getting my dark eldar ready for thier first apocalypse game. so far ive purchased a few FW models, and im now in the process of just converting the rest of the army. i plan on adding each of the special characters, plus a suitable attached unit, along with the core of the army, a few formations and of course a pair of custom fliers and a titan.

ill post pics of the army itself soon enough, but for now, i have pics of the first flier i plan on using. its based on the void dragon phoenix model, but im using a custom ruleset.
(armor 10 all fronts, bs:4, 2SP, has "chasing shadows, and impossible maunevers", weapons: a TL darklance, a 36" range pulsar, and a set of rockets (str 7 ap:3
assault 4) options for str 8 blast missles at 20pts a pop, and night fields for +20. base cost is 500)

in any case, im still working on finalizing the rules for the fliers, but ill post pics in the mean time. im also working on rules for a dark eldar variant of the revenant titan - which ill post when im finished.

Received the Titan from FW today. I feels like a kid on Christmas. Lol.

After washing the parts and making sure everything is present an cast correctly (everything is near perfect. Only the pulsars were bent but that's easily corrected. - well done FW)
I am taking pictures of progress as I build and will post when I'm on an actual computer, not my phone. Converting this into a dark eldar Titan will be FUN.

did some work on the titan today. the resocialization process is lengthy. it basically involves trimming off the gemstones and replacing them with chains and blades and skulls and other dark eldar like bits. i did manage to finish the head and torso today, save for some follow up file work. the extra bits are taken from the ravager kit.

i actually had already converted the pulsars to look like dark lances before you guys mentioned it. so im glad its a good idea. anyway. after 6 hours of building last night i realized i had finished and primed, without taking any decent pics. so, heres some shots of what ive done so far. the extra blades are all from the raider kits, and primarilly trimmed up keel blades. the modifications are mainly the blades on the lower legs gems, and adding blades to the side of the knee, ala the warrior. (the whole process is based off trying to make the titan look like a dark eldar warrior, vrs an eldar gaurdian)

Nice! Good work on the Plasticcard parts for the Dark Lances. Cant wait to see this baby painted! I think you should also make a giant warpbeast titan thing.

Really nifty work on the titan but don't Dark Eldar already have a heavy flyer? Why not use the rules for that?

The dark eldar flier options are the raven or void dragon Phoenix. Both of wich kind of suck tbh. Hense the custom
Rules and Titan build. More pics coming later tonite.

This is what happens when i have nothing but time on my hands. did some more work on the titan. ive decided to call it a "rampage" class titan. it has effectivly the same rules as the revenant, but adds coaxial long barrel dark lances to each pulsar, and its missle launcher has more shots. its also about 100 points more. ill post the final datasheet soon.

in the meantime, ive managed to finish painting the torso head and part of the main jetpacks. ill take pics of those later tonite. for now heres some shots of the assembled titan, and the initial paint stages of head and torso. these have since recieved more highlights on the black, and some touchups on the green edges.

That's metal. It's like someone took to much acid at a Metallica concert, and they painted and created a titan out of their lust for something that is that awesome.

Thanks for the replys. Feedback always welcome. @ chowderhead - it's like your in my mind. Freaky. I usually crank metallica or disturbed while I paint/model. @ Billy I'll be fielding roughly 8500 points of dark eldar and close to 3500 of orks to lead the charge, ala lady malys maneuver mentioned in the codex. Orks charge in first to draw fire and make a royal mess of stuff, then my dark eldar show up to finish the party. More pictures of the Titan tomorrow

Fluffwise I'm not sure how appropriate it is, but that revenant titan looks awesome with the dark eldar spikes, etc. The paint scheme adds to the effect too!

8500 points of dark eldar then 3500 of orks. thats a lot of points sounds like its going to be a fun and very long game I wish you good luck

Titans are walkers. So I don't believe they can use or deploy from a wwp. That said, it's fast enough to get where needed, and flank march makes it even more versatile in deployment.

completed some more of the titan painting. head torso, and shoulders are finished, and the legs and leg gaurds are only awaiting final touch ups. ive also begun work on the base, wich will be a 8x11" oval base made of oak. the base in itself will be another huge project. debating on making it a ruin scape or something else. suggestions welcome. anyway, without furthar ramble - Pics!

It's looking good, but you need to thin down your paints a lot. The rune looks nice but very blotchy. The same with the lines of highlighted green. Perhaps lead into the highlighted green with a 50:50 mix of that green and your black. For such an expensive model, such a simple change like watering down paints could improve on it so much.
