Hi all. New to the site and to Warhammer Fantasy. I have been working on a WOC 2000 point list and wanted to sse if I was on the right track in terms of being somewhat competitive. I not out to win national tournies but, be competitive in my local store.

Here goes

Exalted Hero MOT, Biting blade, armor of Morrslieb
Chaos Steed 181

Chaos Chariot MOS 130

10 Chaos Knights Standard, Musician 430

56 Chaos Marauders MOT hand weapon,
light armour,shield Musician, Standard 368

5 Marauder Horsemen Musician Standard 83

24 Chaos Warriores MOK musician, standard
Extra hand weapon 432

Wulfrik the wanderer 185

Sorcerer MOT ,lvl 2 upgrade, Spell Familiar
Chaos Steed 186

1995

My plan is for Hero to go with knights, Sorcerer w/ warriors, and obviously Wulfrik with Marauders
use the horse men to harrass and bring the 56 block in with wulfriks ability to be the anvil with warriors and Knights as hammers. I am looking for surviability with the marauders. Please let me know what you think.

10 chaos knights is probably overkill. I would drop them down to one rank and give them something like mark of khorne or something. Then make the Exalted into a BSB. Dont really see why a chariot would have MoS. Other marks look like they would do better. I think chaos Marauders would be better off with GW instead although I also think 56 is quite a large number of them. Split them into 2 groups or something. Horsemen need flails and MoK, otherwise mind as well get more foot marauders or warhounds. Instead of extra hand weapons, maybe give the chaos warriors halberds (and maybe shields). At 2k A lvl 4 would fare much better than a lvl 2. Probably can do that with saved points from knights

Im with kenshin620, 10 knights is a little much for one unit maybe break it into 2 units of 5, maybe cut back on some of the marauders, make the lvl 2 sorcerer a lvl 4, and definatly give the marauder horsemen flails

I agree with Kenshin, you should break up your units a bit, as right now they are very large (too large). Marauders should probably have GW. I think you could probably drop the chariot all together, if you split up the knights. Upgrade the sorceror to a level 4, make exalted BSB etc.
Honestly, pretty much everything Kenshin said was spot on, my only addition being that the chariot doesn't seem to add much to an already very mobile and killy army. Would be a nice place to get some points to buff other units.

Thanks for the advice. My goal for the Sorcerer is just to have some magic available I would rather not have a magic heavy list. I get your point on flails for the horsemen. Are great weapon and shield better then the extra atk the warriors get with the extra hand weapon with MOK? I made the marauders really big to be kinda the focus, I wanted to be able to take a beating while I move the knights, chariot, and warriors into position. I am not discounting your critiques just looking for what your reasons are. I looked at a few lists and it seems often times people focus on the high profile units that are super expensive and then dont have enough models on the board to get into position to win. I have read that big blocks win games. Just curious as to your reasons for the suggestions. I have the whole army unpainted and unassembled I want to try to avoid the mistake I made in 40k of assembling and painting a bunch of units and learning later on they are more effective with different gear.

Big Blocks definitely do win games, but big blocks means different things to different armies. Marauders can function well in smaller groups of 30-40, which are still large, but allow you to have more then one pack to be targeted by tarpit units or warmachines. Same with Knights, you generally don't need more then 5.

Essentially, what you give up in size you gain in tactical flexibility.

I would suggest cutting the chariot to field 2 units of 30 marauders with GW, give the horsemen flails, make the exalted BSB and up the Chaos Sorceror to level 4.

Makes good sense on the 2 units of 30 and splitting the knights. I dropped the chariot and added BSB but the LVL 4 sorcerer puts me over the 25%.

Never mind. I'm an idiot

Not in CC but the shield still helps at shooting. But Light armor and shield rarely helps against things like hand guns and cannons
