Here's some pics I took last night of my WFPA force and some terrain I need to find time to paint and detail:
I need to get another set or two of S6 Engineering's roads and road junctions. These are the small-scale roads and scenery tiles.
The piece in the for is a JR Miniatures recruiting office or similar. I converted a couple older Caiman APC models to be personal transports of some kind. (The newer resin Caiman is much cooler, and significantly bigger. These had a priming 'accident' anyway so I decided to sacrifice them to the scenery gods.)
This army (Which is 800 points, built in case I was able to play in 2010's GenCon tournament) has three combat groups. Two are tanks (2 light Klemm tanks, 1 Hardy Aller main battle tank) and this dragoon squad which is 'interesting' as it's got its a blend of scout (the small Bobcats off to each side) and 'Fire Support' (the rear units are Mad Dogs with the 'Dogfire Weapons Package': basically, they swapped some rockets for a Very Light Field Gun to give them some light battlefield artillery). In the center is the squad leader in a Mauler Bear, which is an older unit but built to act in a defensive role.
Here's the squad of lighter tanks. In this case, it's a Master Klemm that is the army commander leading a Bandit Hunter Klemm. The Master variant adds a comms package, while the Bandit Hunter upgrades the main gun a bit at the expense of trading the useful Anti-Tank Missiles for a less reliable rocket pod.
Here's the final member of the force, a Hardy Aller main battle tank. The normal Klemm relies on a railgun, but the Hrdy variant substitutes a Very Heavy Field Gun as a cost-saving measure. The VHFG is less powerful, but it's got some flexibility the railgun doesn't have.
By the way: this was built from the newer resin kit, so it's actually lighter than the Klemms despite being twice as long!
I like this terrain piece. Could be a lot of things, from a power plant (which is what Armorcast sells it as, I believe) to some sort of broadcasting station. The scale of the powerplant was definitely off, so I added the JR Miniatures quonset (which is also a bit small...) and some other bits to help give it a sense of scale.
One last shot of the Aller. I've got a couple bags of the white storage containers off eBay. They're a good way to build some cheap scenery, and hopefully they'll look better once I paint them up. I didn't intend for them to form a perfect hide for the Aller when I glued them down...
The S6 Engineering pieces are pretty cool. The only thing about them that scares me is the price, as shipping makes them a bit expensive. I want to get some time and work with them, as I'm curious how they'll do if I sand some of the tiles down to make them look less 'finished' and such. Pieces like this may also get soem sand to help obscure details.
