Crawler tracks would just be too perfect.

Elevation.

Also: is their any representation of recoil? Doesn't look like the recuperator would work.

Still. Pretty Awesome.

It has no recoil because it fires magical space shells that are made Norecoilium.

Problem solved.

You are right, elevation. I am just dead exhausted this week.

Also the recuperator should work, I based that off a real workd prototype.

I'll try being nicer if you'll try being smarter.

Probably 'Future Wars', where 40K falls.
Or VSF - it fits right in with steampunk.

Or Weird Wars, since it would look at home in WWI games as well.

But I will be using it for steampunk.

Ah. Righto. Soviet B-4. You missed the step in front of the recuperator brace which would allow for the barrel to recoil through the housing.

Wait, I've seen that picture before. Didn't Jake post that some few dozen pages ago about a project you were working on?

Is that what the crawler tracks will look like?

I can't take much more awesome.

I agree it would be great for other genres, I may snag one for my WeirdWarsWW1 force. LAF doesn't like crossposting though and Future Wars gets the most traffic.

Though, to be honest, 'Future' is not the term that first leaps to my mind, when looking at the Sledgehammer.

Much more of a Victorian or WWI bit of artillery.

Do we have any confirmation as to whether the cannon will be in the traditional bones material or the harder stuff that the shipping containers were made of. The Harder plastic would probably fbe fine, but if this barrel...

...is going to be made of the same bones that the "Dragons Don't Share" terrain was, then I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole, and neither should anyone else. The softer material simply isn't suited for a long, strait non-organic shape like this.

Here's to hoping that troopers eventually get made in Bones though!

I think Jake can answer that, he has usually taken lots practical considerations into his designs.

What is the deal with the add-ons? If I wanted this thing with caterpillar tracks, will I need to wait till the retail release? With caterpillar tracks my Valhallans would have some perfect new artillery...
Also, will they be available separately? Wondering if I should get a couple now, then upgrade them with tracks later, as that would probably still work out more cost effective with the awesome KS prices. Give me some wheels left over to play with too.

We have already started looking at avoiding any 'embarrassing' barrel issues. The barrel at least will be hard plastic and will probably plug into the body of the gun (which will make it easy to remove for transport). The whole gun will come in several parts and these will be as hard as possible. There is no way I want droopy gun photos out there.

Yes, we are looking at doing them as a resin add on, as well as a blast shield and some other accessories.

Anyone with military experience should understand how terrifying that would be if one were on the receiving end of the fire. Bug out time...

Indeed, we come down hard on penis jokes that continue too long and lay it on too thick.

Three Sledgehammers ordered

Not bad for US$107.72. Oct 2016 will seem like a long time though.

Who knows? hint hint There may even be female pith helmet heads by then for a crew head swap.

This is probably a better place to ask then the massive response thread on KS...

I understand that the crew will be made of the softer Bones material (some kind of PVC or Vinyl). The harder parts would be Styrene, which I applaud for a model intended with 40k and it's ilk. According to Reaper it's the same material as their bases, they haven't tested it with plastic glue though (I'll test it with the bases and a piece of GW sprue).

What I want to know is whether the whole gun carriage will be the hard styrene material or just parts. This for me is the difference between buying lots and buying none...

I intended to scratchbuild something like that (with the assistance of a cutting plotter) in plastic that can be glued with plastic glue (I'm quite allergic to super glue). But at $30 a piece, that's a no brainer to buy instead of build (if the material is right).

The reason why I'm 'harping' on the material used is because: I made myself a promise long ago, my 40k/WFB would be all (styrene) plastic with the exception of my Eldar and Titans. (the gun crew would not be used with 40k)
