I had a game using my empire vs a small high elves army last night. I was only using the models I own(hence no artillery) its was hugely entertaining, lists are below
My Empire
Lvl 4 wizard lord w seal of destruction-Lore of light
BSB w razor standard
40 Swords w
FC
10 Handgunners w HLR
8
IC knights w
FC & Steel standard
His elves(from my memory)Lvl 2 Life mage w some magic items he didnt get to use
30 seaguard
~20swordmasters
5 silver helms
We decided to play the victory points battle. Terrain was scattered around, I had a bottleneck right in front of me and my deployment was quite squeezed up. My knights were wide right facing his swordsmasters with my handgunners too the left of them. My big block of swords sat facing his silver helms and his sea guard. My wizard was chilling with my handgunners, my
BSB with my swords. His mage joined his seaguard.
We rolled for spells, I got light of battle, net of amyntok, tempest & speed of light. He got regrowth & flesh to stone, he also swapped awaken the wood for earthblood(his mage had an item which allowed him 3 spells)
He got first turn.
High elves Turn 1
Everything moved forwards, his silver helms to the left of my swords, using a big temple of doom to cover him from my charge. Magic he tried to cast flesh to stone on his swordmasters, I dispelled it. earthblood got cast on his seaguard. Shooting he hit with 6 bows but failed to wound any swordsmen(epic fail).
Empire Turn 1
I shuffled my swords forward threateningly 4 inches and moved my Knights half speed towards his swordsmasters making sure I was out of his charge range. Magic I got a whopping 12 Power dice(WOOP!). I attempted the net on his swordsmasters, he dispelled it but used all his dice. I cast tempest on his swords and killed 4 and then cast speed of light on the swordsmen(just in case). Shooting my handgunners blew apart 3 swordsmasters and the marksmen with a cry of BOOM HEADSHOT!!! picked off the unit champion.
High elves Turn 2
Quietly terrified of my everything(i could tell it in his eyes) he moved his army backwards, his seaguard stayed where they were. Magic he tried to get regrowth on his swordmasters but I used the seal of destruction on him and rolled a 4 so he forgets the spell for the whole game

Shooting he killed 4 Swords who didnt get their shields up in time.
Empire Turn 2
I declared charges with my knights hitting the swordsmasters and the swords hitting his silver helms. my handgunners with little to shoot at just moved up so I could buff my knights with magic. Or I would have if speed of light hadnt been dispelled. I did manage to net his Seaguard though. Shooting was non existant so we went straight to combat.
His Silver Helms killed 4 swordsmen but got wiped out in turn. My swords reformed to face a potential charge from the Seaguard. The Knight got blendered by the Swordsmasters (1 survived to kill a swordsmaster but got chased down).
High elves Turn 3
He charged his swordmasters into my handgunners who stood and shot killing only 2

and he then passed his strength test on his seaguard to charge my swords
Magic phase his mage failed his Strength test to cast spells and the resulting hits kill 2 seaguard. In combat my Handgunners predictably got smushed by the Hoeth, my mage did manage to bop one on the head before he got chased down though. The seaguard killed 6 swords and I killed 4, he won combat but due to my horde formation I stayed put.
Empire Turn 3
Straight to combat where my Swords killed 3 and he killed 4. Drawing the combat since I had 2 banners HOORAY!
High elves Turn 3His Swords magically reformed and in combat I beat the high elves by 1, they ran and I chased them down. By now there was about 12 Swordsmasters and ~25-30 Swords and my
BSB left.
Empire Turn 3
I moved forward and made funny faces at him.
High elves Turn 4
He declared a charge but failed, shambling forward.
Empire Turn 4
I declared a charge and failed, shambling forward.
High Elves & Empire Turn 5
He successfully charged my Swords and killed 10 I killed 5 in return. It was a drawn combat both rounds.
High Elves & Empire Turn 6
Combat continued until the end of the game. He was left with 3 Swordsmasters and I had 12 Swords and my
BSB.
Result: Draw. I was about 100
VP ahead in the end but not really enough to constitute a win.
Thoroughly enjoyed the game and it came down to the wire
