Hi all, i have been working on an elysian droop troops army now for about 2 months in preparation for a tournament. seems i have left alot of the work down two the last two weeks but lucky for me i am on holidays for the next two weeks so time for some hobby madness . so enough with the chatter time for some pictures . comments would be really nice thanks.

Thanks Mate, Surprisingly forge world actually make good posses . but the work effort in building them is crazy, took me two solid days to build them. it took me less time to paint them.

Thanks perkustin, It was all drybrushing and washes to achieve the effect here i will add the website i got it from. warning though this sort of drybrushing ownly works on resin, this is because plastic deosnt hold enogh detail. http://commissar.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=howto&action=display&thread=6946. thats the link, don't worry about vallejo colours though.

The Elysians are probably my favorite IG troops, because of their sheer badassery. If ForgeWorld didn't have such prohibitive costs I'd probably be swimming in Elysian minis.

So until GW comes out with some or I get some FW ones, I'll stick with my Marines and eventually some Thousand Sons.

I love the poses particularly, but the painting is also excellent. Are you going to assemble and paint some as a "special forces" unit with night camo and stuff? I think that would look badass.

thats what my strom troopers are going to look like i will post them later. tomorrow i will post some pics of the finished valkyrie, Joshh you are right about the cost of them. they are hideously over priced, what is resin made on mars or somthing like that?

Finished the valkyrie last night, looks okay I am pretty happy with how it turned out. started the storm troopers last night i'll try and post them up tomorrow.

Really nice looking valk, are you saying you have two weeks till a tournament? Is so good luck with getting the army finished (how many points?) also will you be using standard guard rules, or the IA rules for them?

I have about two weeks untill the tournie, its a 1500pts tournei so i cant use imperial armour, even though i would use imperial amour at the drop of a hat.

Why can't you use IA at 1500pts?

Hmmm, are those valkyrie engines separate from the main body? Orky-sense tingling!

Younglogan: you can use IA at 1500 pts but most tournies don't allow it, or if they do you can only use one unit. I think the main reason that they dont allow it is because it is just so devastating.

Lessthan1337: yes the valkyrie engines are sperate from the body.

Snarky: Did you see the link at the top of the page, this guy gave me all the ideas i needed to pain them. Its all just dry brushing and washes, exept the valk that was mostly panelling. post some pics of yours when you have startded them. I will post some pics of the stom troopers in a min.

Joshh: unfortunetly the kits only come with the bare minimum but if you want legs, guns, snipers, heads and bits i have heaps.

Ah.. yeah, if you want a free tip Tech, get the special weapon squad with flamers, you get enough to build an additional three guardsmen, although you will be missing parts, such as the torso in this case..


Sooo... I looked through my bitz box and decided to make a female elysian as I couldn't find a body that I could easily make into a regular male elysian, still.. it's passable!

So 9 guardsmen (if you do a bit of greenstuff and converting) for only £20 instead of the ridiculous £37 for 10.

Snarky I think that i might have to invertigate that, sounds alot cheaper and i get some chicks for my army.

The colors look great, I especially like the red visors!

Its pretty easy to do just paint blood red (mechrite red first) and highlight with blazing orange and then ard coat .

I'd be pretty interested in heads, as well as a couple guns. I'll probably order torsos off of a bitz site or just convert some Cadians (sigh...) Do you have enough heads and grav-chutes for a 10-man squad? And some bullpup lasguns/plasmas/meltasfor them? We can continue this via PM.

Yeah, it was a bit of a pain, thing is that you should cut part of the handle of the special weapon guns (the top rail) off and fit a hand there. You may need to cut off the hand and rotate it a big which was annoying, and this was with the one that was supposed to have the gun (no converting should have been necessary!)

The other one I just stole a hand from one of my death korps kits and just stuck on the plasma gun to have a carrying type effect. I'm not sure, but if you want a firing type pose you may want to try cutting away a lasgunner that's aiming and the stock and cutting the special weapon away at the stock and fitting it in, but i'm not sure that will work as the gun is a bit too fat and will dig into the torso.
