Hey guys, I know it's been a while since I posted here, but as you all know, things have been a little busy.

With the lawsuit nearing a close (yes this means there are a couple of things to iron out), I figured it would be a good time to let you all know about the new line of bags coming out from Outrider Hobbies. I know, I know, why another line of bags. Everyone makes bags. Who cares about one more line of bags? Well, me for one, but I think I'm a bit biased.

Now, I'm not going to say these are the greatest bags ever. Although they are pretty good.

I'm not going to say these bags are going to revolutionize the industry. But I am shocked that something like it hasn't been done before.

So without further delay, I present the first of Outrider Hobbies Force Operations bags, The Ranger.

The Ranger uses standard Outrider Hobbies Foam Corps trays measuring 7.5x13". It holds two stacks of foam about 9" tall. Access to the foam is provided by a top and side opening allowing you to remove the trays without having to squeeze the trays to get them in or out.

There are four pockets around the bag. Two on either end capable of holding hardcover A4 sized books, and two on the side that doesn't zip down. The pockets use a velcro closure, and the pocket flap has been finished so you don't see the cut fabric and sewing when the pocket is opened.

The bag is supported by a rigid plastic sheet in the bottom of the bag, another in the top, and a foam laminated fabric on the inside of the sides and top. The foam helps to support the bag, and also provide an additional layer of foam padding for your models.

Finally, no longer do you have to be content with whatever SINGLE color the manufacturer decides to provide, you get your choice. (From a selection of course, but at least it's more than one)

Maybe a red one?

Or maybe you're a former Marine/child of a Marine/current Marine/friend of a Marine/etc.?

And best of all, these bags were designed and MADE in the USA.

Now, these bags are not available yet for purchase from our website. I have contacted a web developer to rework the site, and the bags will be available there as soon as it is complete.

FAQ
Q: How much do the bags cost?
A: US Army Digital Camo, Charcoal Gray - $65, Custom non-camouflage color - $75, Custom camouflage - Not yet finalized. Cost will be higher due to material costs. I am working with the manufacturer.

Q: What colors are available?
A: Red (obviously), Gray, Charcoal Gray, Dark Green, Olive Green, Blue, Navy, Black

Q: What Camouflage patterns?
A: US Army Digital, USMC Digital, USAF Tiger Stripe, US Woodland, and maybe more.

Q: Why are the other colors more expensive?
A: Because they are ordered in smaller lots. Also, the other camouflage is usually a different material and has higher costs as well.

Q: Why camouflage?
A: WHY NOT? We play WARGAMES, what's more appropriate to a wargame than camouflage?

Q: Can they be purchased from a local retailer?
A: Of course! I am working slowly, but I am trying to work with retailers as much as I can. Locally, almost all of the Arizona stores are carrying them at the moment, and you can also find them at Showcase Comics in Pennsylvania, and Little Wars of Houston.

Q: I didn't see an answer to my question here...
A: Please contact us at info@outriderhobbies.com

Hurry up and get these on the market so that I can buy one.

What size foam do they use? Your own? Sabol size?

Also, do I HAVE to get a camo pattern? Or can I get a bag in just charcoal grey?

I may damn well buy myself a couple of these in ABU pattern (the digital USAF Tiger Stripe, which is what I assume you are referring to by USAF Tiger Stripe).

Looks sharp. I could definitely see using a red one for my Imperial Guard army.

My only question is does the bag come with foam or is it empty?

Thanks Bunker. We are working as fast as we can. I'm hoping the new site will be ready by August 1st, so we can get them up.

As for foam, we use standard size, 7.5x13". At first I wasn't planning on making bags, just foam to go in the bags I already have. Sabol makes a good product, so it made sense to me. If you want to use my bag, and just put in the foam you already have, great. If you want both foam and bag, also great!

As for the Camo vs Charcoal Grey? Those are the two "basic" colors. I realized that not everyone wants camouflage, although they have done pretty well, so I opted for Charcoal Grey as the alternative. So in other words, ACU - $65, Charcoal Gray - $65. You get to pick. But don't forget, for an extra $10, you can pick a different color from our selection. So you aren't even limited to the Charcoal Grey for a solid color option.

Yes, that is exactly what I mean, ABU=Tiger Stripe. Sorry, I just know it as Tiger Stripe.

I consider that a major compliment to be compared to what I consider the industry standard. Thank you.

The quoted prices are for empty bags. I want to add an option for bag and foam, but I need to run some more numbers, and make sure it will work without making the price ridiculous. Once I get that figured out, I will get it worked into the new site.

Look nice, are all the sides reinforced? Once you get a package deal with foam and bag together, I'll have to try one out.

The top and bottom of the bag have plastic inserts.

The sides with the book pockets were actually designed that way on purpose. Instead of making you pay for the additional layer of protection, I figured that since we all have books for our games (rule books, army books, magazines, etc), to use those to provide protection on the ends.

There are two pockets on the long side opposite the zipper for dice and tokens that will add a layer of protection along that side. The original plan was to have pockets on both sides, but during development they were removed due to cost reasons.

In the end, there is one side that is still soft, but it does not seem to be an issue. I took three bags in the back of a truck to California a couple of weeks ago, and they were just fine.

I saw this at Showcase the other day and was wondering where the new bag came from, but I had to head out before I could take a look. I'll make it a point to check it out next time I'm in.

Cool, thanks for the info.
BTW, I'd recomend Digital Urban as a choice. I like the ACU.

Not a problem. I'll see what I can do about the USMC Urban Digital, but it all depends on availability and cost. Let's just say that profit margins on these are pretty tight right now since they are made in the USA (even have a little flag to prove it), but we may be able to get a small run of that pattern if we can get the material. I'll be contacting the manufacturer later this week about some other questions and I'll ask then.

Pop back on and let me know what you think after you do. I've had good response, but most of it has been from locals who know me. I'd love to get some more feedback from the other side of the country.
