Arch Magos w/ 4 Meg of RAM

Hi y'all!
I grew a bit tired of painting and modeling Fantasy figures and that's why I started Historical. I have 4 boxes of victrix models. 1 british napoleonic flack company (52 models) 1 Napoleonic British highlander flank company(52 models), 1 box of french line infantry, I can build normal guys, voltigeurs and Grenadiers out of them.(60 models), and also a second box of french line infantry, but dating a few more years back then the other French infantry (the have older uniforms, older caps,...) + some metal models.
My 1st project will be Napoleonic era. In the future I will do colonial era and other eras. You could also expect some Pirates in the future.
Anyways, I will not give up on 40k. Might paint some random things up not related to 40k, but will always love it
enough words, here are the 1st 2 models. Warning, pic heavy!
I am not sure what era the 1st model is, but I still painted it. I think Colonial era. I started taking pics of every step I did, But I wont do that anymore, Too much work.
Behold, Major Roger Evans and Pioneer trooper "Shaky".

Good to see some more historical stuff, sadly I think most people on Dakka don't care for Historical stuff. :(

Thanks Arran! I haven't seen much historical on dakka either.
I am already painting up some normal British line infantry. They won't be as good as these 2, but If you need to paint over 200 models, you can't put that much effort in a single miniature. The major took about 1.30 hours to complete and Shaky also took almost 2 hours to complete. I think I will be able to paint the normal guys in just under 45 minutes.

I really like the Imperial guard veteran and the head dress is cool but also the red highlights and and red icons give good contrast to the model. the other models seem to be a little to muddy for my tastes i would like to see some more contrast. that being said they are nicely done, just an aesthetic preference.

The 'Dulle Griet'. just a quick paintjob. I just noticed some paint chipped off the nose. Lets get back to work! Expect some Malifaux shortly, I am going to get some at a local wargames shop.

as promised, here comes Project: Malifaux! I bought a box of gremlins and some 30mm base, and a 50mm base decoration. As you can see, the models are still unpacked. I did fix the bases though. I'll paint the bases 1st, and then I will assemble the models. I have 1 concern though. Will stay glued to the bases or will they tend to break off regularly? the models are provided to fit in slot bases. I am gonna clip off those slots and then glue them to the base. But what is the best way to do this to avoid them to break off from time to time. I was thinking a speckle of greenstuff and then superglue it. (note, i do not have pinning equipment.) what do you suggest? I decided to start work on another model I ad lying around too. The models is meant for my new Goliath gang for Necromunda. still very WIP though.

Great to see more Malifaux! In other games I haven't had any problems with bases before, but pinning will definitely strengthen that connection if you're worried.

thanks for the input mate. the problem is, I don't have any pinning equipment, and I can't and will not buy, I spent my last bit of pocket money on these here models. And I am now saving up for 'Crisis 2010' on 6 November (read all about it: http://www.tsoa.be/ ) but yeah, i am putting my hope it does not break of from time to time. You play Malifaux Deminyn?

small update. Before I could start on Malifaux, I just had to finish my Goliath Flamer dude. After that I used the remaining time I had left to paint up the 1 of the bases for My Bayou gremlins. Stay tuned folks! I am not that sure with the yellow and blue cabling on the flamer dude though...

Lovely base wheres the Flamer dude from? Get used to the lack of replies sadly a few blogs seem to drag all the interest. Good to see the Malifaux guys personally I can't imagine the joint to the base being worse than any other metal/metal bond. I've got some vague palns for Victrix Napoleonics and was wondering how varied are the poses and how easy would be a weapon swap to Lasguns be?

yes this thread lack interest. The flamer dud is from Urban Mammoth miniatures. The poses on those victrix miniatures aren't that varied. They are or shooting, or holding their rifle to their shoulder or kneeling. You can get the most variation with the arms. Adding a lasgun seems off to me. A lasgun would be thrice as thick as a musket. The hands these victrix guys have are twice as small then Imperial guardsmen hands. I wouldn't recommend it. But you could give it a try.

That flamer Goliath is an excellent model. I like the paint job. The blue, yellow tubing and orange canister(?) look far to bright but they can be badassed black or devlan mudded. I think the hazard stripe tank looks good, you've got a nice yellow on there.
As for a blue tube on a flamer I'd say it would be a get out of jail free card, just in case he sets fire to something he shouldn't have. It looks like the fuel tank has a few compartments yellow hose for fuel, blue hose for water.
Gremed hunkered down behind the wall at the end of the abandoned warehouse, checking his flamers fuel gauge he still had a full tank . The new Juve, whose name he hadn't bothered learning, had been following him down the alley was no longer behind him. Gremed thought the little bugger had probably done a runner when the autogun had strafed them.
Listening hard Gremed heard something inside the warehouse, through the grill to his left. Looking through the grill he saw a skinny figure in the gloom sneaking towards the grill, it must be one of them tricksy Eshers the boss warned him about. Moving against the warehouse wall Gremed aiming the fuel nozzle at the area outside the grill, he liked to watch things burn, he waited. The grill was kicked out of the wall and a body moved though. At that moment Gremed squeezed the trigger and smelt the promethium, just before it hit the igniter. The backwash of heat sent a wave of pleasure up his spine but at the same time he heard a boy shout "Gremed No! Arrrrggghhhhh!"
Gremed realized he'd just set the new juve on fire. " " he said to himself. He quickly turned the yellow fuel tap off and opened the blue tap next to it. Squeezing the trigger again a jet of water shot out and doused the juve. The juve was on the floor still conscious and glaring up at him, obviously the burns weren't too bad. Gremed though this could end badly so he decided to change the subject "Come on boy lets get them women, oh and what's your name?"

hahaha nice fluff you wrote up. Yeah it might just be a flamer/Flame extinguisher. I'll try darkening it up with some black wash or devlan mud.

lol they are funny little buggers. Really like the one looking down the barrel of his gun.
The bases look really nice and will fit the look of the models perfectly. Looking forward to seeing your gremlins attached to the bases.

Sorry Scrazza.
You said you were not sure about the blue banding on the hat. What I meant was... does the blue hat band bring something out on the model, as in does it make it go pop? Does it help bring the model and the base together into a cohesive entity?
The acid test was does the painted model and the base fit together colour wise/thematically. As I said I like the bases, including the colour of the water, and I'm looking forward to seeing the model and base together .
Are you going to gloss varnish the water on the base?
While I have no idea what size games board you should use for Malifaux, I'm keen to see a bayou themed gaming table.
