Me and my friend took a game on the GK release day... actually 3 games.
It was a 1 on 1 game, and the arena was the Temple Of Skulls.
I played with the Daemon

1st game: Stern looked across the battlefield, but saw nothing but dark mist and fire. He calmly walked to the temple, but stopped on the bottom of the staircase. The Daemon was waiting for him... He fired his stormbolter, but the Chaos energies protected the Daemon from the bolts. The Brother Captain charged at the unholy beast searing through the Daemons skin inflicting a wound on his abdomen, the Daemon immediately reacted swinging his blade at the Knight. Stern blocked most of the attacks, but the Daemon deceived the Brother Captain showing an image of the Daemon halting the attack, but the Daemon was actually striking one last blow at the Brother Captain hitting him on the neck, slicing his head clean off.

2nd game: Stern looked across the battlefield, but saw nothing but dark mist and fire. He calmly walked to the temple, but stopped on the bottom of the staircase. The Daemon was waiting for him... The Daemon reacted immediately casting a horrific spell, mutating the Brother Captain into a pile of rotten flesh and tentacles.

3rd game: Stern looked across the battlefield, but saw nothing but dark mist and fire. He calmly walked to the temple, but stopped on the bottom of the staircase. The Daemon was waiting for him... The Daemon immediately fired a bright bolt hitting the Brother Captain, Stern's shield melted in his hands stopping the bolt before his eyes. The Daemon Prince charged with an unholy rage, the Daemon inflicted a wound on the Brother Captains right shoulder. With a roar of pain and hatred, Stern countered the attack. The Prince blocked most of Sterns' attacks but Stern managed to slice open the chest of the Daemon. The wound had no effect on the Daemon, and the Daemon striked his blade through the Brother Captains stomach, killing the Brother Captain

So basically, I won all of the 3 games.

I find it hard to believe that Stern would lose to a daemon prince, unless it was some kind of horrible fluke.

i also find it hard to believe that stern could of lost...

Care to post more details of each encounter?

It's perfectly reasonable that Stern can best bested in CC (4xWS7 S6 attacks are nothing to laugh at) as well as being destroyed by Gift of Chaos. The whole purpose of that spell is to take out high cost elite models like Stern.

The best part is that I thought I wound him on a 3+. Afterwards I found out about Stern's bad toughness.

stern has a 3+ invulnerable save in close combat though... and can re-roll a failed save per turn.

His usual save throws: 2, 1, 1. Re-Roll 2, 1, 5. (varies on the wounds I inflict)

cant stern do dark exorcism and get rid of all daemon gifts?

i think you are referring to Dark Excommunication not Exorcism.

Yes he can... Apparently the Daemon needed 1 gift to kill Stern (2nd game)

No, he can't. Check your codex. Stern doesn't have Dark Excommunication.
