I recently was inspired by an opponent at a local tourney who had some interesting takes on a Mycetic Spore.

I have a good friend who also plays the 'nids and throught I would give it a go.

Let me know what you guys think, and how best to "seal" this sucker.

*** Notes on Construction***

1. It is made of Air dry clay. (I know not the best material, but it is what was on hand when the muse struck.)

2. I was thinking about using PVA or Elmers glue to seal it. Possibly something else? Suggestions?

3. The "Niddy" parts are spine fists and synapse "brains." The rest (as you can tell) is parts left over from a old Carnifex I has bits for.

Let me know how I should go about sealing it, for both added strength and durability, but to preserve some of the details...

the craters are super cool, also love the nid thats crawling to its birth^^ to maim and molest^^

the waepon bits of the termagants i think are not so good in my opinion... would do tendrils or claws instead...

also i would spread the base out more to give it this impact look i´m sure you wanted to create...

although i critizise i tuly like it... more of it^^

I am not sure what color I am going to paint it... I guess a brownish color with some "greeny" glowing stuff.

I need to seal it first, the clay will "melt" if not sealed before you paint it.

Anyone have any experience with PVA glue or Elmers Glue as a sealer? Or any other kind of sealer you have used for clay?

Ok, so it should be as dry as it is gonna get. 4 days and I am ready to seal it. Still hoping someon can give me some advice, otherwise I am gonna go ahead and use the 2 part glue, 1 part water mix.

well done, i personally don't like it. reminds me too much of a asteroid and when i thing mycetic sporre i think of biomass stuff rather than a rock. hell if you like the rocky look, more power to ya, you did a great job. if you want to check out a nice simple biomass spore look up auxillion's (not sure if its spelt correctly) tutorial

No I agree, I dont want a rocky look, the "craters" (I know the detail isn't great in the pics) but they have holes I poed in them, and am gonna insert grains of rice so they look like lil' maggots coming out of the "bursting boils", and I am gonna use hot glue to make "Veins" once I get it sealed.

Thanks for the feed back. Hopefully is anyone wants one once they see the finished product I will have perfected the process.

So I went with the 1 Part water 2 parts Elmer's Glue w/ about 1 tsp of Baking Power to thicken the mix, and it actually turned out great, the clay asorbed the mixture and after it dried for about a day, the outside had a "plastic" feel and was much more rigid.

So I made a few more spores, and painted one as an experiment.... let me kn ow what you think.
