Hello folks!

Was hoping to document some of my recent painting. I recently started back to WH40K a few months back after beeing absent from the modeling community since HS (34yo now). I have decided to split my Boys squads up by Ork Clan since I usually bring about 120 Boyz to each game at least. I have a Trukk a Battlewagon and some Kans to paint as well. Those however are just primed black for now till I can get my "Rust Weathering" skills perfected.

So far I have
one Squad of 30 Evil Sunz about 80% done
-- First Black wash done
-- Skin highlights done
-- Still need more Orky glyphs and paintjobs

one Squad of 30 Bad Moonz about 50% done
-- Base colors done
-- Skin Highlights done
-- These are all OOP Pewter models

one Squad of Freebooters about 30% done
-- Main example model done
-- Models Primed
-- Getting base colors applied

I like to work using the "Conveyor Belt Method" as I call it. IE getting all the shirts based for all 30 than doing all the pants and so on. As I am the type of player that likes to have some color out on the field, I tend to get things done to a point where I am happy with it. I will then go back after everything is about at the same place, and finish them with highlights and finishing washes/pigments. I should be updating this at least weekly ... hopefully

So0o here they are! Any constructive criticism is welcomed

Looking good. I have those Ork heads... only problem and one which I found... the head looks too big for most orks.. I ended up using it on one of the big metal bosses which was perfect... I think your stuff is great and like I said, bearded orks head seems too big...

Thanks guys

@ Regnak ya those heads are a bit big but I needed some Pirate heads, and my sculpting ability is non existent hehe

I think I am going to make the Battlewagon the "Pirate Wagon" so look for that in the upcoming weeks I need to study and experiment on some of my older models with the techniques from this Blog post

http://ultrawerke.blogspot.com/2007/08/rust-painting-tutorial-with-pigments.html

I seriously LOVE the way this rust turned out. Unfortunately on my test bed (Old Ork Buggy I stripped) I accidentally used too thick of a Pigment wash so it ended up looking like rusty dirt got spread all over it haha

Haven't updated for a while. I have been making an "Ork Base" for the last mission of a campaign myself and a friend have been having. I got a bit of time to do some painting, while I was waiting for supplies to come in, so I thought I would drop a pic of the different colors I am using for the pants.

I have attached pics of said "Fort buildings" I copied the one building from This post TY SO MUCH FOR THE PLANS RickC1971!!!

Pirate Pants are so dope, especially the Teal Black combo!

A Fresh take on Orks man, I'm subscribing to see where this goes for sure, well done.

Good work, keep it up!

Love that you're using the pirate heads for your Freebootaz! They do seem a bit oversized, but I think it'll actually help them fit in with the slightly cartoony look of the older models in your army.

And yes, the Pirate Pants are awesome!

Hay that tower looks really great - outstanding job, cannot wait to see it finished and maybe in play.
