Hi everyone im just starting a black templar army of which will eventually be 10,000 pts plus when im finished with it. Heres a sample of what there sort of ganna look like and how the dreadnoughts are going to be themed.

Any pointers or remarks on these pics i would appreciate.

Looks fantastic. Best of luck also with that 10k pts dream. I have been painting a BA army since april with the aspiration of it being 6K -- right now ive collected about 3k and painted around 2 k of it, im already winded!

I think the dreadnought upper thighs are waaay to lanky. Put some armour on there man!

That said, great minis, I approve!

This looks like a great start. I'm not a huge fan of the spindly dreadnought legs (although I love the rest of it). Everything else looks superb. The paintjob is nice and crisp, and includes plenty of appropriate blood and filth (a must for fanatical space knights).

Good job and good luck on the rest of your work as well.

Looks amazing. Only 2 criticisms I have are of the skeleton on the (assumed) chaplains chest looks a wee corny, and as previously mentioned upper thigh's of the dread are a bit scrawny. Everything else is phenomenal! I love the hood!

I am in love with each and every model you have posted.

I would also love some WIP pics, maybe a tutorial on how you got that beautiful red cloth.

The Marshal is a Scibor mini.

I've been planning on getting that same model for my own Black Templar army.

@ OP: the scibor models are they bulky enough to be terminators or are they just some guy wearing fancy power armour?

Thanks all for your comments, Some i will definitly look into like the dreads legs. My intentions were to make my venerables all taller to give them a more dominant look as i have 12 dreads for the army all up. As for the red there is quite a few stages o get that effec but its nothing we havent seen in any white dwarf b4, its black undercoat mechrite red then black wash then mechrite red again but not as much then blood red then the different oranges in highly riased areas, sounds like alote but doesnt take long once you do it a couple of times and always comes out a treat.

As for how long so far youd be quite surprised the marshalls each took two days after work and the assualt squad took three days for the five of em. The longest so far was the dread in building him and painting was 8 days two of them being a weekend.

To be honest with your comments on my WIP pics and that level of painting i should be finished by the end of next year considering ive got about 5k worth of models un painted still in boxes waiting to be converted and born to do the emperors will.

Will post more next month. including a fix on the dread.

P.S what do you think of this dread..im thinkin of scapping it.

Now the dread faces the same leg problem. Its also looks overcrowded with all the weapons. Take off the landspeeder missle launchers and it will look a lot better

I like the fact that the draed has a lot of weapons

I do not however really like the long legs as they look to thin and flimsy. If you armoured them a bit, then they would probably look better.

Everything look spectacular, but I do have to agree with the majority of the replies already posted: The Dreadnought's chicken legs are detracting from the overall genius of the model. Armour the legs up to flesh them out and you should have yourself one hella nasty Dreadnought! Best of luck with your 10K dream!

Wow. Marshall 1 is ten types of badass. Seriously. The rest are good, too, but that guy really stands out.

I agree with the others on the dreads, though. The spindly legs look... well, spindly. If you want them tall, go for it, but you'll need a beefier leg extension if you don't want them to look like they're on dinky stilts. Perhaps you could look into cannibalizing segments of IG Sentinal legs to run from the hip joint to the shin? One straight section would give them a bit of added height without having to adopt a chicken-walker stance or scrap the iconic dread shins/feet.

thanks again for your replies guys ive already found a salution to my dread dinky leg problem so ile have them fixed up and ile repost the new pics in the upcoming weeks.

just an update on work ive done this week on my templar, heres a taste of some assualt crusaders and an apothecary and bearer that ile start tomoz....hope you like em.

I am just going to pick my jaw back up.

i cant exaclty remember were i got the helmet from i think its from the SM command squad box and ive just cut little lines in the mouth area.

Heres a pictuire of what my crusader initiates are gonna look like....i dont know about the silver rim around the shoulders yet but im trying to differ normal initiates with crusader initiates.

Basically my crusader iinitiates are all going to be cloaked, have crusader seals and the majority of them will hold power swords and have either helmets off or forgeworld MK IV knight helmets. The normal iniates are gonna be more basic in armour but still cool.

Another update guys, the banner bearer finally finished today rest of the squad to come.....ile give it about another week to finish the rest of em.

Also just finished converting my emperors champion, i think it looks pritty cool but itll look a ton better when painted.

That marshall is so cool. Loving it.
