Way to go. Insult people and try to start a topic.

Because you are obviously late to this topic I'll clarify; You can see that it was edited twice, in order to give a one sentence explanation of the link, for the first responders who all completely misconstrued the topic because they didnt bother reading the article.

But [sarcasm] you knew all that because you arnt daft, nor were you to lazy to read the thread before responding. [/sarcasm]

Regardless, there are much better insults to use than calling someone silly., and im just ribbing you before you take serious offense.

jonolikespie: thanks for that post! From what i gather, that sums up the Australian condition perfectly, and im glad that you guys are making your voices heard!

Combat Company's mentioned that they are the largest B&M store in the Southern Hemisphere and that GW only makes up 10-15% of their revenue.
I have no idea if Nottingham is listening but we are sure as hell shouting their way

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Thanks for the explanation. I was really tired when I read that, and after reading other threads where people were insulting each other, I thought, here is another one. Glad that wasn't the case.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

If anyone still cares, all involved parties received this today.

Dear Sir / Madam

Please see the attached letter and decision document in respect of the notification of exclusive dealing lodged by Games Workshop Oz Pty Limited. For the reasons set out in the decision document, the ACCC considers that the notified conduct is unlikely to have the purpose, effect or likely effect of substantially lessening competition in any market. Accordingly, the ACCC does not intend to take any further action at this time.

Kind regards

Despite the public submissions, the ACCC has allowed Games Workshop to proceed.

And so GW continues it's brilliant strategy of making the most amount of money from the least amount of people.

I'd say I'm going to stop buying GW products, but that ship has kind of already sailed. GW released several armies I collect this year and yet I've bought almost nothing.

So I know I don't speak for all Australians and my this is my own personal opinion based on my own personal experiences and it's not solid facts, ect, ect, but I think this could kill GW in Australia.

We already saw earlier in this places like Combat Company considering GW irrelevant and even tiny online stores that where formed around GW products now only getting half their revenue from there. This will effectively kill those stores too carry non GW products and the big ones that do will simply drop GW rather than have to deal with this gak.

Already we've seen GW losing ground on all fronts to the competition due mostly to the ludicrous pricing here, from what I have seen there simply aren't physical stores that rely on them in any way. All our FLGS seem to be either held up by Magic, be a GW store themselves, or be a large gaming store that deals in a half dozen different games where they might keep some minimal GW stock on hand but you never see anything actually played in store.

Honesty I think GW is going to kill the only stores that still need them with this, the other stores will just drop GW and let them continue fading into obscurity.

That was my first thought too; if GW is accounting for something like 10% of a stores sales, why would they jump through more hoops to sell it? At this point, GW seems to need the FLGS more than they need GW, so I suspect most will be able to call GW's bluff.

It does all sound like something that'll be largely ignored until GW wants to try and shut someone down.

It's funny how that sort of statement from them can go under the radar until you experience it first hand. The Combat Company held a small con a couple of months ago. The first day was demo day. There were about 15 tables, covering almost everything. Firestorm Armada, X-Wing, Relic Knights, Wild West Exodus, Malifaux, Infinity, Bolt Action, All Quiet on the Western Front, Zombicide and more. And then there was the 40k table and the Space Hulk table. Space Hulk was unfortunately unpainted but fully set up, but the 40k table was on a nicely painted RoBB with citadel terrain, with beautifully painted Daemon and Blood Angel armies.

The tables were packed all day. Except the 40k and Space Hulk tables. I saw one game of 40k in the morning, then the guys running those tables got so bored from lack of interest they wondered off to have demos of other games themselves. The atmosphere was great, everyone was talking, gaming and having an awesome day, just not at the 40k or Space Hulk tables.
