I think these box sets look pretty good!

I am awfully tempted to pick up the German one and American... I don't have an American army... yet..

Nah. Even the Russian armor selections are really samey; had it been 2+3 T-34s, 3 SU-100s and 100+ infantry, that would have been perfect.

And then the price point would have been pushed way up.

I agree that the lack of infantry in the Soviet box is annoying. But adding a full-on Soviet Strelk Company to the box (to compare with the platoons in the other boxes) would have made it too expensive as a jumping-off point.

I don't know, dropping the number of vehicles (as he suggested) should mitigate the addition of the infantry spues.

How so? The Americans and Germans are 12-13 armor + 48 infantry.

I proposed Soviets having 8 armor + 100 infantry

My proposed Soviet mix drops 5 armored transports for the extra infantry - that's not a fair trade?

With that, perhaps.

But then I don't think you'd have had a legal formation. You need at least two "companies" of T-34s.

Hm. I'm surprised that there's no legal way to field something like what I suggested.

It's pointed up as a 'hero' list. Tank companies are 3-4 tanks. the minimum tanks in a Tankovy list is 7.

51 infantry (with SMGs) are a maxed out Motostrelkovy Company in that list. (39 for tank riders).

You could do a Peredovoye Otryad out of Red Bear.

1 CiC 34
1 2iC rifle

21 +1 + Kom of compulsory Moto
7 T34 of Compulsory tanko

Problem is you are a jeep or a M3a1 short of an accurate HQ slot and the Moto is all SMG.

True. I can't see BF making a plastic Soviet jeep any time soon though, they don't even make a resin one (the Command Decision range is the only one IIRC). Plastic M3A1s on the other hand...

I understand not wanting to cut their own throats on the pricing to make them regular stock items, but I agree that limited availability like that does kind of suck. I might've snagged the Russian one later, but I'm not sure I'd want to add to the (already immense) FoW painting queue for a while nor would May be particularly well-timed for me. C'est la vie.

Pull the SU-100s instead of the T-34s, and I think you'd be legal.

Not as much variety, though. And the big cats will be more of an issue.

Oh, Wayland Games. Didn't see that when I was reading dakka on the Kindle. Just double-checked and it still doesn't show there for some reason.

Thanks for the heads up, Ghaz!

The articles for each of these three boxes are featured at the top of BF's front page. Hopefully these will be out soon.

Still no update in the release schedule section of the page, though.
