This was my first tournament, and my first time going to 2000 points. I generally play 1500-1850, so I put together a pretty ramshackle list for this tournament. We were to try 3 missions that could go to GT's or not, depending on how we rated them.

My List:
CCS, Creed, 3x plasma, medic, astropath, OotF
-Chimera (HHF)
Veterans, 3x Meltaguns
-Chimera (HHF)
Veterans, 3x Plasma Guns, Carapace Armor, Bastonne
-Chimera (HHF)
Veterans, 3x Meltaguns
Platoon Command Squad, 2x Flamer, Lascannon
Infantry Squad, Autocannon, Grenade Launcher
Infantry Squad, Autocannon, Grenade Launcher
Vendetta
Guardsman Marbo
Ratlings (10)
Leman Russ Battle Tank, Plasma Cannon Sponsons, Hull Lascannon
Leman Russ Battle Tank, Heavy Bolter Sponsons, Hull Lascannon
Manticore, Hull Heavy Flamer
Basilisk, Hull Heavy Flamer

Mission 1: Really lame modified KP: Each FOC slot you take counts as 1 kp. You add all of those (dedicated transports do not count) and divide it by 2, then round up. For example, I had 11, 11/2=5.5->6, You then add 2, making mine 8. If your opponent gained your amount of modified KP's before you did, they get an automatic massacre.
This really hurt all-mech armies, as you'll see in this battle, as each transport counted as a KP, even though they were not added in the original count. Also, immobilized counts as a KP.

Victory Conditions:

Massacre: Reach Wipeout! before your oponnent, in which the game automatically ends. (the modded KP's)
Major Victory: Win with having 30% or more of your army than your oponnent
Minor Victory: Win with having 2% or more of your army than your oponnent

Pretty much, if you win before the game ends (getting the KP's, you get an auto-massacre, ending the game)

My oponnent's SoB list:

1 Celestian w/ retinue, with immolator
4 squads of basic witchhunter troops, all rhinos
2 of the jumppackers (seraphim?)
3 exorcists

For this battle, my opponent had 7 KP's for the massacre, however, he had 11 available. So if I killed all his vehicles (he had 7), I would win.

We roll off, I go and deploy first. My deployment:

The infantry squads combine, PCS takes bottom floor, Infantry squads try to get good autocannon coverage. CCS is on the right of the building, Russes on the left, unpainted and unprimed chimera has plasmavets, primed chimera has meltavets. Bassie and Manticore hang behind the building.
I hold Marbo and the MeltaVendetta in Reserve, and hold my Ratlings to infiltrate.

His Deployment

This is actually a pic from my Turn 1, but you get the picture. He reserves 2 rhinos and both seraphim squads.

I put my ratlings in the middle building.
Turn 1: IG
Movement: I move my veterans and commander up, not too much, and reposition my russes a bit.

Shooting:
Manticore is an amazing vehicle, kills off a bunch of his stuff. I wreck 1 exorcist and immobilize and WD one, so it counts as a KP (Immobilized counts as a KP)

Turn 1: SoB
Movement:

He moves what he can (2 rhinos, immolator, and repositions his last exorcist)
Wisely, he also bails everyone the feth out of their vehicles.
Shooting: I think he shot his exorcist at one of my chimers, but it didn't do anything.

End of Turn 1: IG:2
SoB: 0

Turn 2: IG
Marbo arrives.
Movement: I move my chimeras closer to where he bailed his stuff out, not much else.
Shooting:
Again, the Manticore is the star of the battle. I rolled a 6 for the D3, and got all hits. Since it was Multiple Barrage, I was able to spread it out so that I hit all 3 vehicles, wrecking all 3.
Marbo also throws his demo pack and kills 3 or 4 sisters, but they pass their LD check.

Turn 2: SoB
He wisely moves almost everything into area cover, his Seraphim comes in, right in front of a chimera and blow it up. Maybe the exorcist did it, not sure. He also blows the hell out of my Ratlings and they break. He also smokes Marbo with the remaining SoB from the squad he tried to blow up. Anyway, that's about it for SoB turn 2.

End of Turn 2: IG: 5
SoB: 2

Turn 3: IG
Vendetta fails to come in.
Movement: I moved my command chimera a bit, that's about it.
Shooting: I shot the living feth out of the Seraphim squad with a HF, a ton of lasguns, 3 meltagun shots from the meltavets, and 6 plasma shots from my plasmavet chimera. However, he uses a faith point and goes invuln for the turn, but only one lived at the end of it.

Turn 3: SoB:
His rhino and seraphim come in. Seraphim DS right in front of my Platoon Building.
Movement: His rhino powerslides to my command chimera and the basic sisters with meltaguns come out.

Shooting: His Seraphim promptly blaze my platoon with hand flamers, killing 11 out of the 20, but they pass their LD check.
His melta sisters also blow up the command chimera.
He also kils another chimera with his exorcist.
The Meltavets also die somewhere along the line.

End of Turn 3:
IG: 5
SoB: 5

Turn 4:
My vendetta comes in.

Movement: My plasma vets come in for the final blow against the lone seraphim. My vendetta drops off meltavets behind the exorcist.
Shooting: My Vendetta and meltavets waste the exorcist, and my plasma chews through the final seraphim. I reached 7 KP's, auto-massacre.

Board at the end of the battle(Vendetta and exorcist not visible):

I win with a massacre, for the moment.

Post-Battle Analysis: This scenario was absolute bull. The auto-massacre was ridiculous, we confronted the TO and talked to him about it. All of the winners had gone off with massacres, and after some debate, we changes it to by how many KP's there were for a difference. I won by 2, in this case, so I got a minor victory. Everyone but 1 person lost their massacre status, but we felt like it was fair.

Final score: Minor Victory = 11 BP

Next up, IG v. Chaos SM!

Nice report. I look forward to the next game. Also like your polkadot Basilisk, though it didn't seem to do much in this game.

However, as another IG player, one thing stuck out at me; do you always play the Manticore with the Multiple Barrage rules? In the few times I've used it, I've used the normal scattering method for each blast. I guess since GW hasn't said anything official about it, then it's up to you, your opponents and the TO's discretion.

My Forces:
DA Consecrators- 2000 points' worth, currently shelved

Imperial Guard - about 2000 points' worth, soon to be expanded

Christmas Orks - 1750 points' worth

The Basilisk was an E-Bay nightmare, I'm going to prime it ASAP.

Anyway, I Use Multiple Barrage when I'm firing it as Barrage, if I have LOS, just normal blasts. My opponent and I had a little argument, I thought that Multiple Barrage was when it was like a squad of barrage (like 3 bassies), but the wording said something along the lines of when "multiple barrage shots" were shot, so I used that.
