I really don't like the wings, but dang that is a mind blowing model. If I had a Dark Elf army and some balrog wings at hand, that would be mine in an instant.

Wings look kinda funny to me too. Pretty sick model though! Looks like something from final fantasy (in a good way )

Btw you should mention its going to be around 40 euros. Not bad imo. Around what you'll pay for GW giant monsters

I can't believe they could price that at 40 euros!! Syl-Iriah is almost as much for just a small model (or more for the legendary version). And that's with a dark elf rider... insane!

I don't even play the army, but that'd be the model that would tempt me the most from them out of any they've made so far! Awesome

That's a nice price depending on the actual size of the Manticore.

Like everyone else, I'm not a fan of the wings. The bony protrusions are fine, but the flaps themselves are too muscled and too bulky; I'd prefer them to be similar to bat-wings. Add veins if detailing is required.

Raging Heroes is known for providing kits with alternate parts. Would there be a possibility of a Manticore with 'folded' wings? The pose and face are epic as-is; folded wings would be a nice touch methinks.

A final (minor) complaint (a personal one), is that the back right leg looks unnaturally placed. Perhaps that is simply the angles of the pictures.

The base you see his scenic perch sitting on is a 30mm square. Judging by how it hangs off of that 30mm square it will fit perfectly onto a regulation 40mm with a little room for basing. You can also use that measurement to estimate the other dimensions of the figure.

Fair enough. I wasn't sure whether that was a 30mm square or a 40mm square.

Pretty cool to see our Manticore land on Dakka so quickly after putting up on our blog. Thanks for the comments and please keep'em coming. We're watching this thread closely.
it's very late here in France, so we'll take some time to answer questions tomorrow.
Just a quick one though, regarding the size of the model: it is currently planned to be printed with the square base measuring 3,3cm.

30mm by 30mm sounds good. Can easily fit on the larger bases without tipping over. So it comes with the leader guy with all of his options sans wings? sounds cool

Loving this mini. Yes, it's not perfect (wings) but it is the best that is currently out there. Will look good with a Chaos Lord mounted

There's certain models that make you start an army....and that would be one. Who all gets Manticores...DE...Chaos...?

Very, very tempting. I kind of don't want it to be produced, because then I'll just HAVE to buy one. I don't know what I'd use it for, but DAMN!

Dark Elves come to most people's minds most immediately, but Warriors of Chaos Lords can get them as direct mounts as well. Of course, I could see people fielding this as their dragon mount since it looks so incredible and just using dragon rules for it.

Well, their recently released Syl-Iriah looks every bit as amazing as the renders, so I have high hopes for this one when enough of us click that above link and demand they make this thing a reality.

I think it looks amazing and personally really like the wings, i think the render (and hopefully model if/when they make it) as a whole really displays the manticores purportedly feral nature and savage insanity.

Raging Heroes makes their models out of white metal and resin. If I had to guess, I'd say the majority if not all of this one would be white metal.

If you take a peek through their website you'll notice that's how they do their sculpting: create a bunch of 3d renders of the product and once it is finalized create a print of it. This print is then used to create a master mold which is then refined by sculpting guru MIKH to ensure there is practically no difference between the renders and the final product. A couple great examples of render-to-product are the Kahn Urkan Preview (note that this is a physical preview of the guy that will be riding the Manticore, not necessarily the exact model) and the currently available Syl-Iriah.

Yes it's a digital preview, but according to their news post it seems they'd like us to go ahead and pre-judge this render specifically to see if there's enough demand for it and what people would like changed. Waiting until it is released kind of defeats the purpose.

Love the whole thing. If I had to state an imperfection, I would improve the head a little. Also, the flaps\spikes popping off the side of the forearm is a little too bland. Make it more part of the arm rather then just popping out the side. It would look much better. But seriously, its pretty darn good.

Wings, I think are great. A lot more detail and something different for a change. You could paint them in various ways to get various effects.

Ill wait for the actual mini to be shown first though.

Holy cow, that thing is amazing. I actually kinda like the styling on the wings but they seem too big/long. I would buy one just to have it in the display case - if the wifey would let me lol.

If she raises a fuss, just show her pictures of the GW Manticore and she will agree that the best way to rid people's memories of that thing is with a beautiful new model to take its place.
