With a howl from the heavens that set even the bravest of the Thousand Sons aquiver did the Sons of Russ descend. Once green fields have been turned grey with ash and red with blood. The sapphire blue skies have been tainted black and even the sun itself, once as unblinking as Magnus' eye itself, is now blotted and obscurred by the fearsome battle barges of the Space Wolves.

Doom has come to Prospero, and its name is Leman Russ. At the head of his mighty Great Companies the most feral of all the Primarchs has come to demand fealty and surrender from Magnus and, barring that, death for his crime of disobeying his Father, the God Emperor of Mankind.

But is the battle so assured? Can even the ferocity and bravery of the Space Wolves overcome the hidden mysteries that lurk within the great libraries of Prospero? For the Thousand Sons are a cunning and deadly chapter, and their might is not measured in strength of arms so much as their ability to deal crushing blows through deceit and trickery or via their potent abberrant sorceries!

Has the hunter cornered his prey, or has the Great Wolf simply fallen into a trap he does not yet recognize?

Welcome to a new Genestealer Game. This game follows all the previous rules of my games with the following exceptions;

1. There are new role themes here. The Genestealers are now the canny Thousand Sons and the Imperial Citizens are now the fearsome Space Wolves. At the most basic level these two groups still operate in the same way they always have, but themeatically you might wish to adjust your commentary.

2. New powers! Yes indeed, there are many new powers making their appearance here for the very first time - and I'm not going to tell you what they are. The mysteries of Prospero are many, and I'm afraid you'll just have to discover them on your own.

3. Ratio of powers - in previous games I maintained a roughly 1:1 ratio of scum to power roles. That is not the case in this game. I will verify that there are at least 2 Thousand Sons amongst you and that there are many more pro town power roles then there are Thousand Sons. While the Space Wolves have a lot of new powers, so too do the Thousand Sons, so stay on your toes.

4. Closed Setup - why am I being so secretive about all this? It's because unlike my previous games (who had Open setups so you knew what roles were available) this game is about the mystery and uncertainty of war with the Thousand Sons. Thus the setup is closed and the only information you'll get about what roles other people have is from what you can convince them to admit, or by revelations I'll provide after their death.

5. Fluff - from a pure fluff perspective I am not going to try to explain why some Thousand Sons are mixed in with a bunch of Space Wolves in a room. As such, what your votes and night actions will represent will be the ebb and flow of the Battle for Prospero itself with results and kills happening because of that mighty conflict. You may all still feel free to talk in drunk viking speak if you wish. When you lynch someone basically consider it an attack on what you believe is a vulnerable spot in Magnus' defensive lines. If you lynch correctly then you are rewarded by weakening the Thousand Sons' team, if you lynch incorrectly the attack was repulsed and the casualties are reflected by losing the player you just lynched. This being their home turf explains why the Thousand Sons' attacks are more accurate.

6. Because attacks require coordination - I am not allowing deadline lynches in this game. You need to reach a majority (1/2 + 1) consensus in order to attack (lynch) someone. (Deadlines are planned to be either 10-14 days in maximum length, I'm still debating. Nights will probably be extended to three days as well)

7. Quoting PMs - Because this does seem to need to be restated. Just don't do this! You may feel free to state your role's name and/or the powers it has, but just don't use a quote from me to do so. The same goes for any results you get from night powers, feel free to announce the results but do not do it by quoting a PM directly.

I'll probably be starting this one shortly after all the slots are filled. At a quick glance it looks like n0t_u's game has at least another 3 day phases to get through, and I don't feel like waiting that long.

I've never actually played in one of these games, But I would love to have a chance to try it. Could I?

chowderhead, I'm mostly aiming towards wanting people who'll be able to post regular for the odd 1-2 months the game will take, so new players are a bit riskier since I'm not familiar with how consistent they can be. Do you feel comfortable with the idea of a roughly 2 month forum game?

Indeed you have, and with only a reasonable amount of having to kick me in the backside to make sure the game happened.

We've got another slot potentially filled pending game review.

I'm allowing chowderhead but he'll be probably the only newbie allowed just to help make it so I hopefully don't need to deal with many (if any) replacements. Besides, one new guy will be amusing to add to the mix.

Vadam is also in.

That leaves us two pre-in slots that have not confirmed just yet and 2-3 open slots remaining. I'm liking the look of this player list - if anyone has a player they've played with before who they'd like to play with again you might wish to invite them sooner rather then later, looks like this one will be a solid game.

Thor, I have some bad news. My parents have just informed me that we will be going away for a while (up to a month) on a trip. @Lord of battles - well...I did just have the newbie slot open up again, so I'm willing to entertain the thought. You are aware that these games generally go on for about one and a half to two moths and that you are expected to post more or less on a daily basis to help keep the game moving. As long as you promise to work within that concept and are comfortable with it I'm fine with letting you play.

In other news, Inquisitor_Syphonious joins the ranks set to do battle for the fate of Prospero.

Well n0t_U, we should absolutely finish the game. It will probably only last one dayphase more and it's still very much balancing on a knife's edge. I see no reason to stop right now.
