Deep in the Woods

So I was at the Chicago Battle bunker yesterday where I was playing with my old 4th edition WordBearers. Well to be short and sweet I got beat twice in a row. So when I got home I staerted fiddling around with AB to see what I could come up with using the mini's I have and what I already have in my stock of modeling materials. Well I decided to add a few models to my forces and minimize one unit to help add in the points for these new guys.
Also after playing yesterday, I decided I dont have enough speed in my army so I wanted to try adding a little. So I am adding a unit of Raptors for my 1850 list and 2 for my 2000.

This is my first. He needs a little gs work and a melta bomb, but then he will be all set for paint. I will be making 4 more using Sm Assault squad torsos, Zerker legs(not the legg up running ones) and arms and weapons.
I do have a WISYWIG question for you all. If I use the new Infereno pistols as my melta gun stand ins on my Chaos Raptors do you think anyone would mind? Seeing as how Chaos Raptors dont lose an attack due to carrying a assault weapon.

Anyway on to the pics.

Chaos raptor Asping Champ, Power weapon, melta bombs(need to be added).

Let me know what you think.

Looks cool, I'm wondering why he needs a jump pack and wings but in no way am I suggesting you should remove either of them.

Well rules wise Chaos raptors have jump packs. Rule of cool says to me.. They look good. So thats what I am going to go with.
Plus the fluff for my Old WordBearer's was that They were a splinter force from the Original Legion(religious diffrences hahaha) and they tend to scoop up any and all renengades they can find to increase their forces. So basicly my idea was this group of raptors was a Squad from some BA succesor chapter that succumed to the thirst and rage and fliped out. ( I will try to flush that fluff out a bit more later after I have my entire new force done)

Welol I have the legs and bases done for the other 4. I have the chests assembled, the arm conversions done and the CCW set aside and hopefully all the mold lines gone. Just waiting for glue to set well then I will start working the bodies, then the arms etc etc etc...

If I decide I like these guy on the table, I think I may redo my entire army.
Plus I think I have a color scheme that would look good.
I will have to get some new paints then try a test model.

Ohh yeah thanks for your comments!

I don't think anyone will have a problem with the Inferno Pistol aslong as you tell them what it is.
And I really like your raptor! What model is that? Legion of the Damned?
If you're looking for some inspiration, you should check out tipios P&M Blog, he got some awesome raptors there http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/323770.page

Okay I finished the rest of the squads basic build. I need to add some grenades, mabye a few spiky bits and do some final clean up and GS (gapfilling) and put on their shoulderpads, but I will wait till after painting to do that. I tried to magnitize the JPs..but the magnets I have were not strong enough, the slightest tap and the pack fell off.. So mabye next squad.
So here you are..

Melta gun guy 1

Melta guy 2

BP/CCW 1

BP/CCW 2

And the Whole Squad..

Sorry they are not the best pics. I think I might need some new sunshine bulbs.
Yes I noticed the boltpistol barrels.. I will drill them out.. hahaha

if you want to have those wings in new poses so they are more easy to play with I bet you could boil and bend them. They do look really good nice Idea.

Looks good
I would have no issue with the Inferno Pistols, but thats only on the ground that CSM have nothing like it so it shouldn't confuse others.

I'd actually give one a spear or Halberd. The Icon Bearer pole is great for said conversion. I also would give them Grenade belts and sachels to make them seem more bulky because the wings are the centerpiece. Vampire Counts skeleton bones adorned on the models would also add a nice touch.

LC and MoK or MoS are very common for Raptors. (+needed Meltabomb on Champ)

I own 5500pts of Word Bearers and I don't own any Raptors...

For Spears/Halberd, VC Grave Guard weapons might look good, or WoC Knights.

Champs are pointed out with melta bombs, i just handt put it on the model yet. That has been rectified hehehe.
I tend not to give any marks to my army or make the entire army a single mark.
I didnt own any myself until now. I figured why let BA's get all the DS fun!
I will check out the VC for bits..

Ohh and BLACKHAND, thanks man, they were actualy pretty easy to make.
