Some new helmets I´m making.
As before, you are welcome to suggest alterations before I send them to casting. Something you really want to change and I will do that if enough want it. Just keep it reasonable

Im trying to please a wide range of tastes here (not to mention my own) so hopefully something nice can be found amongst them.

Some pre heresy ultramarine themed helmets first:

Some "zealot" themed helmets, got the idea from the redemptionist range and from LoTD style with metal bars and burning coal brazieres:

Did something for tanks like preds, vindies, whirlies and sisters of battle immolators that go in the same style. This can be glued on a vehicle side and filled with trophies or a pre made coal/flame piece that I´m working on:

On demand some spartan themed helmets. Did them armoured all through, dont want bare faces looking behind the masks, gives a more sci fi look to them. They are still a bit rough (WIP) though.

Hope you like them and as said, I can re-sculpt things if you demand it enough.

Liking the Spartan style helmets the most. With or without the crests they look pretty tasty.

Can't help thinking 'Army of Two' for the Ultra stuff.

The vehicle braziers are a good idea too, good thinking!

Not really a fan of the first few, look too rounded and techy for Space Marines, but I LOVE the ones with plumes.. maybe if yuo could get something along the lines of the second or third of these i think they are Mk3s and Mk4s

The rounded style is inspired from the heresy art on ultramarines.
If I make them non rounded (non iron man-ish) then the wont be ultra styled any more:(

The eyes of the first bunch look a bit off, the tears like things on the first helmet look pretty bad too. Beyond that I'm really digging them! The helmets with the plumes and the more zealot ones look amazing!

These look very nice. One request: I think people would very much appreciate being able to specify which combination of heads they want when they order. This is something that e.g. MaxMini do with their heads/shoulder pads and so forth, which I think is a great idea. People may want (as I do) squads or even their whole armies to have uniform a uniform look so only want a small number of the designs.

I understand that this sort of thing is hard to do after you've made your master moulds (as you may end up with excess of some designs, if some sell better than others) so thought I should mention it now.

(Would also be great if you could do the same with your existing set of Heresy-era helmets,)

I like the Spartan helmets.

The others look a bit rough, to be honest. I realise some of that is just down to being blown up to a gazillion times actual size, but it's off-putting.

Love the sconces (sp?) for the tanks!

For SOB Immolators etc, maybe make one with a fleur-de-lys instead of chaosy-arrow at the top of each vertical band? AFAIK there is no trademark on a fleur-de-lys. You could always market them as "Quebecois torch-holders"

I like the first zealot themed helmet, especially the intakes that curve along the back of the helmet. The intakes are a good element that could add detail to some of the other helmets as well.

First lot look like cybermen heads without the bars at the top.

The brazier/portcullis ones are the bees knees. Would look wonderful on a post heresy, and heresy word bearers army.

They look over-sized compared to the normal heads, but maybe I'm imagining things with the plastic torsos.

Agreed with everyone on these. I think your spartan helments are spot on. As per the rest the only ones I think pre-heresy or solid are the ones with the plumes as they can fit in well if someone is building for the unifacation wars.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Yeah,

I got my first look at alot of these today. I do like the Spartan heads alot, and think they will appeal to most Marine players. Alot of the first heads though are way to robotic for me (I told Pyriel as much).

When we discussed doing more heads, I wanted more Heresy era helmets (or similiar). I think there is a bit too much deviation on these though.

Py, something you may consider.. sculpting some eagle wings on some of the mask, sort of how the honor guard has on them, that would rock, especially considering we dont have any models available for those anywhere.

I do agree we are missing some nicely done Mk 2-4 style helmets.

PS Its amazing what would happen if you added some studs here and there on some of these very round helmets.

PSS For those requesting we sell heads in single groups. The cost to do that is crazy, we would have to make a mold for each head, and if you see how many heads there are... well you get the idea. Maxmini tries to do this, and they have issues doing it as well, both with supply and molding..

Be on the look out for a major model announcement coming up this week... its been long in progress.

Look again then.
Besides, not a very constructive critique...

You need to be specific with the amount of deviation the next time then.
You know I am more of a better-safe-then-sorry-guy.

Good idea. Will look into it.

PS Its amazing what would happen if you added some studs here and there on some of these very round helmets.

Specifics please. What helmets and where to put the studs?

I had the same thought

I actually like the first lot too. Very insectile/robotic, true, but that will suit some chapters perfectly.

Maybe, insect themed chapters like mantis could do with them.
But I´ll try and alter them to be less deviating as per the requests.

I like these. They're much more original than anything I think I've seen from you yet, which to me speaks of more good things to come.

The pre-heresy helms are kind of rough, but I like them.

The real winners are those Spartan helms. Since I want to do a unit of Marines like that at some point, I might actually have to break down and get those.

Honestly, I would read Horus Heresy Collected Visions if I were you. Most of those helmets look like nothing that a space marine would ever wear.

For a comparison, look at MaxMini's Steam Knight Helmets.
They look very accurate.

you need it to be more constructive than, "I think its too high tech looking for space marines"?

...Because "boooo ultramarines" is a constructive thing to say?

Please come up with a decent reply on constructive critique other then last ditch deflecting.
A nice list of exactly what you think is ugly and what ought to be altered and to what would be a good hint!

You were the one that started with "boooo ultramarines" so man up and give me something I can use instead!

Could you make Pre-heresy space wolf helmets?

Also alot of them really do look like Iron Man, thats my major turn off. But the one modeled after a Roman Centurian hit it on the nail.

Yes I could. But be more specific about what you are looking for since I can do PH wolf helmets but then hearing a lot of "its not it" wouldnt help me nor you.

As for the iron man look, what can I say, it is exactly that style that the PH um helmets are made in in the art. I followed the theme with some alterations as not to make carbon copies.
I´m thinking about remaking some things to be less deviant and maybe adding ideas like winged faces like Nick suggested.

I like these. They're much more original than anything I think I've seen from you yet, which to me speaks of more good things to come.

The pre-heresy helms are kind of rough, but I like them.

Well I like them for one and will use them in my own salamanders army for sure.
I know the iron man look doesnt suit every one but it is what makes them PH. Maybe 2 out of 10 people will like them and that is still a win in my book.
The whole thing is bringing variety and PH themes on to the tabletop.

This also leaves anotehr issue, upcoming helmet themes like wolf, egyptian etc where people were suggesting skull looking helmets and jackal helmets like from stargate, all those I can and wanted to do but now I´m not so sure any more.
They are not supported in the PH art and we´ll just end up with a long line of people complaining about jackal helmets not looking SM.ish.
I really need to think things through and ditch a lot of current ideas for upcoming PH helmet ranges.
No more far fetched ideas, its going to be more close to the PH art.

For a comparison, look at MaxMini's Steam Knight Helmets.
They look very accurate.

Not really, just a few do, the ones with no distinct concepts on them.
They are overly generic.
They mix dark angel, ultramarine, 1ksons and death guard styles in one big pile with helmets displaying several distinct features fitting in multiple legions on one helmet.

I want to do helmets that are as pure as possible.
Thus no rebreather cartridges or 1ksons ornaments on ultramarine iron man-ish helmets.
If it is a death guard helmet then there are death guard features only etc.
Show me PH art where an iron man helmet has rebreather cartridges for example and then tell me it is "accurate".

And again, if you want to change something then let me know what and I´ll see if I can do it. You have a chance of affecting the look of bitz that are to be casted.
