I recently started a Nid army and have about 500 points of models assembled but I am at a complete loss for what my color scheme should be. I am thinking something dark but I would like to stay away from black and/or blue (the color of my Tau army). I would love to see some pics of your armies or links to pages with lots of Nid pics to get some ideas. Recommendations and tips on painting Nids are welcome!

Thanks!

My army is painted in the official but seldom seen Ouroboros painting scheme, see my sig for pics.
But you can always browse www.coolminiornot.com for Tyranid pics.

As a general guideline, contrasting colors on a Tyranid's skin and carapace tend to go well together. So if you want them to have dark skin, go with a bone/white/light grey carapace or vice versa. It really makes them 'pop', especially at a distance.

I've always liked lime green with bone carapace.

Beast of war have a great 3 colours and up painting guide for nids I think it was basically prime white and 2 washes of sepia tone or whatever its called over the whole thing then just paint the carapace in what ever color you like ( anything that covers well and hightlights up easy would be my choice) super quick scheme it makes me wanna collect nids so bad just because i could create a great looking army in under a week including assembly

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all.

This is what I did for my Eldar. Checked out colours online. Picked a few that I like. Also searched the web for various mini's to get ideas (not just eldar, but other armies too. Some lots of space marines out there so its possible to get colour ideas of them too).

I ended up liking 2 colours. A darkish red and a green\blue colour. I bought these plus the colours that I thought where good for shades and highlights.

The fun bit. Paint up some test mini's. This is the bit that really made me realise what I want and what I thought looks good. Also, because im using blues and reds my army stands out and is fun to paint. Not a fan of really dark colours on minis. They tend to look boring to me.

Currently collecting and painting Eldar from W40k.

I can try gettin apic of my carnifex up in the enar future but i myself jsut started nids aswell and this is waht im doing.
flesh: rotting flesh with ogryn flesh wash
assorted veins n such: khemri brown with a unknown brand red ink wash
chitten armoure/ carapace:hawk turquoise with a 50/50 mix of asrmen blue and hawk turquoise for a wash
Weaponry like boneswords/ claws/ teeth/ insert tyranid cc weapon here:charadon granite with an asurmen blue wash
And like i said il try getting a few pics of the carnie up when it is done (its a varient that i like to call a scuttler basher, which hopefully is not a standered version)
