Hey everyone! This is my first attempt at fluff, and the first idea I got for background for the Wych Cult I'm using, the Cult of the Blade Denied. The short story's about Sibyl, the Syren for my army in progress. I'll get accompanying pictures of Sibyl and her squad's Raider once I can build and paint them.
Sibyl was an instinctive killer. Even as an initiate, she had always been powerful, slaughtering a variety of gladiatorial beasts and hordes of warriors from the lesser races with sickening grace and lethal perfection. It did not take her very long to ascend the ranks of the social elite in Commorragh, as she gained the attention of many Hekatrie and even a few Archons. Promotions came fast; first she was promoted to Hydra, her hydra gauntlets aiding her ever-growing martial prowess. As she reached the pinnacle of marital grace, her peers began to praise her even more. Sybil earned the rank of Hekatrix at the youngest age ever recorded within the Cult of the Blade Denied and eventually joined her Cult’s Bloodbrides that accompanied her cult’s Succubus, Frigga.
Sibyl broke hearts as easily as she pierced them, her fame giving her the attention of many Kabalites and wyches. Word of her promiscuity was ripe amongst the Blade Denied and even the most knowledgeable of Commorragh’s rumor-mongers. One whom she had the most lustful and passionate affairs with, however, was a Dracon named Jogget. Having ascended to the rank of Syren, gossip about Sibyl was never short. There were even mutterings that she would be the Succubus.
Devastation hit Sibyl like the wrath of Slaanesh after a raid against an Adeptas Sororitas convent. The Kabal of the Infinite Void had wanted the pure souls for the wych cult arenas, and as a vane gift to his notorious lover, Jogget wanted to make sure that all the captives from this raid would be sent directly to the arena of the Blade Denied. Jogget, however, was too arrogant to realize how tactically impractical it would be to take on an Imperial post head-on. In a desperate counter-assault, the Order of the Cold Fire resorted to the use of one of their Exorcist tanks. As Jogget’s Raider sped toward the enemy lines, it wound up colliding with an Exorcist missile, reducing it to rubble and leaving Jogget an unrecognizable mess. Of the few Raiders that survived the bloody onslaught managed to bring the once-powerful Dracon back to Commorragh, while others brought a few prisoners.
It is rumored in the Dark City that Sibyl lost her mind the night she saw her lover’s mangled body. She dredged up her old mask from when she was a Hydra and purposefully marred half of it with acid to mark her undeniable pain from the dreaded event. From then on, she never removed the mask in public, maybe to hide her manic depression from others, or possibly to make a new identity, feeling weak for having developed such feelings for another. Anyone subordinate to her who questioned her about the mask, or displeased her otherwise, received a brutal lash from her agoniser. Others in the Cult of the Blade Denied began to even fear her as they noticed her become increasingly rash and sadistic. Sibyl had been idolized in the past, but now being trained or led by her was a terrifying experience.
None felt the icy rage of Sibyl like a particular captive from Jogget’s raid. Sibyl had found a Sister Superior from the Battle Sisters brought back to Commorragh, and took out her frustrations on the slave when she could. The prisoner’s name was Seraphina, and Sibyl kept her only in her sacred robes and manacles, sometimes gagging her with a shred from her Order’s customary purple robe in order to dam the river of zealous rants that would constantly spew from her mouth. She would frequently do unspeakable things to Seraphina with a knife, agoniser, or even hydra blade, drinking in agony of the purest of souls as it satisfied her innate hunger for the pain of others. Despite these explicitly violent acts, Sibyl would always make sure to keep her prisoner alive, as well as beautiful, also using her for a Raider decoration. With permission from Frigga, Sibyl takes Seraphina onto the Raider for every raid, keeping her in sight even in the midst of battle.
Today, the cruel and sadistic obsession Sibyl has with Seraphina is not the only thing in her mind. Her consistent remarkable performance makes her believe that she is the one who truly deserves to be the Succubus. She secretly rivals and plots against Frigga, but so far has not gotten a chance to remove her. Sibyl, above all, is a calculating sadist who is a pitch-dark shadow of the glory she once was.
