Decided to build an airship to board my spacemarines on and play it as a thunderhawk in Apocalypse games.
It uses a goblin crew, enslaved by the space marines to run the ship. They are small, eat little and require very little maintainace to run.
Progress will be slow, but will keep this place updated

Drawn up a few concepts here

Also painted up this guy, to be the goblin crew.

well i cross fingers for your built, goblin crew for a SM Airship...hmmm personaly i would go for something in the lnes of squats or ratlings here but we do live in postmodern times and as me ol`teach tol`me anything goes...

what materials will you use? will you use leftover materials as i used or will you open the big box and get everything new and biult it totally from scratch?

by the way claus not santa has the airshipblog also on dakka nowadays...

good luck, vik

Hey Aqua,
I obviously like your idea
The more traditional design (1) definately is more towards the airship, but the second, kinda carrier design would suit the SM theme better (IMHO).
Depending on how big you want to make your Zeppelin you could either try to use one or more soda cans for the blimp base, or you try it like I did with a sceleton on plasticard ribs, that you can then cover with whatever material you want it to be - either plasticard or cloth...
Here's how I did it:
Start - http://fischers-design-shop.blogspot.com/2009/05/new-project-code-name-athena.html
Ribs - http://fischers-design-shop.blogspot.com/2009/05/athena-steampunk-airship-2.html
and http://fischers-design-shop.blogspot.com/2009/05/athena-steampunk-airship-4.html
good luck!
Cheers
klaus

have you seen the early tries i did? i used yoghurt buckets, the biger kinds... maybe you go the full monty and use actual buckets? but you had to use about four i guess to get the size...but bigger is always better, right^^?

or you coud go the 3d version way of rendering objects. you build a skeletton and then just put cardboard around the skelleton. i should have done that wouldn´t have cost me so much grey hairs doing it the other way round....
