Neophyte Undergoing Surgeries

So I haven't exactly kept up with my wolves after quite some time. When I first started this I realized that the style, models, and all around air of the Wolves of Fenris fit my demeanor well. So its been 5 years or so since I last touched them and boy do they need a paint job! I scored some good deals on ebay and set about getting these back into fighting shape.

I started out with my rune priest, I didn't really like the look of the old model, with the Wilem Dafoe look going on, but I did like the raven for the chooser of the slain, and painstaking chopped it off with possibly the dullest hobby knife in existence. I now realized I need to drop a few bills at the hobby store.

Welcome to Dakka. Before anyone leaves a smartass comment, let me give you some advice for a Painting and Modeling Log - Have something to show or noone is really going to care. You can't really generate a discussion by simply posting that you have some Space Wolf models and just bought some more. There's nothing for anyone else to discuss, comment on, etc. Get some pics up of the models you do have that need to be reworked, or post your "do to" list or something. Otherwise, you're not going to get much feedback.
Looks like I spoke too soon. Not sure why you needed two posts to get pics of the models up, but I guess i was just too quick to comment!

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games |

It looks good so far but I would recommend some highlights onto the blue armour, to really add detail to it.

So the game plan is to create a Great Company in the image of Erik Morkai, which if you non-space puppie lover he's basically a BAMF that doesn't take anything from anyone and drinks a lot. More importantly he organizes a company in a more unconventional way, even for space wolves, utilizing a lot of Wolf Scouts, and fast attack. To symbolize this I plan on mounting most of the troops in rhinos and giving myself a more lightly armed, but more mobile force. And what would a company be without Wolf Scouts. I converted these by digging around my bitz and using extra pieces from the Chaos marauder box sets.

And I'm almost done with my rhino, I know the top isn't the Wolf Morkai symbol but I plan on doing the too like that once I shore up some of my free hand, i'm not too sure about the yellow, I was thinking of a dark, midnight-like blue, I also know it doesn't match but I like the more subdued gray color as compared to the grey-blue of the troops Automatically Appended Next Post: Yea and I haven't picked out names for the vehicles, its a little tough since i have no clue what the norse ones mean, hell, my car's name is Sheniqua, so I'll have to go from there

I plan on having some wolf guard lead my squads to give me some extra punch when I get stuck in, I'm currently experimenting with several ways to paint the wolf/lightning claws

This is the first squad of Grey Hunters I've completed (sort of) with 3 more and and assault squad of blood claws (which are now called skyclaws since it took GW so long to come up with that name) and since they're almost half the points they were in the previous addition. I'm also working on a Wolf Priest to lead them so they can at least take down a couple unfortunate individuals before they transform into a smoking hole in the ground. Currently to make the wolf morkai I've been painting over the water transfers but it really does quite get the look I'm going for, and I definitely don't have the skill/patience/time to get these chumps ready.

So I took the weekend to upgrade my heavy support options to the tune of a predator and some long fangs. I still need to finish the highlighting and throw some more wolfy stuff on there but GW making deducting some of the pointage off some of these chaps only makes them more appealing. I know most people don't like the multi meltas in a devastator squad but i usually get overrun due to myself being a poor tactician so range is never a problem.

Yea I don't have too much in the way of bits and such but I often find that with my level of talent (or lack thereof) the simple conversions are often the best. I have some grey hunters that I'll have to get up, but I've become a big fan of modeling the marines in the kneeling position, its not to hard and really gives the impression that they're actually aiming. I'm currently working on some wolf guard terminators to either have act as a retinue to my rune priest or to split up and have lead my packs. Here's what they look like so far,

Pretty cool blog.
About usage of Norse names. Try for the names of monsters or the names of weapons.
Slephnir- Odin's spear maybe the name of a Predator or land raider?
Kraken- Sea Monster, Vindicator or whirlwind?
Jotun- Giant, land raider or dreadnought?

I do that as well, it's a nice advice. My Dreadnought, for instance, is called Mjolnir (Thor's Hammer).
