These lists are roughs since we were practicing for an upcoming RTT, we were just trying our lists out to see what we could do with points. This is my first battle report, I have read tons on this site, and after reading Thor's and DoP's reports, I feel I tried to mold my report into their style, ie I didn't delve into the details, I just explained the pictures and the major points. Please let me know if its difficult to read for any reason.

My opponents nickname is Dude, but for jokes a few of our club refer to him as Duke, I may have used both names in this report, here goes:

Wiley's list:
Vulkan Hestan
Korsarro Khan on bike

Command squad on bikes with 4 storm shields, 3 lightning claws and a thunder hammer

6 X 5 Bikes each squad has 2 melta guns, a pf serg and a Multimelta attack bike

Duke's list: (from memory till he sends it to me)
Company command with 4 plasmas in chimera, medi pack

Infantry plattoon with:
command section with 4 flamers in chimera
3 infantry platoons in chimeras with autocannon and melta
2 special weapon platoons, one with 2 demo packs and flamer, one with 2 meltas and a flamer (ride in vendetta/valkyrie)

Veteran squad with 3 meltas and a demo pack in chimera

9 man Psyker Battle Squad in chimera

Vendetta Gunship

Valkyrie Gunship

Executioner

2 Hydras

Manticore

Mission:
MAUL RATS

“I love the smell of commerce in the morning!”

Deployment – Dawn of War IGNORING Night Fight.

SPECIAL RULES: The Characters: Before deployment, the player that deploys first chooses ONE unit in their army to be either “Brodie & T.S.” or ”Jay & Silent Bob” and ONE unit in their army to be “LaFours” or “Brandi’s Dad”. The other player then does the same with the characters names that the first player did not choose.

Primary Objective “This is MY Mall” – Use the Seize Ground Mission Rules per the 40k Rulebook (page 91) with the following Exceptions – 1.) ALL units in your army count as Scoring Units. 2.) Every Table will automatically have 5 Objectives. Each objective counts as one of Five Different places in the Mall: The Game Show Stage, The Easter Bunny, Stan Lee, “Time For Cookies” and The Sailboat Picture.

Secondary Objective “Do all there is to do at the Mall” – If you have CONTROLLED EACH of the Objectives at ANYTIME during the game you achieve this objective. You DO NOT have to have controlled them all at the same time. Players should note every Objective when they control it DURING the game. Both players may claim this objective.

Tertiary Objective “Win back the girls and Fly Fat A5$ Fly!” – If your Brodie & T.S. or your Jay & Silent Bob are still alive and not fleeing at the end of the game AND your opponents LaFours or Brandi’s Dad is dead or fleeing at the end of the game, you score this objective. Both players may claim this objective.

I named my command squad jay and silent bob and named Khan LaFours, Duke named his company command J&SB and the special weapons team with 2 meltas LaFours

The Long View
Objectives and terrain:

We rolled off and I got to deploy first and set up thus:

Careful to stay behind cover in case the initiative was stolen on me, but he deployed a chimera behind a building on my far left and failed to Seize, here comes Khan's Biker boyz!

Everyone zoomed up for me to nab the teriary objective in turn 1! every squad (except vulkan) turbo boosted and I pass the turn
The parking Lot arrives:

from left to right: Chimera with vets, Hydra, Hydra, Leman Russ Executioner, Infantry, Infantry, Psyker battle squad, company command, command section, I guess another infantry platoon and off to the far right is the Manticore that smoked. His shooting almost takes out the front most squad, leaving only the serg with fist staring at a wall of tanks, the rest is mostly ineffective

my deadpool after turn 1

Turn 2: I surge everyone forward, advancing on the targets that I feel are my biggest threats, here i blew the turret off the manticore through its smoke!

Here you can see I stunned 1 hydra, blew the turret off the Leman russ then assaulted it to no avail, immobilized an infantry chimera and stunned the PBS chimera, time for the IG to bring the pain!

He seemed upset that I crippled the manticore, so the infantry platoon, manticore and vendetta try to bring the pain on my right flank!

the hydras and vets open up on the left flank and somehow do nothing, there was some damage to the 2 squads in the middle of the table near his executioner but nothing too bad, the plasma command and flamer command open up on my bike squad in the front and rain death to all but the attack bike, PSB ran away and smoked and because He couldn't move the Russ my bikers threw some grenades at it and blew it up.

Turn 3 sees me really lay the melta death, I advance on the parking lot blowing up the hydras, the vet chimera, wrecking the plasma command chimera (which was in assault thus killing the command squad because chimeras only have back hatches), I blow 2 lascannons off the vendetta, and other miscellaneous carnage, next up, demo pack death!

his demo toting vets decided that hanging out in a wreckage was bad form, especially with all the bikers around, so they hoof it towards the bike squad that blew up both hydras and unload their melta death and throw a suitcase of pain at them, deleting them from existence!

The vendetta dumps its flamer/melta troops out and then backs up to hoping to stay out of melta range, and manages to kill all but the attack bike but since he rapid fired his flashlights he couldn't charge.

The middle of the field is a mess, those pesky PSB are finally causing me heartache, Duke not wanting my command squad in the middle of his army decides to lower their ld to 2 then unload a ton of shooting to get thru their feel no pain and 3+ invul saves to get 2 wounds thru, morale check sees them fall back to still within 6 of the chimera, he wounds the attack bike and laughs at vulkan who was standing around in the difficult terrain

turn 4, my bikers didn't really like watching their brethren be blown to bits before their very eyes, so they return the favor to the vets.

The bikers in the back decide that enough is enough and they blow up the PSB chimera, during assault the serg pf and vulkan tag team the company command chimera to blow it up.

and some crafty shooting sees my attack bike move close to the vendetta, but also within charge distance of the special weapons team, and the other move back to be within melta range, and I shoot him first, blowing the vendetta outta they sky, so in turn the other one shoots and assaults the special weapon team.

speaking of suitcases of pain....the valk shows up hauling the other special weapons team, and they jump out and drop their 2 suitcases...eradicating all but the attack bike! who fails his morale check and hoofs it

my turn he keeps running trying to shoot down the valk on the run, to no avail

carnage ensues in the middle of the field as I position my command squad to claim 2 objectives, my bike squad blows up the chimera then assaults the infantry platoon, and completely wiff staying locked in combat, the pf serg rolls into the PSB overseer and wiffs staying locked up, vulkan flames the command section blowing them away.

He moves up to claim an objective, but fails to kill the attack bike, so when the game doesn't end, Duke surveys the field and decides to call it, giving me the middle two objectives to win the primary

and I claimed the secondary and tertiary as well, victory for the Biker Boyz!

He got ALL of his tanks in fron reserve turn 1!?

Parking lot indeed. For running a mech list, it really didn't look like he did a lot of movement. It sort of looked like he just poked his face just barely onto the board so that you could beat it in with meltaguns and powerfists. Likewise, moving the manticore on the field and having SMOKE be his first action was painfully loltastic.

I think this really came down to you taking the initiative by deploying way forward and then pinning him down to his table edge. He could have used his mobility to easily outmaneuver you and just take a bunch of objectives, but you did a good job of getting a noob-in-the-headlights look out of him.

All biker marines have been a tough matchup for Mech IG. Turbo-boost in the middle of the table and the IG have nowhere to go before their tanks are melta'd and assaulted everywhere.

Toughness 5 wrecks flashlights, and add that to a 3+ save and feel no pain, and its something like 200 flashlight shots do 5 wounds or something HORRIBLE like that. Although, in saying that, the "spotlights" on chimeras do well. That bike list would ruin my IG list, with all that turbo boost cover save and such, although i do have 3 hydras

Mission is modified dawn of war, so they weren't in reserve, they were in dawn of war reserve.

Manticores are ordinance barrage, so they can't move and shoot like normal ordinance, popping smoke was his really only decision, though the placement concerns me, smoke was a good idea.

Duke and I discussed it beforehand and knew it was a tough matchup for his army, he even said the words "I think I'll be alright as long as I get to go first..." which lead to his inevitable demise! those are always famous last words! Toughness 5 and 3+ cover saves proved too much in the end, since i was able to get within multi-melta range while sustaining minimal losses.

Just to clarify, ordnance barrage weapons CAN move and fire. However, they have to be stationary to fire in barrage mode. Essentially, they can move on to the board and fire like a normal ordnance weapon (no minimum range, require LOS, always subtract BS from scatter and cover is determined by LOS from firing unit, no pin checks) and on turns they stand still have the option of firing the weapon as regular ordnance or as a barrage. My rule book is in the garage at the moment but its clearly stated in the ordnance barrage rules.

Vehicle killing is what bikers do dude. You didn't notice the 2x melta + multimelta + powerfist in each squad?

Panzer has the right of it, Wiley. The Manticore may fire directly just like Ordnance (as all Ordnance Barrage weapons may do). BRB pg 58, rt column, 2nd paragraph.

I use two in my list and have fired them indirectly a total of once EVER.

Can't wait to go to the Maul! See you next week.

Actually, there are a couple of guard ordnance barrage vehicles that MUST fire in barrage mode, (no direct fire option, like Griffons). That said, Manticores aren't in that category. The proper use of the manticore was to show up and start instant deathing stuff.

Apparently no non-guard player understands how guard artillery work, but to see a guard player that doesn't understand it is tragic

Oh tough, sure.

That said, if he would have moved everything 12" and popped smoke on his first turn, he would have gotten troops on objectives and you would have had a hard time killing him the next turn. From there, he could have moved anywhere on the board and claimed all the objectives, or he could have just sat there on the objectives and fought you off. I mean, he basically killed your army. The only reason he still lost, even though he killed so much was because he was SERIOUSLY timid with his movement. Of course, you bike charging him was probably largely responsible for his decision to kill your units on his board edge than on the objectives.

Well thats good to know, the bad part is, he read it right after the game started, I asked him if he was sure that was how the manticore worked, he responded "yes, sadly", so I'll make sure he understands this for the future.

Cool I know some other guys that play up there pretty often, i haven't been up there in in a while. See you at the Maul! I will be working on another battle report this week.
