to take! However, if the £44k stretch goal unlocks the Mk1, then I'll send out an Infamy Miniatures Newsletter (signup on the website) announcing the time that it will go up.

There will be a limited number of early birds on this one, but, with it offering really good value already I can't do too many, so it will be one block of them. When they're gone, they're gone!

Here's a preview of the proposed contents for The Full English. Let me know your thoughts ladies and gents.

And I think that's enough for now.

Cheers,
James
