Card ... one bog roll tube, one cereal packet, one news paper and lots of PVA glue. I don't think i need to go into detail, looks naff to average.

Kit bashing ... if you have some spare wheels and sprues this might be the method for you. Cut as many long straight sections as you can and clue them to the wheels, then roughly fill in the holes (if you have any other models eldar,sm,ect two or three bits of them would look nice and show that its been used). You may also want to sharpen some bits of sprue for spikes. Then just coble together some connections.

If it looks vaguely like a roller cobbled together at the front of the vehicle, it's good enough for a ork.

Most of what I've seen is made from toilet paper rolls like what Tri said, I personally like the kit bashed ones I've seen though. I saw one awhile back where the guy who made it used the doors from tau devilfish for the sides then connected them with 5 or 6 plasticard pipes. Then he just took bits of extra Ork armor from Battlewagons, Trukks, Kans and Deff Dreads and glued them on aroud the roll at odd angles and made bolts by cutting more plasticard rod into little sections and added spikey bits with choppas and sharpened sprue like what was suggested. to connect it to the BW he used the piston arms that connect a vindicators seige shield to the chasis.

The fact that it's an orky bit makes scratchbuilding much easier, since anything smashy and killy stuck to the front will fit the bill. You could string a few gears and circular saw blades onto an axle held in front by arms if you want something a little different.

Simple way is to just to take a tube (I'd use PVC pipe for durability, since I have scraps available, but cardboard would work, in a pinch) and cover it in plates, spikes, barbed wire, glyphs, etc. to taste. You could make something recognizable, if not particularly snazzy, in all of ten minutes using nothing but a paper towel tube, some scraps of sprue, and white glue.

That's true, but you can also have blades and claws and such to represent the same thing. It will also give some variety.
