I hadn't seen that Puppets of War one before. Looks pretty good.

I have two of the Crusader Casting ones so I'll probably get more of them if he's still making them in the near future.

That's 16 different unofficial pod models! Or 15 plus the Forge World thingy, which in my eyes is the least pod looking of the whole lot.

I'm not going to lie, I normally love the chapterhouse stuff, but that Pod, is just to much, and is the primary reason why I didn't purchase it was for that very reason.


I REALLY like the Mr. Dandy Pod (Second one) I Might have to see about getting some of those, it is the best looking one I've seen, that's for sure.


Btw, thanks for the thread MGS, I had no Idea there were so Many Pods out there!

My ranking:

1.) Old Epicast model still good (the one I use for the noble Doom), Crusader Casting one simple, nice, robust, the one I use for everyone else.
2.) I like the Puppet's War and Lord Velard pods as pods (good looking, complex, a bit less robust and practical) and the Mr.Dandy one as terrain (no side door, bad for exit, and expensive). The Blue Table creature is interesting, but also more terrain or objective marker. And expensive.
3.) Armorcast is fine but much too small. Doesn't work. Megabloks is a cheap and easy alternative, but not so good looking.
4.) Personally I don't like the look of the others for different reasons.

And to be fair to Forge World: All Tyranid terrain was discontinued shortly after Codex release

I made this one. I can cast one and put it on eBay if anyone wants one.

I prefer Faberge Eggs for my spore pods.

I went to Michaels with coupon in hand and bought 4 of the 5" Styrofoam balls that kids make planets out of in school cut a small piece off the bottom, put some of those odd sphincter-like bits from the genestealer kit on the top, some horns from the Carnifex kits and some shoulder spikes from a couple of MC kits and some greenstuff snakes/worms for textural continuity.

Used some spray paint (safe for the styrofoam) to color it and then did a little brush work on the details and walla. The elapsed time for all 4 was an hour tops. Obviously drying time was involved with the paint and the green stuff but that's no big deal to not include


It cost me 12 dollars for the 4 balls and I had everything else already so no need to go crazy with some of those things from up above in terms of money spending.

I have seen one that someone made out of a conical air freshener covered in green stuff and some Tyranid gun bits that looked pretty cool.
I'll have to show this to my friend, he has been looking for some mysenic spores for his nid army.

Star Wars Attack of the Clones deluxe Geonosian warrior comes with a great pod piece that would look great as a MS. I have one, it comes with a suction cup on the bottom, same size as a large circular base. I'll post a link to one

Yes, I have one lying around, so if somebody ends up wanting it...just PM me. It has a big slit down the front, so you can have juicy tyranid bitz popping out.

Well, as recent actions have shown, Chapterhouse never has been big on subtlety.

Crusader's pod has my vote for being the best balance between playable design and aesthetics. As soon as they have some more for sale, I'll definitely be nabbing a few.
