You want to buy it and/or support them, go right ahead. My money goes to companies that respect me.

Aside from the well-known delays with the Dwarf KS and the production issues with Warcast and changes to PVC, the AoW staff have always been very friendly and helpful to me when I've contacted them. Johanna in particular has always gone out of her way to sort issues for me when I've contacted her.

I agree. They have always been friendly, but it takes forever and ever to actually get a reply from them, if ever. Yes, they might be good to reply when people want to buy stuff from them, but when it comes to replacement of bad casts, missing items, etc, etc. the customer service for me has been aweful. And I will not even get into the customer service when it regards the IGG campaign.

But generally I do like the sculpting and their vision for AoW so I hope they can manage to bounce back.

its sad that you liked AoW and now you are so upset. this totally surprises me. they might be slow, and wrong or unable to communicate in some business decisions, but they surely are very friendly and polite people.
what went so wrong for you to be so upset with them?
as i said i go every friday to AoW HQ to play. do you mind if i tell johanna about you? i would bet they are not aware of this situation and everything has to be some type of missunderstanding.

I'll agree on the IGG campaign. I'm waiting on a Dwarf Standard replacement, but I told them they could ship with the Doomcrushers, so I haven't received it yet. (and the Doomcrushers got delayed - so hopefully soon).

Asking again here: have they shipped out all standard bearers now? I still don't have anything but I honestly don't know if that's a problem by now...

I'm sorry that I sounded that bad, now I'm reading it again and see I was out of line. I do not take back waht I said, just the maner in which I said it. Sorry.
I never said they were inpolite or unfriendly, they just weren't there for me one unaswered mail after the other, after a while I just stopped caring. I thank you for the offer and I understand you are fond of them like I'm fond of the other company, I was the one who told you that anyway, but what I'd like to see is Felix to be involved directly with people and not have others (like you) have to be a connector. He is not a president, he runs a tiny company ffs! The rest I'll message you not to derail the topic any longer.
Anyway, I hope everything works out for them, no hard feelings?

No idea. I emailed them about some other stuff, and also asked about the BSB at the time and they mailed me mine. (this was after a couple of people had them arrive shown here). No idea how many are yet to go or if they're all sent out, since there's no real "AoW KS Central" anywhere.

Ah. So raising the issue with them might actually help. I'll go do that later this week then. Thanks!

Same material used as privateer press? That would be restic then and I would highly advise people to stay well clear of it. The sooner the industry is rid of it the better.

For the next month only to celebrate AoW's 5th birthday they've made the discontinued Warcast sets available from the webstore again, they're also offering free worldwide shipping on all orders and are throwing in a free t-shirt for orders over 80€.
Our fifth birthday is here!

To celebrate it, we make available to all, for a whole month, our products that can not be purchased through the usual sales channels. And being a celebration, we do offer these products with some really extraordinary prices (Warcast resin regiment boxes at the same price as plastic regiments)!.

These are really good offers, for those resin regiments are of unmatched quality, so if you like them now is your perfect chance to get them!

Also during the celebration, all orders get free shipping worldwide, and those orders over 80€ will receive the free 5th anniversary t-shirt!

Click the 5th Anniversary logo on the top left for more info!

Thanks so much for your support during these years!

I'm really excited too see the Warriors of Apoc available again even if its only for a single month, I've been kicking myself for the past 2 years for only purchasing one set before they were eventually discontinued.

Big word of Warning though, If this sale proves popular i would 100% expect massive delays from AoW when it comes to shipping Warcast items. I pre-ordered a set of the original Warcast Warriors of Apoc a few years ago and it took AoW a total of 7 months to cast and send the models to me.

Since this thread hasn't been updated in a while, here are also the 2 new hero models that were released last month.

Yeah.. NO. Don't support this company. They took mine and the money of several others and did jack gak for years.

Their Indiegogo Campagne is just a joke by now.

I'm not happy with the state of the Indiegogo either Ronin, but you're completely full of gak when you say they've screwed people over. You may not be happy with the slow progress they've made with the indiegogo but they have explained they're current situation MULTIPLE times. They based the amount of money needed for the Indiegogo and its stretch goals around the costs of producing the models in Warcast which was only a few hundred dollars per mould, unfortunately they experienced multiple problems with supplying, casting and working with Warcast and were forced to move to the next best alternative for cheaper models which was PVC. Which unfortunately in Felix's own words cost "about a hundred times greater than warcast!". Which is why they've been forced to rely on selling pre-orders to help fund there new dwarf regiments.

Surprisingly enough though AoW have actually been slowly inching their way towards finishing the Indiegogo campaign. Although they suffered a fairly large setback this year with the Vestals which were delayed multiple times by the PVC production company which in turn held up the tooling for their other regiments. Felix recently said on the AoW forums that the Iron Guard regiment might be available for pre-order sometime in October/November, so assuming that the Iron Guard pre-order isn't delayed and they've already completed the models then AoW have the following items left to finish:

Regiments:
Treasure Hunters,
Dwarf Cavalry,
Bear Warriors,

Heroes:
Dwarf king,
Mounted Dwarf king,
Bear Lord,
Multi-part champion,
Master builder,

Misc:
Living ancestors,
Mortar and crew,

Not my problem if they failed to test the material before going all out on it.
Really not my fault. And in fact, I liked my Warcast models which I got.

And until the Iron Guard or the Doomcrusher are actually available, they're still on the To-Do list.

Is "Warcast" the good stuff, or the not so good "PVC" with size and quality issues?

The Dwarf priest is a nice looking model but the right arm doesn't look sculpted to adequately rank up in a unit which is unfortunate. I've bought the Berzerker(slayer proxy) and Ranger Dwarf box sets and have been delighted to have gotten them but the one weakness the models have is that they are not designed to rank up that well. This is something I feel that GW does well but doesn't often get credit for in its product line

So where's the problem?

You backed an indiegogo project assuming it would be just another pre-order like so many other companies do, and then are pissed off because the company encountered unexpected setbacks, or the fact that instead of simply folding and going belly up, AoW decided to find a way to still go trough with their release, even if it meant falling way behind schedule?

You'd rather they simply dropped the ball and gave up?

I agree with you on some points, but disagree on others. As with any crowdfunding campaign there will always be a risk of the project not being successful in the end. That is a risk, and people should be aware of it and consider it before backing. I totally agree with you on this. However, AoW has not been doing (in my opionion) their best to actually make sure to actually complete the campaign. AoW keep releasing and working on other items rather than the dwarven ones (yes, I do realise that they too have to make a living, but then maybe they should be working an extra hour each day, or maybe an extra day on a weekend once or twice a month, etc.). Their second issue, which I find more disturbing in this entire matter, is that AoW is showing an utterly amazing poor communication (and thus respect) towards their backers. There are pretty much no information about any progress at all. They should, once or twice each month, give feedback and input on how the project is progressing. Even a little and very slow progress each month is better than none and I'd be sure that a lot of backers would accept and support them. Now, it's pretty much months of silence, then new items are released for their other range.

If they would only put a single hour into communicating with their supporters of the IGG project once a month, there would probably have been a lot less annoyance by backers. Personally, I like their products, but I will make sure that each time I recommend people buying it to also recommend that they buy through a retailer, because there are delays, lack of communication and other issues with AoW directly.

But, again, with all this said, you are right about it being a crowdfunding project and people will have to expect it. But in the same time, using the "it's a crowdfunding project" point does not automatically give you a "Get out of Jail free card". You still have obligations to take care of. So it really goes both ways.

Remember everyone, this campaign was set up in the early days of Crowdfunding, when things were treated like quick and easy pre-orders by the creators of these campaigns, so it should be no surprise that the backers backed with the same kind of attitude.

Sadly, everything that grefven says regarding communication is unfortunately accurate, as does his comment about the various other releases. Did you know that the Doomcrushers got backed up by the Vestals by months and months? Which of the two kits do you think should be the priority in getting out?

Warcast was their spun-cast resin. Their PVC tooling however has been pretty good (better than Mantic's) in my experience. I thoroughly liked my PVC Dwarf Pathfinders.

Strange business practice indeed, I have avoided buying anything online from them and have only ever bought from a local bricks and mortar shop to ensure I have no hassle with waitinig long periods...I have followed the anecdotes from users here about problems with getting orders fulfilled and I am sure others have done similar.

Yeah, I have a tendency to just buy stuff from Miniature Market so I know it's in stock and is coming. Might cost me a bit on not pre-ordering but it makes me feel safe

That said they make some very very nice models.

So it appears the Vestals are finally finished and have already started shipping with some people already reporting to have received their sets, although from what I've read the reception to the regiment has been extremely mixed. Some people think they're good quality for the price while others think the set is really disappointing.

Personally i'm not surprised the set didn't turn out that well, from a distance the sculpts looked decent but when you looked at the closeup images they were pretty badly sculpted. (For example, all the models suffered from a severe case of Blow-up doll mouth...) Its a shame that AoW wasted almost a years worth of production time on a single regiment that despite being one of their best selling pre-orders to date just hasn't been receiving a good early reception so far.

Some good news though is that AoW has received the Doomcrusher test models in PVC and they look fantastic.
We did receive the first test shots and they were indeed excellent, by far the best PVC plastic regiment we've made so far.

Some noses needed a bit of tweaking, so that is being fixed for the last few weeks.

We are aiming now for a February shipping. I know it’s been a long wait, and this new extra-delay is very disappointing, but I can assure that when you have your preorder deal Doomcrushers on the gaming board it will have been worth the wait. These are very good indeed!

You can check here close pics of the plastic production test shots for you to see for yourself.

AoW has also released 6 new metal character models, i think they all look good except for the Lord of Warg model. I just can't tell if the sculpt has fething horrible proportions or if the photograph was just taken at an impossibly awkward angle. I'm also not a fan of the split helmet on the Tower of Torment, the bodywork on the model is just fantastic but AoW really should've gone with either a fully mutated head or a fully enclosed helm or at the very least slipped in multiple head options to add some variety.
