Dear all,
I'm struggling to paint Black Glass/crystal effectively anyone got any tips or guides on painting this kind of thing as i want to do my Chaplain "Black Eagle" in a Black Glass type power armour.

Cheers in advance.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

Good luck with this...

I guess the best way would be to free hand irregular geometric shapes onto the armour and use very Sharp highlights.

Never seen anyone do something like this before though, so do post some pics when its done

Simple way - Paint black, heavy gloss coat. Lay down a couple different couloured washes to get an oily feel. Then more heavy gloss coats.

Hard way - Buy the Cool Mini or Not painting guide pdf and study up on "Complex Gems" by Glyn Evans. It's a very good step by step for complex gems. Don't know how well it adopts to black as main colour but I would take a shot at it if I were you.

I'd go with the simple method described by Savis. I've done similar before and it came out ok.
