Saw your army there, I like the use of metallics on the carapace it was very unique. I struggled in the first mission as well for similar reasons to your opponent. It really favored assault oriented armies with deep strikers.

Nice Batrep. Pics are good, and both armies are nicely painted. I do have one complaint though. In my mind "Daboyz" seems to imply Orks. So, it's a little misleading. Good work on the batrep though.

Or is Daboyz the name of the tournament? Did I misread that?

Thanks for the comments all. Round 2 will be done tonight.

DaBoyz is the name of the hobby club who hosts this GT in Rochester NY. There were 91 players in the 40k event I believe.

Bittersweet or not, that was a completely 1 sided whooping. Good job

Meant to ask after the first report, how do you like those double Dakkafexes?

Man the dakkafex's were raking in the points. Game #1 was the only of 5 where I lost a fex. You'll see all the stuff in the following reports they kill.

Game #1 - 9 sternguard, 4 terminators
Game #2 - 4 fiends, 2 blood crushers (6 wounds), 4 bloodletters, many daemonettes
Game #3 - somewhere around 15 grey hunters/wolf guard, 1 drop pod
Game #4 - 6 assault marines, 3 terminators, 5 scouts
Game #5 - 25ish veterans, 5 penal legion

Props on the luck with the stupidly perfect line of JOTWW heh. Though I'm confused how 2's saved your carni's and your tervigon since they all have 1 initiative..

Either way, nice little battle there

"As a psychic shooting attack, the Rune Priest may trace a straight line along the board, starting from the Rune Priest and ending 24" away. This line may pass through terrain. Monstrous creatures, beasts, cavalry, bikes and infantry models that are touched by this line must take an Initiative test (see Characteristic Tests in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook). If the model fails the test, it is removed from play. Monstrous creatures may subtract one from their dice roll due to their tremendous size and strength, though remember that the roll of a 6 is always a failure."

Since MC's can subtract 1, 2=1=surviving tervigon and fex's.

- The pictures are excellent
- Your army looks great
- You played very well, especially against the Daemon Army
- Go Tyranids
- More reports please

On the Wolves: I've never really liked Drop lists. They are too easy to defend against with bubble wrap, and are a one turn shot. If you face an enemy assault army, you'll drop down, wreck a couple vehicles, kill a squad or two, and then you've just placed your shooty units out in the open 8 inches from the enemies assault troops. I've tried them before, but they've just never worked for me.

Great reports, you army looks very nice

Some great sportsmanship in game 2, I often get the same feeling when something hideously expensive scatters off in the first turn, but I don't think I would have been as nice as you in a tournament setting.

You got lucky with that Jaws attack in game 3, but it seems like you played very well too.

Looking forward to the rest of the reports

Really well played at your first GT man, you thoroughly deserved the results you got due to how you played and handled the games. Seriously, well done man.
Also, I love your army, it's nice to see someone realising the potential of Carnifex's and not using the same ol' units over and over again. Similarly, it's very well painted.
A pleasure to read, congratulations.

Also, what's this about blackmore?

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Unfortunately, my focus and performance lapsed on day 2. More batreps coming.

While I was watching John and Paul from the ETC practice Friday night, they were talking to a guy named Allan so I asked if he was "Blackmoor" and it was! I asked him for a practice game and he whipped out the footdar.

We played "Mission Impossible" (same as batrep #3) to a bloody draw. I didn't take pictures or notes so no serious batrep. He had something like 40 str6 shots between war walkers, warp spiders, and various cannons. I took 1st turn and removed his avatar with my dakkafex's. Following turns we traded units as my trygons got stuck in and his harlies danced around. We drew on primary and secondary objectives and probably tertiary. We didn't tally up as he had to pick up the BoLS guys at the airport, but he had some harlies, guardians, farseer, wounded wraith lord, and war walkers left. I had only a tervigon and lots of gants so I guess he would have won hehe. Twas another good game and it was cool to meet him.

Nice batreps and a nicely painted army. It's also nice to see nids do well even if it seems the only way for them to do so is to hive guard and tervigons.

I'm curious, was there any impact on your paint scoring from the primer gaunts? I seem to remember some tournament from the northwest where one guy hid a partially painted model during the paint judging get docked for using that model in games.

I don't believe so. My entire 1850 was painted the primed gants were for spawning and I ran out of time. I received 35pts for presentations which was slightly above average.

If I knew that those Carnifexs had that kind of firepower I would have started my Avatar in the rear of my army. To see him taken down so easily made me sad.

Tryanids are normally a good match-up for me, but Aaron was a good player and made the most out of what he had.

What was the multi-assault you were trying in game 4?

Also, this round was brutal for me as well. I played SoB here and I had a Rhino Explode! and kill 7 SoB after failing on 7 ones...must have been something in the air.

Not sure if this would have mattered, I have always found with more mobile opponents I like to saturate the board and create a 'net'. Even if that means sacrificing a front line unit, it helps reduce their mobility advantage.

When my ymgarls arrived at table center, I wanted to string an assault between the scouts and vindicator which were about 9" apart. I'm still not 100% on multi-assault dynamics, but my opponent and the judge both said I couldn't just leave undengaged models to keep coherency.

My luck actually levelled out after turn 1 and my dice were much worse in round #5.

You make a good point about mobility as Tyranids are probably the least mobile army with necrons. This was an example of where my inexperience hurt me the most, not being able to predict his actions.

One of my biggest weaknesses is not being able to visualize several turns ahead. This was compounded by my current list being opportunistic. I played this game with the assumption that with less starting KP than me, and two rock units of terminators, he would be coming straight for me. When he decided to take his 2kp and run, I was in terrible position. It was really well played on his part.
