hi midkey,
is that white for soft armor? do you then prime white?
well the first one is decidly better as i cant picture myself liking orange marines, but thats just my taste... and for the first scheme i´m not that into halfed or better quartered schemes. but it looks wya more serious. i think it is the gold trimming...

will be fun seeing them in the flesh, chhers mate, vik

Hellfire - I think these will look a lot better on the table than you might think, in spite of it being simple - Emperor's Fists and Salamanders, for example, look terrible on paper but look great in photos.

Emperor's Blood - I love this name and this scheme. Just be sure not to overdo the gold trim when you paint them. The black-on-red quartered scheme is fantastic.

Do you have any ideas for chapter insignia for either?

You missed the upper right hand on the first one BTW. I think Marines can be cool in orange... http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Pyre

That is Chaos, but still you get the point. I like how to first one looks, but for your sanity, I'd go for orange.

Orange and Hellfire. Orange is an amazing color to see on the table top when it is done well and if you prime White then paint the orange it is even better.

I like them both! I once had orange-black quartered space marine army.

Both would look good as a whole army. The top one is rather original though and if you're willing to put the time in to do it, I say go for it.

My Eldar army is a darker red and I like it a lot. I wouldnt go pure black though. Go the dark grey, would look better and easier to shade\highlight.

Currently collecting and painting Eldar from W40k.
