This is my BA army that ive been working on since April of this year. I am really proud of how its coming along.

Let me start by saying it is obviously a work in progress. My goal was to get the characters all painted in their basic colors and ready for the tabletop.

There is no painted detail to anyone with the exception of the commander, priests, and some of the honor guard. I just wanted to make sure I could get them fielded before I started wearing myself out with minute details. I also left the SM without bolters, so I could access the aquillas and detail them later. Everyone knows they are equipped with bolters, but for now mine have airguns

Comments and criticism is welcomed. Votes are also appreciated. Sometime, I will come back and finish the details, but I have an eldar army im wanting to get to by the end of the year. Anyway, the red is 4 different colors blended up with some mild edging. I also did some highlighting on parts that would reflect the most light.

Id like to point out that NO orange tint was used to highlight my marines...I dont really dig the orange highlighting

The only thing the bases need are some detail work to the grass. I wanted to theme them as if they were walking through a abandoned air base. So you will see caution marks on the ground, various numbers and letters as if they are walking outside an airbay. The bases are definately what im most proud of. The colors and contrasting grass work great with the red power armor. Another character I love is the commander, im happy with the result of his tattered banner and purity seals (i will get a good shot of these some other time).

Lots of pics, enjoy! sorry if the pics arent great, im using the only camera i have

The flash of my camera kinda drowns out the highlights...but they are there :)

My converted flamers using bits from Ig and some wire. These dudes will eventually be holding auspex in their left hands

The flash took away the detail again. This model has a hard edging of blood red. It was done very straight and clean, but its another detail thats hard to see. Eventually, like all vehicles, I will add battle damage and weathering

Looking really good! You have a nice clean paint job. I really like the faces. How did you highlight the black on the jetpacks? I always have problems making my highlights on black look good. Keep up the good work, can't wait to see more.

I like the bases. Nice work even though they are not all finished yet. When they are finished you will have a very impressive army.

Guilliman and the Ultramarines are like Manchester United, everyone hates them because they are so awesome!

- black primer
- 2:1 chaos black/codex grey -- painted and highlighted areas of the armor that would reflect light also painted medium borders around edges
- 2:1 shadow grey/chaos black -- highlighted edges
- 2:1 codex grey/shadow grey -- final highlight applied very lightly to edges

Thanks for the compliments

It was the longest debate for me to paint the dev helmets purple. I never have liked the idea of painting the helms a different color. To me the assault guys look horrible with yellow helmets and I am refusing to paint them that color. I never thought the blue contrasted well with the red either....so I tried out the purple and I really liked it. I always imagine it being a very intimidating image on a battlefield to see this heavy weapons team way off in the distance adorned with these dark sinister helmets....I am really happy with them... will post the full squad when complete (hopefully later this week!)
