Found a Heavy Tank which was a bit cheaper than usual FW crack so I gave it a try.
Its bigger than a Russ so maybe a welcome addition to the collection of Chimera/Russ based tanks and Baneblade based tanks, the Heavy Tank to fill the gap between the two groups. Sadly a resin kit.

Could this act as a Macharius stand in?

The chassis itself is easy to build but the tracks will test the will of the modeler to complete this model. ( IMHO ).
Got a assortment of Guns, 2 sets for sponsons , 2 sets for the secondary 'turret', and 4 different main weapons.
Would call the sponsons weapons: HB / HF, the mini turret ones: HB / H stubber / auto cannon,
the major weapons maybe : TL auto, Plasma cannon, Demolisher?, battle cannon, Las cannon, TL extra super heavy stubber?

The parts and the chassis:

Lots of clean up work to do with this kit. But fingers are safe

Isn't it closer to a Macharius than a Russ in style?
Would appreciate ideas how to arm this Tank. Since it will be a modelling challenge and not so much a neccessary part of an army, I think
I can risk to do a interesting armament instead of a clever point-effictive build.

It started as a user's project here:
http://www.gw-fanworld.net/showthread.php?t=120118

Became available through:
http://www.heavy-support.com/

I've seen it in a review there ( non-english sorry ): http://www.brueckenkopf-online.com/?p=3679
Bought it online: http://www.radaddel.de/sonderangebote/mortian-heavy-battletank.html at 54,50€

I don't know if this kit ever had a news/product review - thread anywhere else.

It looks good, but I don't know if it could be $75 plus shipping good.

Also your comparison pic with the Leman Russ is really tiny.

I magnetized all the weapons on mine so i can swap them out as i please. It really is only a little larger than a russ. I think a twin vanquisher turret would look good though.

Ok, no more attempts to combine pics with software.

Thougth of it. Spare Stormlord VMB may come handy..

Spent several hours at the tracks since they are single pieces to clean and glue together.

Finally ready to go on.
The main guns could act as snap fit, so magnets are nice for secondary guns I suppose.
The problem is, if I can get around a decision how to arm it, additional weapon-options like the VMB or the TL Vanquisher become tempting to do...

Actual progress and better comparision Pics :
( used a officer, a Leman Russ and a Baneblade variant )

A few Days later.....

Imperialized the tank a bit and created a set of weapons:

- TL Autocannon, PlasmaCannon, Demolisher-type cannon, = out of the box
- Vanqhisher with coaxial Autocannon, Maybe intended maybe not = just combined parts of the kit
- Hellhammer/nova cannon. = borrowed from Baneblade kit.
- Vulcan Mega Bolter = borrowed from Stormlord kit.

I think its time for magnets

Used 2 LR sponson Heavy bolters as the sponsons were incomplete..
Have to add the front weapon, should stick with a TL heavy stubber Y/N?

Some pics ( unpainted except the basic colors for tracks ):

Nice work witht he imperialization.

For the Megabolter mount, you might want to build up the cowling around the bolters as it loos a little off.

Like the plasma gun. :-)
