The Grot known as Gribbla has been known amongst the Ork culture to be one of the luckiest beings alive. He has survived dozens, possibly even hundreds of events where he should have died many times over. Even when he was mere days old, he had avoided death at the hands of his Ork masters many times. During the Third War for Armageddon, his master, a hulking beast known as Mangler, was killed during an assault against an enemy Reaver Titan. Gribbla only survived due to Mangler's severed arm blocking Gribbla's heat signatures from the Titans' sensorati. Now he acts as a beacon of hope towards fellow Gretchen, in that they can past off their brutish Ork masters and live a free life as Gribbla. However, for other Warlords, Gribbla is seen with disgust, as they feel conned that a lowly Grot has received Gork and Mork's blessing.

Gribbla is bought as an HQ choice.

Gribbla: 30 Points

WS2 BS4 S2 T2 W1 I3 A2 Ld7 Sv-/2++

Weapons and Wargear
Mangler's Blasta

Mangler's Blaster: Gribbla scavenged this weapon from Mangler's mostly powdery remains after he was vapourised. It has the following profile:

Range: 12" S4 Ap- Pistol

Special Rules
Lucky Shot: Gribbla has many a time had to make a violent (and mildly heroic) escape from angry Boyz, and had developed a steadier aim due to this. His BS is increased to 4, and his ranged attacks have the Rending rule, as a lucky stray round often finds it's mark in even the toughest of enemies.

Da Lucky Guy: Gribbla has survived certain death hundreds of times, causing him to develop what some believe is a sixth sense towards danger. Because of this, he has a 2+ Invulnerable Save.

Da Fraudster: Gribbla is often seen with contempt amoungst other Orks, who will sometimes divert their fire in hopes of proving Gribbla's luck to be phoney. Any Ork unit within 6" of Gribbla that wishes to fire must take a Leadership test (affected by usual by Bosspoles, etc). If passed, they fire as normal, however, if they fail, they must immediatly fire all avaliable weapons towards Gribbla or the unit he is attached to. Even Fearless units are affected by this ability, as they never give up a chance to roast a few Grotz!

Leader of Da Freee Grotz: Gribbla may take a retinue of up to 29 Grots. These Grots, as well as anyother Grot units in the army do not need to take Runtherds.

So what do you guys think?

Haahahaahaha. I'm gonna make this model and add it to my ork army.

Anywhere worth being

45 points for a Grot who is likely to be the last model standing in his unit and run off the board?

Seems overpriced.

I agree. There has to be more going for this Grot if he's going to be 45 points. Make him ignore armor saves? 4+ to wound? 3 Wounds?

Hmm, well what if I price him at about 20 points rather than giving him more abilities?

I think dropping his points is more reasonable. Even luck can only go so far...

i love it.

you should make him an HQ choice that can take a Retinue of Gretchin.

his unit of Gretchin does not take Runtherds(Gribbla keeps them in line)

if you make him HQ then you can have an army that is 100% grot

Make him allow no runthers whatsoever to be taken in any units of gretchin. Also allow him 1-3 bodyguard squads with bs4 and rending.

BS4 maybe, but rending? No.

you realize that many shots would simply destroy game balance. MEQs would vanish, even AV12 wouldn't be safe.

I agree with the reduced points cost, rending fits perfectly with the whole lucky thing and BS4 for a grot HQ. In my personal opinion this awsome grot character is done, i've even been looking at creating a grot army based around this guy, but like most "want to" plans, it probably won't happen for several years. I like the fact that he isn't an IC, as being a grot, he has strength in numbers and probably isn't brave enough to stand out of his own accord, and only his extraordinary luck tend to leave him the last man standing
