Hi everyone!

To prevent hogging of future poetry competitions previous winners will not be allowed to enter the next competition. This is to allow equity and excellence to prosper.

I am running a poetry competition with the deadline: 28th of November at 8pm UK time.
I am doing this because I would like to encourage creativity and expression of this forgotten art.
I intend to make this at least a monthly thing and it is my intention to promote DakkaDakka.com in the process.

Rules:

The Topic of this poem must be about the Ork Clan Death Skulls. I recommend reading some background info on them for inspration.
Submissions should have at least 3 paragraphs. Each Paragraph should have about 4 sentences.
You may submit more than one poem but only one will be chosen. Please dont spam me poems in personal message write the poems in this discussion thread.

Guidelines:
This poem needs to be about the Death Skulls.
It may help to look at the Death Skulls featured here: http://eye0fhorus.deviantart.com/
or here on Dakka Dakka http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/328385.page.

One should therefore look to incorporate the background/fluff/imagination of the Death Skulls into the poems.
I recommend using your Codex or anything you can find about them to make a poem.
Wikipedia and the new Forgeworld Book on Orks would be helpful too.
Longer Poems are encouraged, as well rhymes and Orky language.

Finally you may write the poem in any context, for example, a story, first person, after a battle, stitching another ork up to get his loot or a robbert.

Prize
Although I would love to have runners up there will be only be one winner.
They may choose from one item on the following list : GW Warhammer 40k Ork boyz/Lootas/Stormboys/Nobs/Grots/War Biker Mob/Up to 3 Mega Nobz/Any 40k Ork HQ choice on the GW website and not forgetting Badrukk.

This is not exchangeable for cash and I will not send the item unpainted.

I will then build and paint the model/s according to winners choice with some follow ups on my blog and the painting and modelling section of the Dakka Dakka website.

Therefore these competitions will not only serve the community in terms of inspiring creativity but painting and modelling tutorials will follow the prize.

A Dire Avenger faces the Death Skulls: A Sonnet

The morning shrieked awake, and from the crest
above, with reeking blood, and sheaves of light
a flood of blue: with no crime to redress,
we brokered no retreat, but still the sight,
the sea, the crashing, roaring mist across
from us, Iyanden, noblemen of Khaine
would soon be overwhelmed, and quickly lost,
to sigh into the craftworld once again.

So like the sea, they hit us, ironwrought
and grimy, fearless, prefaced by the sting
of wicked shrapnel, fired afar and sloughed
my leg apart, and soon approached a thing:

muscled, ignorant of death's command,
and seized the splinter rifle from my hand.

Dis is da tale of da Mega-loota
who could swipe teef from a free-boota.
he could nick a meks tekk
then ride it till it was a wreck

he could capture a titan
and in a flash it would be a fightin
but it wouldent be proppa
till it was blue from bottom to toppa

but the tribe soon got sick
and he got out quick
and he sneaks through the stars
his destination: Mars

what do you think? now i want to have the mega-loota in my ork army. maybe a mek... anyways.

I like the poem Maxpower. I think a little different words can be used instead of and though.

Ork Logic

Two Orks stuck in a maze,

Finishing a Battlewagon - A Mek's Story in Poetry

"It goes white then blue" I says,
'e says "blue then white",
"I'll smash youz in the 'ed" I says,
shut 'im up too right.

"Boyz' are less than Meks I" says,
Dey dunno 'ow it wurks,
"I iz da cleverest", I says,
"So 'urry up, don't shirk!"

"Alright, alright", I says,
When da boss complains,
"It'll be done when it's done", I says,
Dat shoutin' 'urt my brains.

"Alright we'z finished", I says,
As dey 'ammer in da glyphs,
"Now zogg off you lot", I says,
"ey what da hell is this?"

The Nobs count as troops
Big Choppas and Power Klaws
Bikes are too weedy

Da Boyz always charge
Power Klaw Nob is a must
12 boyz go in Trukks

SnikRot is crafty
He comes in on your board edge
Manticores cant hide

Grots are always cheap
Always take a runt herder
Home objective held

Killa Kans are fun
looted Dreadnoughts for Deff Dreds
strength 10 in your face

Pain Boyz always help
Feel no Pain is so common
It is now broken

Battlewagon ride
Def Rolla always attached
Land Raider goes BOOM

Hi guys. I have been ill, so I will read everything again tommorow, decide on a winner, then hopefully if they are on-line find out what they want, and go and get what they choose. =]

We da lootas an freebootaz knicking stuff from shivs to shootaz
eyeing up da umies tanks, so we can kitbash dem urm... thanks
kannon, pulsas, burnas, cutters. We da tinka Gork Mek nuttaz
all da time we finding fings, and makes da stuff dat bruvvers bring

Uvver orks dey fink where barmy, why not WAAAGH along wiv army
jus get yer ed tested yer Brainz, but Mad Doc Grimsnik sez wer sane
dey dont want the fings we uze, instead dey all grogged up wiv booze
an even Warboss, he can't see, but grabs our goodies when ready!

So into Dakka we do ride, our paro nature makes us hide,
behind the blue stuff on our hedz, painted on wiv grotling legs
Ere we go the the end is near, Warboss has his BIG GUN Cheer
whilst umies run an cower in fear. Looted Rhino,... Death Skulls ere!

Very nice Neil, I love the way the words bounce and fit together, almost naturally - and also use orky expressions and fit into the game.

It's really going to be close, loads of talent, potential & creativity.
