So I actually like the Stormraven kit, minus the big honking turret and intake on the top. They make it too tall I think, so I came up with this little conversion to change it up. I was originally going to use Predator side sponsons, but this way I can still use the Hurricane bolters if I want too. I might try for a low profile turret mod on my next one, or put one las cannon on each side of the Assault Ramp. Only downside is that this only works with the lascannons as I believe the plasma and assault cannons would be too wide to fit. And one last thing, do you think anyone would have a problem playing against this as the lascannons are hull mounted now instead of turret mounted? I'm clearly not modelling for advantage and the Codex doesn't say any weapons are turret mounted so I think I'm in the clear, just wanting to get Dakka's opinion.

Much better imo.
I may just have to steal this
I been looking to do something similar but the rhino hatch on top never occurred to me

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Now the set actually looks good. The SR's main flaw seems to be that igor hump on it's back. Where are you gonna put the weapons though?

They're already mounted. The twin linked lascannon is the double mount next to the assault ramp, similar to a Valk/Vendetta weapon setup. The typhoon launcher is in the nose instead of the multimelta.

Well its great but now you have to deal with that when you are landed you will have no turret weapons to use and your laz cannons are fixed and when the Storm raven is landed you can only in a strait line. Mark my words in tourny play people will make sure you are not a single degree off.

I have no idea what army you are using this for but IMO you just nerfed your fire power.

IMO it does not make it look better at all And to top it off you are down atleast 180 degrees of firing arc and

I never disliked the hawk, so I'm not seeing why people hate it so much, but I do see that this is a pretty nice conversion! Makes it look not too dissimilar to a valkyrie with the lascannon nose mount, and the removal of the quite frankly awesome turret (Each to his own) doesn't bother me, as it makes the ship seem more streamlined.

I do think it looks much better this way, though the above is right, but you can always say it's still turret mounted rules-wise

I like it much better- but the sidemount lascannons doesn't work for me. If i get one I will stretch the tail back an inch or so and then try to build a very streamlined mini turret for top mounted weapons. I like the way yours looks a lot better than stock! But i do think it needs a top turret

If the turret thing is going to be a big issue, maybe glue it to the underside of the Raven? Seems to make more sense that way as the Storm Raven is a gunship, so it should be shooting downwards instead of upwards.

I'm not too concerned about how people will react to it in a tournament as I don't play in any. I don't think it'll be a problem in pickup games as the only thing I'm doing is possibly nerfing myself, lol.

And Mecha, I didn't want the big turret on the bottom as it would cause the same design issues I have with it on top. I like the turret itself and will probably use it and future ones for Razorbacks. I just don't like it on the Stormraven, it makes it look too tall. If it was a little further back on the fuselage or lower profile it wouldn't bother me, it just looks too awkward where it's placed.

Nice conversion.

I keep wanting to replace the front ramp with an upside-down razorback turret - has anyone tried that?

Now that does make that brick look better. I'm a big hater for the hump/turret as well, they look silly and this conversion does look more balanced. I'm personally itching as well to buy a git and make it look more air-worthy as well.
I've personally been pondering how hard it would be to cut the wings off the engine pods and move them forward to that that thing actually looks balanced instead of this horrid front-heaviness. Possibly stretching the wings out back to their original width or just keeping them stubbier, dunno about that one...
